We just didn't care for it. I have been trying to stretch out my taste buds by trying different foods. This was a doordash order so cant tell you about ambiance. We ordered the much hyped hummus, chicken something, meat pies, and meat schwarma sandwich. I was much disappointed in the hummus. Just nothing special or flavorful to me. My other half loves hummus n he was adding lemon to it to add flavor. Grilled chicken was fine. Meat pies or a B from the man and a eh from me. The level of quality from this restaurant is unparalleled. My palate generally prefers less oiliness and less sweetness. When I tasted their falafel sandwich I was taken aback by the freshness and perfect texture. The falafel was perfectly brown and rich in flavor. The menu alone was surprising. At one end there are raw vegetables. On the other end there is the tornado! I hardly see raw vegetables ever offered and the platter that was brought out to us was creative. read more

Very good Mediterranean food at a reasonable price given all the recent inflation that has hit casual restaurants especially hard. Nice ambiance, feels a bit cozier than most diners though not fancy. Service was a bit slow, but earnest. I got the chicken + hummus + rice + salad dinner combo. Large enough portion to fill me up completely after I had gone for a 5 mile run, with a tiny bit left over. Normally I don't order hummus, but the sign on their outside the window says they have the best hummus in town and other reviewers liked the hummus a lot. It is maybe the second best hummus in town, but not the best. Souk's hummus is much much better. But LaVie's is better than most hummus I've had. I'm not a big fan of your average hummus, this hummus was so good that I asked for a box to take home 2 tablespoons or so of leftover. Very creamy. (But Souk's is sooo much creamier. I don't know what they put in it. Truffle oil? Large amounts of actual cream? I have to go back to Souk soon!) Chicken shawarma was solid. Greek salad was tasty too. Rice was your standard rice. I wish they had been all on one big plate instead of in separate containers, so I could mix them together more, which is how I generally eat this kind of food. I could have like served them all out onto the plate, I suppose. They have a pretty impressive looking shawarma sandwich that's only available weekday lunch hours. I'm usually working then, but might take an extended lunch break one day to try it. Also had some pretty good looking chocolate cake that I didn't try as I was aiming to eat a bit healthier. Excellent little Mediterranean spot! Found this gem thanks to Yelp while traveling in the area. I sat down and was waited on quickly while I perused the menu. It's expansive; there's something for all tastes here! (Do note: no wine or beer available, if you had your heart set on it). I was happy to see a vegetarian Mazza plate available, and that's what I ordered for my meal. It arrived on a nice divided tray and the portions were quite large! I loved their version of the tabouleh salad with lots of onions and tomatoes, no bulgur that I could see. The spinach pies were probably my least favorite, as they were a little dry for my taste but I've never had this variety before so it may be the nature of this item. I always enjoy a stuffed grape leaf, and the baba ganoush was quite refreshing on a warm late spring day. The plate was served with flatbread, which was less leavened than pita bread I've had before, but I really liked it. It was perfect for dipping! The waiter was attentive and friendly, checking on me to make sure I enjoyed my order. He was very welcoming, and invited me back again. The price was quite reasonable as well, as I was able to take half of the food home for another meal. LaVie was a great find in the NW Ohio area! read more

Great menu & easy to order for pickup. I had lavie twice in one week and order the same thing both times. Hummus, grilled church and rice (kids meal). Both times i placed an order for pickup. The first time, my chicken was hot and perfectly grilled but the portion was somewhat small, which I expected as a kids meal. The second time I ordered the same meal, the chicken portion was doubled and the chicken was dry and hard to chew. The flavor was still great but I'm confused about the inconsistency! read more

I would describe the ambiance as bright, clean and with a welcoming diner type of casual atmosphere. The service was top notch. Three of us ordered the Chicken Tawook and all loved it. One person ordered a Greek Salad that was seriously beautiful. Two others ordered a hamburger with fries. There was something for everyone, though I personally love Mediterranean food. Our server was very accommodating and friendly, not to mention patient as we were there for a good two hours. The only thing missing is that our iced teas and sodas weren't refilled, which was minor in the scheme of things. We stopped here for dinner a couple weeks ago on our way to Toledo and contrary to some of the other reviews, the portions were not as big as we were anticipating, but we still left full because we ordered some extras with our entrees. I had the beef shish kabobs with rice and veggies and my husband had the gallaba with chicken. We also each got a salad with our meal, which was actually quite large for a side salad. We also got an order of spicy hummous to share. I do feel the entrees were a bit pricey for the amount of meat that was served, but everything else was great. read more

This recently-opened establishment is an excellent spot for Middle Eastern fare with a Lebanese twist. We were in the area doing some after-Christmas shopping and found this place listed among the nearby options. The reviews looked like it was worth a try. The location in a strip plaza was easy to find. The interior was nice enough, though nothing special with standard booths and modest decor. We walked in around 3:30 PM, so it was not at all busy. The moderate-sized dining room was wide open, even with a reduced-capacity protocol in place. Our server did a great job of taking care of us throughout our stay. The menu featured several Middle Eastern favorites. My wife chose the Lemon Rice Soup, one of her favorites, and a medium Fattoush Salad. She was quite happy with her choices, particularly the soup. I had the Chicken Shawarma over Hummus, which came with seasoned fries. I was extremely satisfied with my choices. The chicken was tasty, as was the hummus. The fries were excellent and were particularly noteworthy. I will also say that the pita was wonderfully fresh. The portions on all of the servings were right-sized such that we could finish them in one sitting. Our final cost with food, drinks, tax and tip was $34. At $17 per person, this was a reasonably good deal. We will definitely visit again. read more

When I say the food here was slapping.... I mean everything was flavorful and super tender. The garlic sauce was smooth and had the just right amount of garlic. The hummus was smooth too, super fresh and very flavorful. But what knocked my socks off was the chicken kafta. Ooooooo weeee was that one of the best things I've ever tasted. Love it! Tried this authentic Greek spot for dinner yesterday, and thought I had to write a review to let others know. Food: We ordered the Gyro Dinner and the ShishKabab Dinner. Both dinners came with a soup or a salad, and rice or French fries. Absolutely excellent! Great value, and even better food. Gyro meat was so tasty! Not burnt or dry like other Greek spots have it. For the ShishKabab, we got one Chicken and one Steak. Both meats were grilled and charred to perfection. Yum! Covid Safety: We ate inside and felt very safe. They took Covid precautions very serious; mask required for entry, work staff all wearing mask; tables socially distanced. Lastly, we order two fresh blended juices to go (pictured below). They were again, excellent. I forget which ones they were specifically, but they had a list of about 6 I believe. Very fresh and refreshing. Also very affordable. First: The chicken shawarma was DELICIOUS. And it was a last minute add on to my order . I'm so so glad I ordered it. I just wish there was more garlic sauce added (next time I'll be sure to ask for extra--it was so so good, my mouth is watering as I type this). The chicken lemon soup was decent. I assumed there would be rice in there, but there wasn't. Perhaps you have to ask for rice and they'll add it in? I went here specifically for the meat grape leaves. And while they weren't bad, they were more of the Turkish or Greek style grape leaves--the ones with dill and mint in the filling. I prefer the Lebanese style grape leaves, which typically don't have dill and mint, and instead usually have parsley and a strong mix of warm spices like cinnamon and allspice. These were also on the saltier side. I can't emphasize again how good the shawarma was though. I may go grab another today. Oh and do yourself a favor and add feta if you're a cheese person--it adds another little zing to the shawarma. Let me start by saying LaVie is one of my favorite placed. I hope it can stay that way but recently it doesn't seem like it. In the recent months the grilled chicken has changed from the best grilled chicken I've ever had to something orange and greasy looking. I messaged them to ask if this change was a permanent one but I got no response. I figured I would give them the benefit of the doubt and stop for lunch with my toddler. We got there when they opened at 11. Besides being looked at by either a cook or manager when we walked in, we were not acknowledged AT ALL. The sign said seat yourself so we did. There was no highchair or boosters out so I sat there holding my kid waiting for someone. But no one even made a step towards us. Then a lady cam in a few minutes after 11. I thought, ok now I'll get some service. Nope she walked around doing "opening" things. So after about 20 minutes of nothing, not even a "someone will be with you soon", I got up and walked out. They didnt even see me do that. Very disapointed. read more

We stopped by on our way from Detroit to Cincinnati for a quick lunch. This happened to be a wonderful find!! Our waitress was very kind and helpful. The soup was just ok but everything else was very good. The service was really good too, both the hostess and the waitress were very sweet. At one point I had to leave the restaurant to go to my car and use nasal spray(allergies) and the waitress was kind enough to ask if I was ok. Thought that was really nice of her! Tried this place today for lunch and was very pleasantly surprised! The wife found this online and after looking here and at their site decided to try it. It's in a strip plaza and the front door could use cleaned, but otherwise the place looked ok. I ordered chicken shawarma and gyro meat, the wife a salad with gyro meat and cheese added. I had rice with mine, rather than fries, and a salad instead of soup. I haven't eaten the salad yet so i can't comment on that, but the wife enjoyed hers a lot. My shawarma and gyro was excellent. Both meats were were cooked perfectly, both very moist and great flavor. And the rice was excellent too, which so often isn't the case as many places don't put much effort into rice. So that is a big plus for me that they do this right. And our two meals together only came to $23! My only quibble, and this is minor, is that the container of garlic sauce they gave me was way too small (I like a lot of sauce on pretty much everything). I'll have to ask for at least a second container of sauce the next time. We'll certainly be back here, probably a lot. I just hope they can maintain this level of quality. read more
