Landmark in Lisieux, France…read more.. The Basilica of Saint Therese was our first stop on our French pilgrimage. We drove about two hours from the Charles de Gaulle International Airport (CDG) in Paris. Parking was free! The restroom is in a different building in the beginning of the property. Service was friendly! We wandered around the Wax Museum - even though we were really looking for the tomb of Saint Therese (also known as the Little Flower) and her Relic. We found the Chapel of the Martin Family where her parents are acknowledged as Saints Louis and Zelie. While strolling through the Basilica, we stayed for a prayer service. We didn't understand anything because it was conducted in French language. We did figure out that the Relic was behind Father... and the white marble, rectangular structure at the entrance was the tomb! Wow! It was a unique experience and I'm glad that we had the opportunity to visit Saint Therese who died at age 24 of tubnote cards. We were able to light candles for our special intentions and write them on small pieces of notecards. A Doctor of the Church, Saint Therese is known for her memoir, "The Story of a Soul" and for her practical approach to life - doing small things with great love. She is the patron saint of florists, missionaries, orphaned children, aviators, gardeners, France, and those suffering from terminal illness, especially tuberculosis.

Second lieu de pèlerinage après Lourdes, la basilique s'impose par sa monumentalité et son style un peu orientalisant. Chaque année, des milliers de pèlerins visitent cette église et rendent grâce à la Sainte.
