Le Furet du Nord is a huge bookstore located on La Grande Place in the heart of Lille. It's…read morestories and stories of books and books and more books. And some magazines and some of the other random games and notebooks and the like that bookstores tend to sell. Le Furet is a great place to spend an hour or two just wandering through and checking out the selection. They have a few assorted English-language magazines and a whole section for books, as long as you know where to look. They also have a decent selection of bilingual books, which I think is a pretty cool concept. But why not test your language skills and indulge yourself in the shelves upon shelves and sections upon sections of books en francais?

Mind you, due to weight constraints I do have to resort to only buying one book, but that doesn't stop me looking around. There are quite a few old books in this little shop, which also doubles as a gallery (in that he sells art), though don't expect to find any Renoirs or Monets in here - he only does original works by locals. However, there are quite an extensive range of books, and he does speak pretty good English as well (though since I prefer speaking French in France I generally give that a decent shot). If you do happen to be in Amiens and are looking for some old books, then this place is certainly worth checking out - if you can read French that is.

Our server was a touch cold and aloof but it was ok because they provide you with a paper menu that you can check off what items you want. This is a fantastic concept and I really wish more places did this. Two of us ordered the bagel with hummus, zucchini, feta, olives, tomato, and cilantro. This was not only nice on the eyes, but it was delicious and packed with tons of veggies and healthy shit. I could not have had a better breakfast. GF ordered the omelette with toast and she liked it but it brought up that dilemma that's as old as time regarding whether or not she likes eggs. If you do, in fact, like eggs, this is probably a safe choice. The last in our party ordered the granola bowl with nuts, seeds, fresh fruit, and yogurt. This person is very hard to please but I do remember her being pleased by this dish. They also have a million other things like pancakes, waffles (duh), sandwiches, salads, a dish of the day, a pie of the day, and a bunch of yummy drinks. The environment is SO cozy and a great place to spend some time enjoying good food and a book.
