Wow! Definitely a unique version of Mediterranean and kebabs. The place used to be Krave off of Colorado I came here for my nieces baptismal reception. The waiters and helpers were very welcoming and attentive. It was a feast! It turns out this is more Eastern European style food. From Ukraine? The food was delicious and the ambiance was very nice. It was a lovely place to have a family lunch especially with the platter options which came out amazing! The reasoning behind not rating it as a five star experience, let me preface that I know that they were just opening for lunch at 12PM which our reservation was under so I completely understand. The staff seemed to be very overwhelmed with a lot of customers very quickly, there seemed to be no AC or fans which had a lot of guests fanning themselves, and our party had to ask multiple times for various things. But despite those criticisms I think it may be equated to simply being a very busy opening lunch. First time here last night with my husband as I was craving Mediterranean food. Wow, the meal blew us away - absolutely the best we've had around town. Food we ordered: - Khachapuri (5/5): This is a must-get! I would describe it as a generous cheese-filled soft bread. Look at that cheese pull--how can this taste bad?! I finished my first slice in seconds. I could definitely eat more, but I didn't want to ruin my appetite for the entrée. It's best for sharing, as the two of us only ate half and took the rest home. - Beef Tenderloin Plate (5/5): I ordered it medium but then worried it might be overcooked or dry. Not at all! It came out so tender and flavorful, wow! I also loved the potatoes and butter rice that came with it. The potato was crispy on the outside but had a very creamy texture inside (how did they do that?!). I wish it came with more grilled veggies, though, as there was only a pepper and a tomato. The butter mixed in with the rice was heavenly! - Chicken Lule (4/5): My husband loved it--juicy and flavorful all around. I just don't prefer minced meat, but it was still delicious to me! This place was a BANGER! Came here for an early Mother's Day dinner. It was great, the restaurant is super clean airy and spacious. You wont feel crowded or feel like youre cooped up and cramped. We had a group of 6 and we ordered 2 humus appetizer combos, 2 khachapuris and 1 large kebab combo and it was plenty of food for the 6 of us. The kebab plate and rice was super good it had beef lule, chicken lule, rack of lamb, filet kebabs, chicken breast kebabs all of the grilled meats were very juicy and well seasoned. the platter also comes with a whole mess of grilled tomatoes, onions and peppers. It comes out on a massive platter. The khachapuri is not your usual cheesy egg bread boat like it is at other places that serve it (georgian or armenian restaurants), this khachupuri looks just like a pizza, but it is damn good with the perfect amount of cheese to bread ratio (although you dont get to mush an egg yolk around the cheese) Its hella good, but in all reality youre getting a cheese pizza not a khachapuri. I would not get the hummus appetizer sampler, its not bad but its not good either and its tiny af, this is not their specialty skip it!. The wines were reasonably priced and they were tasty. I'm kind of shocked at how empty the place was when we went, there was only like 4 tables occupied on a saturday night at 6pm (i know senior citizens dinner but still, its saturday before mothers day!). The staff was super friendly and they were very accommodating, as we had little children in our group and had to move stuff around, but they were on it they had coloring books and crayons (s os this place is family friendly too!) We brought our own cake, and they didn't charge us for plating or cutting it for us and providing the utensils. Top notch service! My only gripe about this place is that they play this insipidly boring euro-house soundtrack the entire time. Thank you to our waitress Alina and the staff at LavShash. Everything was SO GOOD and I wish I could've eaten more. The Khachapuri was our favorite and the potatoes were seasoned perfectly with garlic and dill. We also enjoyed singing along to the music playing overhead and then as we were wrapping up, there was live music starting. Glad to have leftovers to go home with too. Came here the first month of opening. Place is really nice. staff is very nice. They give you lemon mint water that is a plus. We got a sharable dish. The salad was the perfect balance of fresh veggies, olive oil, and oregano. It was topped with fresh feta. My boyfriend had the kebab plate with potatoes. He raved about the potatoes being perfectly crisp and the portion size being just right. My friend & I were shopping in Old Town Pasadena and noticed this place, so we stopped in for a bite. Rows of kebabs in a display case are the first thing you see when you walk in. The restaurant is spacious and emits a welcoming vibe. A conversation with our darling server revealed that LavShash recently opened in March and the owners are from Ukraine. We decided to share the Khachapuri ($16) and a Greek Salad ($12). The salad featured fresh cucumbers, tomatoes, bell peppers, & olives tossed in olive oil and various herbs & spices. It was topped with a big square of feta cheese. It was delightful. I never had Khachapuri before, but I will order it again! Warm & gooey Suluguni cheese was wrapped in a soft bread casing. OMG! It was dangerously delicious. LavShash's motto is "Make people's lives delicious." They definitely delivered. What a disappointment! I ordered baba ganoush as an appetizer. No pita bread or chips were provided. I was given 3 small pieces of bread and was told that it was on the house. The baba ganoush was served ice cold, like it came straight from the refrigerator. At other Mediterranean restaurants I've frequented, it is served at room temperature or warm. I had to ask for olive oil because none was provided. For my main course, I ordered the special of osso bucco w/polenta and vegetables. The polenta was very good. I'll give them that. The "vegetables" were just carrots. The sauce was tasty however the osso bucco was tough. I tried pushing through and eating the beef because the polenta and sauce were good but after a few bites decided that the meal was too much work to eat. I told the waitress who apologized and asked if they could remake the meal. I said yes and waited 20 mins and the plate did not return. At that point, I'd had enough. I told the waitress that I did not want the meal. Osso bucco takes 2-3 hours to make well. I don't understand why it would take 20 mins to recreate the meal. There had to be a pot of osso bucco ready to serve. I understand the polenta takes time however that was not expressed to me at all. The waitress came to me with a check for the full meal and told me the management would not comp or discount my meal. It was my last night in Pasadena before flying back home and I'm sorry I didn't order the kebabs. That was my second mistake after ordering the baba ganoush. Don't order the special. Order what they're known for. Oh well. The setting is nice and the wine was good. That is all! Edited in response to the owners comment. I did not eat half the meal. That is a lie. read more

The Khachapuri from this place is the most delicious dish ever! It was very cheesy and tasted amazing. Totally recommend this dish if you love cheese and carbs . Lunch here was SO good. My friend and I each got the chicken wrap and were a little dubious when the menu said it came in a tortilla. Rest assured, it was actually a housemade wrap and it was SO GOOD! This is going to sound strange but the flavor reminded me of a meatball sub but without all the greasiness and cheese. It was just so satisfying and tasty. The service was slow and not particularly attentive. I ran out of water repeatedly even though the restaurant was not very busy. We really wanted to love this new place in Old Town Pasadena. The food looked amazing (see my photos). We ordered a tray to share, chicken lule and beef kebab. Beautifully presented with rice, potatoes, veggies including tomatoes and eggplant. To start we ordered the khachapuri and mastokhiar (yogurt). The khachapuri was fantastic. If you like cheesy bread, you really need to try this. Bill came out to a little over $100 + tip for this two person lunch. While the food looked amazing, the way the meats are cooked didn't fit my taste. It's clear to me that this restaurant cares about quality and fine details. I'm just sorry that the meats didn't fit my taste. They are cooked very gently and on the rarer side. The chicken lule kebabs have a chickeny/gamey flavor that didn't agree with me. Whether the beef or chicken, my preference would be more searing and charring of the outside. Otherwise, please know that they pay attention to quality here. This place is really solid! I got the lamb lule kebab, which was super tasty. But the highlight for me was the potatoes. It's relatively hard to totally mess up potatoes but it's also hard to do potatoes really well. And these potatoes were spot on -- cooked perfectly, not too oily, nicely seasoned, just great. We're big fans of Armenian food and initially assumed this would be similar, but this is certainly a different take on some of the dishes we love in the best way! We got a lule kebab plate and the meat was juicy and tender and paired with roasted veggies, rice, and raw onions. We also got the khachapurri which was delicious and the waiter let us know that's their specialty. We certainly see why! We were seated immediately and the waiter was extremely kind and attentive. There isn't a big sign with the name of the restaurant outside, so it could be easy to miss. However, the inside is pretty spacious. It was nice and clean with a good amount of seating. Dishonest Business - Avoid At All Costs I placed an order with LavShash on January 9, 2025, totaling $79.38. When my partner arrived to pick it up, the restaurant was completely closed--lights off, doors locked. Given the ongoing Eaton fire, this was understandable. What's not understandable is their refusal to refund my money for an order they never fulfilled. I contacted them multiple times, assuming they would do the right thing and return my money. Instead, they ignored the obvious facts and refused to issue a refund. This is blatant theft--charging customers for food they never provided and refusing to take accountability. I highly recommend avoiding this place. If they are willing to keep money for food they never made, imagine what else they're willing to cut corners on. Dishonest, unethical, and absolutely not worth the risk. read more

Have always loved Kebab spots of all levels! So I was stoked one opened up within walking distance of my apartment... The ambiance is really great, the atmosphere and calming color/materials/finish of the place is nice. The hyped up music and screen playing overviews of beaches abroad was a nice touch too (always a staple at passionate kebab places) I ordered an appetizer (I forgot the name sorry!) which is a delicious baked cheese inside a pizza shaped/sliced piece of delicious fluffy bread. It was most comforting since my short walk was chilly and windy! I got a beef tenderloin plate with rice and vegetables (with a Mexican Coke, I think I'll opt for fries next time, I had bits and pieces of the bell peppers and random sliced salad), the beef was OVERALL ok, but one or two of the pieces were undercooked. I personally think it could use a LITTLE more seasoning/flavor. But it was good enough for now, and well presented. (Which leads me to my next point) The overall presentation and vibe from the place is great. Very welcoming, relaxing, and courteous!
