The facility is clean, the staff is friendly, and they don't try to do that thing some other veterinarians do and push products on you! Suggest them, sure, but they don't push it! We've been taking our cats here for years, even though they are probably one of the more costly places in town. But, you do get what you pay for here. I cannot stress enough how awesome the staff is here, from the front desk folks to the veterinarians themselves. I would rather pay a little extra and get good customer service than the alternative. Some things: 1. They have kitty condos for long term cat stays! 2. They respond to emails (the address is found on their website) quickly. 3. They understand emergencies and try their best to avoid making you and your pet wait. 4. They have totally separate areas for cats and dogs! No awkwardness with a screaming cat in a carrier and a scared dog on a leash in the same waiting area. 5. They utilize the PetDesk app, which is just spectacular for people who use their phones' for everything. Of course you can still call in, but having an app tied to the vet is nice too. 6. Their new(er) location on North Road is such a nice place. It's so spacious. For those new to GI or looking for a place, I really suggest Parks.

My friend jumped into action and called her vet, Dr. Emily, at the Animal Medical Clinic. They cleared their schedule to help me that same day. We had to put Whyatt down. This is not an easy decision to make ever, and under these circumstances - in a strange environment, surrounded by strangers, it was even more difficult. We were fortunate to get a same day appt with Dr Andrews. Teresa, the receptionist, was so helpful & pleasant when we called Our dog had impacted and an infected anal gland. Dr Andrews took care of Maxwell right away and handled him with care. After sedation, expressing and flushing the glands, we were sent home with the appropriate medication and will follow up in 2 weeks with our vet in Tavares, FL. Teresa went over everything with us We can't thank Dr Andrews enough for the time he spent with us and his great care of Maxwell. It is a two layer coat and requires daily brushing. I brush him 4 or 5 times a week and take him to a professional groomer 4 times a year. I made the mistake of booking a grooming at this clinic in the past and they shaved my dog. Grooming was discussed when he was dropped off and I was promised that there wouldn't be any shaving. When I picked him up, he was half shaven! This is very bad for the health and well being of the breed and causes skin issues and can make them sick! Recently, I went back for annual shots and received attitude from the vet. Apparently, he wasn't groomed to their standards, which apparently includes shaving! While the news says that there is a shortage of Vets nationally, I don't think that torturing my pet is in the cards! Because of this, I will look elsewhere for service! Very sad!

A few quick tips: admission is free, gates open at noon, and races usually start around 1:30 PM. There is a hut looking thing at the gates where you can pick up a program for $1 but it's not necessary if you're not bidding. Now, something I think more people should know: horse racing isn't as fancy as it sometimes looks on TV. The horses are beautiful, and yes--you can dress up and lean into that vibe--but the setting itself is pretty casual and real. Think concrete floors, the smell of horses, smoking, and plenty of people enjoying drinks while they watch the races. It's more laid-back, community hangout than polished event--and honestly, that's part of the charm. We arrived early and visited the paddock first--it's a great spot to see the jockeys prepping the horses and gives kids (and first-timers) a closer look at the action. The paddock area is fairly simple (just an enclosed space on the lower level with a wall of windows), but still worth checking out. On this floor, you'll find concessions, picnic tables, and access to the paddock. The upper floor is where the indoor seating and restaurants are. Seating can be a little confusing at first--there's a mix of benches, first-come spots, and reserved sections--but if you stay flexible and ask questions, you'll figure it out. We ended up watching races from the outdoor area on the lower level, which we preferred. The crowd is a mix of all ages, and it felt very family-friendly overall. We grabbed lunch at the on-site Finish Line Restaurant. The food was just okay, but the service really stood out--our servers were busy but one gal went above and beyond for our kids (the applesauce and cookies were a nice touch). We stayed for a couple of races and headed out, but it's easy to see why this is a go-to spring tradition for a lot of people. Whether you're there for the horses, the atmosphere, or just a casual day out, it's a unique Nebraska experience.
