Finally the food was quiet good and the restaurant the Laiterie fantastic. This is a great place to stay in summer if you love hiking or bicycling in the mountain, with friends and family. We waited more than 2 hours at the airport for the hotel transfer, standing up, in front of the exit door, because they were saying the bus is coming in a sec everytime we asked, so we couldnt go to a restaurant or anywhere else. Then they called us, but we waited more than 40 mins outside, in freezing weather with our child because the bus still wasnt arrived! Even though they called us to outside. At last we arrived to the hotel, the day was gone, but again we waited more than an hour at the lobby at 5pm, because room wasnt ready.. Finally we are in our room but its been another hour since we are waiting for our luggages... They are claiming to be childfriendly, is this the service that'll help to parents.. worst start of a holiday. Disappointing :(

A block from the center of town and yet still quiet hotel. 3-4 block walk to the train station. I stayed here for a week as a base for climbing the biggest, most famous mountain passes of the Tour de France and will be back again!

I keep dreaming that someone will one day come to France to make reasonably priced yet decent food on a ski slope...like the burgers you find in Sun Valley in the US... One day... One day... Until then, Val Thorens is as good as it gets.

The bar is reasonably priced and fun. The teachers are nice and can really help you improve your skiing/boarding over the week. You do have the risk of getting an upper bunk - and its not super easy to climb up. Also the quality of the food is dubious on most occasions - with a few pleasant surprises mixed in. This is not the fault of the cooking staff and more a question of the quality of the ingredients. I have gone two years and maybe I'll do a third one... All I can say is: Folie Douce!

(Most decent skiers spend the first hour every morning getting out of the Meribel valley to find some decent thrills!) There are Ski Schools aplenty, loads of half decent restaurants around the valley and really easy access for pedestrians up the mountains so that Granny can meet you with the kids at lunchtime! All the facilities that you could possibly need are in the resort including Professional Ice Hockey!! The final comment is that people who only have French as their main language struggle in Meribel IT'S VERY VERY ENGLISH

Very nice but has its downsides - walls between apartmnents are paper thin & if like us you have noisy neighbours it can be a nightmare. Pool is full of noisy kids apres ski & is tiny - so don't expect a relaxing chill after a hard day's skiing ! Michelin restaurant - very expensive & quite pretentious -but worth the experience. When we stayed, we had dinner included for one night. Service impeccable. Not as expensive as it sounds if you book direct & go in a group.
