It's a STEM school that truly teaches critical thinking at every level. They also teach to the level of each child....something that most public schools cannot do. It offers daycare, preschool and grades kindergarten to eighth. There are about 100 children in K-8. One classroom per grade! It feels like a family. The teachers are kind and caring. No child feels overlooked or left out. The tuition is VERY reasonable and scholarships are available. Besides core classes the students take Spanish, Bible, computers, gym, art and music. Each day begins with prayer. Every Friday the students attend chapel. New construction and expansion is planned this year (2016) as the church adds infant care to its day care services. This will also being improvements to the school such as the addition of a band room as well as locker rooms off the gym. Recently the school's kindergarten teacher, Mrs. Brenda Heintz, was featured on a Grand Rapids TV news broadcast. She won the WGVU Cool Teacher Award. So most of the time they give you ice well more like all the time. Once a girl in my class got pencil led in her finger and all they did was give her ice and did not try to pull it out. I don't know why but we can't wear a hoodie or hat and I ask why but no answer. And they let A LOT of bad stuff happen. Almost every kid in the 4th know a little to much about adult talk and stuff . When we visited Mattawan, we not only felt welcomed but also interested in having our sons being part of their school family.
