We almost turned away from this little bakery because I was convinced that a chain wouldn't be good enough. It's like.. when you see people eating grocery store donuts or grocery store bread and you think, YUCK! Why would you waste your time and money?
But turns out, I'm an idiot because this boulangerie was amazing! And it kept some decent hours too so we managed to get in a couple of times in one day AND also right before we left at roughly 6:35AM!
Yes. We stopped in at two bakeries on our way to the airport. TWO. And I regret nothing.
During our short 5 day stay, we had the fortune of sampling so many wonderful things. SO MANY WONDERFUL THINGS. Even as I type right now my pants are feeling rather snug. But back to it, from this amazing bakery chain, we tried:
- a jamon baguette with shaved pecorino and rocket (I recommend this like 348293423892378378 times)
- a salami baguette with pickles
- baguettes fresh from the oven (like.. still warm they said can you wait 2 minutes before I handle them and hand them to you?)
- day old palmier (the shop attendant actually asked if we minded they were a day old, half was gone before she finished her sentence! AND it was discounted to boot!)
- petit strawberry tarts (our favourites)
- petit creme brulee tarts
- petit citron tarts
- petit pain du chocolat (fancy for mini chocolate croissants)
- petit quiche lorraine
- petit marinara sauce and olive tart (so so so so good)
- marinara sauce pizza slice with anchovies and black olives
- a humongous strawberry tart (glazed with blueberries, pine nuts, almond encrusted based and custard in the center)
This doesn't even come close to covering 1/5th of what they had in store. So obviously I need to come back.. I mean, how else will you know how good everything else was?
And I'll say it again, I regret NOTHING! read more
