Our order was delayed because the delivery driver never showed up, but Brittany completely turned the situation around. Not only did she personally deliver our order herself, she also refunded 50% of our purchase to make things right. That level of customer service is rare these days. What made it even more impressive is that she recently had knee surgery and still went above and beyond to take care of us. That kind of dedication really stood out. Whenever I'm in town, I make it a point to stop here. The bacon candy is absolutely amazing, and the pot roast is always outstanding. The service is consistently great--Luke took excellent care of us during this visit. What really stood out was that the manager, Sheila, recognized me from a previous visit and took the time to stop by and say hello. This is my first time at a Lazy Dog, so I have a lot to consider! First, the overall ambiance and environment are great! I like the decor and the theme, which I might call "casual country/ranch." The layout is nice, with a prominent bar as the central axis of the "wagon wheel" of seating, and additional seating in lower-level dining areas and on the patio as well. They also have an open kitchen concept, which adds a nice dynamic of watching the chefs at work. The hostess was pleasant and quickly seated me, and the server was right behind her. The server, Eric, who was very efficient in all his work, quickly took my drink order (China Mist iced tea) while I finalized my food order. I had found some intriguing items online while scoping out my plan of attack before arriving here on a road trip stopover, but I found something in the paper menu that changed some of my mind. So, I settled on the original idea of Crispy Deviled Eggs (lightly fried, topped with smoked paprika and bacon candy) and switched to a Grilled 5-Cheese Sandwich (cheddar, Swiss, mozzarella, Jack, on Parmesan sourdough toast), with no side and a chopped wedge salad added (plus $5), "86" the bacon. The food came quickly, and I had to try the eggs first, of course! They were indeed crunchy, and the egg white part (which is the only fried part; the stuffing is placed later) was not too rubbery, as I may have thought, given that it was boiled and then fried. The stuffing was tasty, as well (although not as good as MY homemade eggs! ). The grilled cheese was ooey-gooey, and the cheesy (although I thought I tasted some light garlic?) toasted bread was a nice change, and with the assorted cheeses, those cheese flavors all worked together nicely. And the salad, which I did eat "first" (after an initial egg sampling for official Yelp business!), was fresh and generous, and well-appointed with red onion and blue cheese crumbles. The only complaint, such as it is, is that the salad bowl would not hold still! It was very slippery on the table (it seemed like a porcelain-covered metal), so I had to anchor it with a finger while the fork rummaged through the salad. But a minor hiccup in an otherwise great meal. All the food was great, and I took some home as it was a bit too much for me. I will be back for those other menu items I saw, and I'm glad there are other locations closer to the north, where I live, but how have I not heard of this place?!?!?! A NEW favorite! read more

Disappointing. That sums it up. This is unusual for Lazy Dog, but it must be said. We ordered the deviled egg app. Our bar tender forgot to put it in. She took it off the order, then it was brought to us anyway even after she said no. By the time it came, I was not into eating it. In addition, I ordered the bison burger. Not the usual offering, as the patty seemed smaller than usual, placed on a bun that turned soggy quickly. One last observation, it took quite a while to get the check. The bar tender was talking to another server as that server was staring at me. I could be wrong, but I'm pretty sure she was talking about us and hiding rather than confronting the situation. P.S. One of the best restaurant experiences we were able to have while visiting Fresno! Dropped by for a super last minute dinner. We were treating some family since they have never been. It was a SUNDAY evening, around 8pm, and we were a group of seven. The staff were so accommodating and sweet. Our waitress (I wish i remembered her name!) was the sweetest. Even though 4/7 of our group have been to Lazy Dog, in GA, she still went out her way to explain the menu to us. When we had questions on the flight options she was amazing at giving recommendations and describing flavors. We opted to sit out on the patio since the weather was nice and the heaters were on as well as fire pits. Food was great! Everyone was happy. On tap flights were generous and options were many with a wide range of different flavor profiles. Wonderful when you order multiple flights! It was extremely nice to be able to experience home, while away from home, with the familiarity of Lazy Dog and their consistent service and amazing food. Went to Lazy Dog on February 15, the day after Valentine's Day, and the experience was awful. Yes, it was crowded--but the service completely fell apart. We waited a long time just to be acknowledged. No water, no drinks, and the waiter took forever to come back to our table--multiple times. The food also took an excessive amount of time to arrive. The most frustrating part? We repeatedly asked for our check, and the waiter kept forgetting. We were sitting there far longer than necessary, just trying to leave. But we made the right choice coming here because the moment we were seated Alex completely turned our evening around with some of the best service we've had in a long time. From the moment we sat down Alex was friendly, funny, and incredibly knowledgeable. He walked us through the menu like he wrote it himself making solid recommendations for every one of us. He even put us on to a new drink flavor coming out and convinced us (successfully!) to get the pitcher which we loved. What stood out most was how attentive and communicative he was. He gave us a heads-up about a slight kitchen delay, which we really appreciated, but honestly? The food still came out in a great amount of time. And when one of our steaks came out well-done instead of medium-well, he handled it like a pro. He didn't make us feel uncomfortable at all just apologized, had it fixed quickly, and made sure everything else came out right. That's the kind of service that makes you feel valued. Now, here's a fun surprise I didn't expect: they have an actual menu for dogs. As a first-timer, I had no idea. If I am completely honest, we choose this place as this is the only dog friendly restaurant in Fresno that serves the pups a meal beside Eureka burger. We come here often. It's nice that my doggie can eat while we eat. She gets the beef with rice and veggies but we do change for chicken sometimes. Service is always great I have never had a problem with service or with waiting long for a table. I love that there are always sports on the tvs all around and the outdoor patio is so nice and accommodates all weather. Now for the human food, it's really just ok. Filling, tasty, and moderately portioned . I like the breakfast burger for brunch and you can't go wrong with any of the road trip bowls for lunch or dinner. Drinks are always, always good. We've been here a five or six times in the last couple of years, and only had one bad food experience - a guacamole that looked a little off, but smelled and tasted good - but left me with weird guacamole burns for three days. Maybe it was me though. Anyway my wife was craving a Cobb Salad tonight, and their's is spectacular. She ordered that and we split the Crispy Deviled Eggs, and I got the Loco Moco that came with a Marshmallow Brownie and some ice cream that we could split. I had not been to this restaurant in a while, but when I walked in, I was expecting there would be an elephant in the room. Not the uncomfortable kind, the kind that people avoid when they're uncomfortable about something, but the lovely behemoth that had been the namesake of the Elephant Bar. Unfortunately, my experience wasn't as smooth as I hoped. The fireside meals were a good deal, but my server, Skye, was inattentive. Our drinks didn't arrive until we were already eating dessert, and my Caesar salad came out before my water! Even though we both ordered fireside meals, the bill was incorrect. While it wasn't very busy for a Friday night, the service left much to be desired. We had to wait quite a while for a manager, and in the end, we felt compelled to leave an over-generous tip (20%)--which would've been different if the service had actually been up to par. I can say they are pet friendly which when traveling with a dog is awesome, we called around looking for a place that would accept a dog and we were happy we weren't turned away. Thank you Lazy Dog. It's even got a Cool Pup Menu. I started off with a beer and I love wings so that was going to be my initial play start with an appetizer. The beer was great. The wings though came so naked. It was a BBQ, Blue Cheese Dressing and a Standard Hot Sauce all on the sides. I was disappointed. You're a restaurant be creative! Blank naked wings turned me off. The wings bored my tastebuds. A silver lining was their Onion Rings were a standout Excellent! So Judy started off with a house specialty drink. The Smoked Bacon Maple Old Fashioned which was so great! We got the feeling the Cocktails were better than their food. It turned out that way the rest of the day. I moved to the Tequila Old Fashioned after tasting Judy's Smoked Maple Bacon Old Fashioned! My husband and I visited this restaurant yesterday. We had the most INCREDIBLE WAITRESS. Her name was SKYE. She was so caring and helpful. She answered our questions and helped us choose our meal. She brought extra paper napkins and hand wipes for our finger food choices. She politely would check on us to see if we needed anything during our meal. She was IMPRESSIVE. After we were finished we asked to speak with the manager and the assistant manager came to our table. Her name was Shelley. She was very friendly and nice and appreciated our compl about Skye. Since I brought my pup to the valley to visit family, we had to look into dining at dog-friendly restaurants. Initially, when my Dad suggested Lazy Dog, I was hesitant--expecting it to be typical subpar American chain restaurant food. To my surprise, I left extremely satisfied. Our party of four was warmly greeted when we arrived. All of us were surprised with how spacious the restaurant was. The inside was huge, accommodating party sizes ranging from pairs to big groups. The outside was nicely covered and dog-friendly. The ambiance here is casual and family-friendly--it can get loud sometimes. We appreciated how understanding and accommodating our waiter was for our pup. He was also just downright friendly and kind. We were well cared for in his hands. The only thing was that they brought my food to someone else's table, and I had to wait an extra 10 minutes for it. Since we came for lunch on a weekend, we could choose from the brunch, lunch, or dinner menu. We shared the Crispy Deviled Eggs. It was decent, but it felt like each part was more of an individual taste versus a holistic bite. I had the Baja California burger, which I subbed for a veggie patty and tater tots. The burger was big, filling, and not shy of toppings. The veggie patty, on the other hand, was mushy and fell apart multiple times. The lemon pepper tots were great--they had a pleasant lemon taste and a good balance of both flavors. My family all enjoyed their meals. We agreed it was a superb place, and my Grandma wanted to return. Lazy Dog is a 5/5 for a chain restaurant, but if you're viewing it as a neighborhood spot, I'd say it's more of a 4/5. You'll get good food, but certain areas might be lacking. The restaurant is sizable and easy to spot off Blackstone Ave., and there's plenty of parking in their parking lot!
