We also loved the grilled mackerel with sorbet on top; who knew that could be done so deliciously! We never had any doubts about the kitchen, so we would try anything and everything they served, and we were never disappointed. As for the service, it was always very friendly and professional, but not stuffy. The servers belied the myth that French waitstaff aren't friendly and chatty. I told him (in French) that it seemed expensive and he said "c'est le prix monsieur". He went to serve another table so I asked the woman behind the bar the price of an Orangina; she said that I would have to ask him. At this point it was clear that we were being ripped off. I paid, left and decided to leave a review or two. I should have asked to see a menu but didn't think of that at the time. It's a clip joint; if they sense that you're not French... beware. The menus are in French, but the staff spoke enough English to work out our broken French. The food was excellent. Quite simple meals like steak and potatoes or the area's famous large salads are what fills the menu. The desserts definitely cannot be skipped. The only downside was the service was really slow and we were often waiting quite a long time for our food or drinks.
