The day I did my laundry here it was 86°F (30°C) outside, and the laundromat was even hotter than that. There was no air conditioning. There was no fan. The sun was beating in through the huge front windows, and there were no shades or curtains. There was, however, free Wi-Fi with a password posted on the wall. About ten people were doing laundry. The laundromat has only four plastic chairs. Everyone was hot and sweating profusely and taking turns sitting down. Some people carried the chairs outside to sit on the sidewalk right in front of the laundromat, but that was in direct sun. One customer then carried his chair across the street to sit in the shade and sat looking over to the laundromat. The machines only take one dollar Canadian coins. A change machine is on the wall. A load of laundry costs four dollars. The dryers cost one dollar for 12 minutes. A small box of Tide powdered detergent from a machine on the wall cost one dollar. The machine worked fine for me, but the woman who used it after me did not get any detergent. She tried with a second coin, and again, did not get anything out. The coin return did not work. No attendant was on the premises. There was a locked door to an office in the back, but the woman who lost two dollars in the broken machine checked regularly to see if anyone was in the office, and no one was, for over two hours. By the time I left, no attendant had shown up. There was no number posted to call if you had a problem. The laundromat is on a steep hill and does not have a parking lot, so you have to park a block or two away and hike with your laundry. Or find someone to drop you off in front of the door and pick you back up later. Or just find a better laundromat! read more

While traveling, I was was in need of a laundrymat and although there were many in the area, google maps showed that they were at least a mile walk from the hotel. After asking around, locals mentioned that there was a laundry mat half a block away from us! They didn't know the exact address, but gave us the street. I couldn't find it online either and after taking a long way there in some freezing rain & snow, I was happy to find such a clean and accessible laundry mat. There is a change machine to break Canadian bills into 25 cent coins and a machine which sells detergent pods for .25. The signs are posted in three languages: English, French & Spanish and states that a cold wash is $2.25 and warm wash $2.50. It is .25 cents to dry for 3 mins. Although it seems high, just separate your load into light and heavy clothing and you'll likely pay $2.00 to $2.50 to dry a light load. I just hung up the heavier items (like jeans) in my room to dry since they were still slightly damp. Lavoir St. Ursele was a great find in Old Town and really useful for weary travelers needing to do mundane things like wash dirty clothes, lol. There is a convenience store nearby and a darn good Moroccan restaurant a few doors down! read more

This laundry mat was great. Very clean and well maintained machines. They have everything onsite including washing powder and dish sheets in vending machines. All washes are currently $3 and it's $1 for 12 minutes of drying time. I always split my load in two for the dry if it's quiet. Same amount of $$ but half the time! My load was washed, dried and folded in an hour! There is a little grocery next door so I grabbed a snack while I waited. read more

We were visiting from San Francisco and needed to launder our clothes. After Yelping, we decided to try Lavoir St. U. Easy to locate on phone map, super clean, clearly written instructions (in English), and free wifi to boot! Soap pods are $1, washing is $3, and drying is $1 for 12 minutes. We walked down to Paillard and had a sandwich...another super-duper place. Greatest croissant!! Ok - that's all I can say about a wonderful launderette. read more

Very clean and empty. We had the place for us. It is not very cheap, but it doesn't take very long (washing 30min. & drying 36min [3x12min]). waiting area could use a few new chairs, but it's still ok. read more
