On the other hand, this playground has most of the 'added extras' I like to see in a family friendly park; drinking fountain, shade (although it's a little distance from the playground), table/chair area, BBQ, toilets. Perhaps the biggest things missing that would undoubtedly make this a five star playground is the rubber flooring under the play equipment and some shade. The table/chair and BBQ are under shade from the trees. There's also a sheltered gazebo/seating area but that's a little distance from the playground, BBQ and table/chair. There's plenty of room to kick a ball here. This is a great community playground. I have met most of my friends here, supervising our children…read moreon the playground or taking the dog for it's evening run. Whenever I go to the reserve there is a friendly face I can stop and have a chat with. The playground is great for younger children, with swings, slides, monkey bars and climbing frames. Although no shade over it, so it does get hot in summer. The grass space is lovely and I am very glad that the council have started watering the grass through summer, I still remember the dust bowl conditions of a few summers ago. It is very friendly for dog owners. The BBQs are great, with plenty of space for a few groups at once. For older children who have outgrown the playground it would be great to see an upgrade to the basketball 'court', or some soccer goals, or netball rings.

Even before high school, I used to come here as a kid and always found it to be a safe and comfortable environment. Bordered by Rivington Grove, Kennaway St and Stirling St, Tusmore Park has a number of great facilities. In the summer there is a wading pool for kids, there are two playgrounds plus a fenced area for extra security, public toilets, and a large grass area for sports. BBQ facilities are also available, as well as picnic areas. There is ample street parking, plus the park provides a lot of shade from surrounding trees. It is a beautiful park, complete with five (I think) free tennis courts as well. It does get busy, especially in summer and on weekends, so get there quick.

I used to come here a lot as a child and have many fond memories. Even in my older years I still frequent Tusmore Park for a spot of inner city landscape painting. There is a small wading pool for small children which is covered by a pergola for sun protection. The creek only really runs in the winter time and even then is quite shallow. There is a bunch of playground equipment as well as bbq facilities. The Hanson reserve provides a sizable patch of grass for ball games and the like. At the base of the reserve is a section reserved for the regrowth native vegetation, as well as a sort of little Forrest of older trees, which is great fun for kids to explore. The park gets quite busy on the weekends during summer, when lots of families have picknicks and bbqs. Probably best to get there early to ensure you get a spot.

Hidden gem for parents…read more My employer held its family Christmas BBQ here last year. The highlight was watching a small kid try to operate a big water fountain. To reach the spout he had to let go of the button. He was pretty quick! ...but not quick enough for a drink. Solid entertainment, until mum came to the rescue and held the button. Lots of positives: Being out front of the Aquatic Centre ensures adequate parking, clean toilets and added safety. Soft mats or sand surround all equipment, with a fence around the lot to keep 'em caged in. Outside of the fencing are two BBQ's, and of course there's the Aquatic Centre kiosk for treats. Don't forget hats and sunscreen, as the equipment's not shaded; however, there is a gazebo. Slides, forts, a small flying fox, a wheel chair swing (requires key from Aquatic Centre during opening hours) a four way swing and a maze. Your kids will love it. The little shits won't want to leave.

There is a sheltered seating area closer to the playground (not that anything is too far from anything else) but with the number of families that come through this playground in a day, you would need to get in early for a table. The whole playground is fenced and there are BBQs and table/chairs under the pine trees just outside the fence also. There is just SO much here for children to play on. The only reason why I didn't give this park a five star rating is that I usually like to see equipment designed for all ages where as this area is definitely directed at the little ones. There's lots of shade sails, tables, benches and trees. On a warm summer's morning all of these were greatly appreciated. It's fenced, and there are some creative pieces of play equipment, including a big tyre swing and boat which were both very popular with the smaller members of our party. There are toilets, taps, and even a tennis court, with plenty of parking nearby. It's easy enough for the grown ups to chill out and chat because the kids are so busy enjoying themselves. The only negative is that is can get very busy. On the other hand, it gets busy because it's good, so I hesitate to deduct a star for that. Recommended, especially for the under 8s.
