The hotel itself is situated in Saint Saturnin, which is a smaller village, on a quiet square next door to the cellar of one of the area's more celebrated wine makers, Virgile Joly (yes, purchases can be made). There are no shops or bars in the village (an auberge opposite the hotel closed a few years previously). However, Montpeyroux has all that you need in that respect and is close by. There are two types of room to choose from. We went for the slightly cheaper option (c. €90 per night) and our room was spacious, clean, cool and with free wifi. I am not sure what differences there would have been had we opted for the more expensive option. However, we were very happy with what we had and we enjoyed our stay. Breakfast is optional but, if taken, is eaten in a large open plan space which also incorporates a fairly minalmalist reception desk alongside all the other guests. The breakfast itself is standard continental fare but is perfectly pleasant and the jug of coffee which accompanied it was well made and replenished on request. Before arriving I had been worried about where I might be able to store my road bike (which I had taken on holiday with me). I needn't have worried as there was plenty of space in the reception area for the bike to be left and, after a couple of days, it was joined by two bike 'friends' brought by other guests. Finally, I should mention that the Hotel is linked to two restaurants in neighbouring villages - Restaurant le Mimosa (www.yelp.co.uk/biz/restaurant-le-mimosa-saint-guiraud) and Terrace du Mimosa (www.yelp.co.uk/biz/la-terrasse-du-mimosa-montpeyroux). Both are excellent and the Hotel staff can make reservations, both before or after you arrive.

The property is tucked away and it's not 100% clear where you need to go to check in. It is close to a tram stop, so walking with luggage isn't difficult. Rooms: My students were in doubles and those were tight. The AC was also not turned on yet and it got hot. I was in the 1st floor ADA room which was HUGE. I felt bad since I didn't need the those accommodations. So, it was far more spacious than my other rooms. Again, there needs to be more outlets, especially in the bathroom. The bathroom was fine except there was no curtain or anything to block the view. The toilet faced the window and the shower was in the open. I'm sure it met the needs for ADA but it was weird just looking out of the bathroom like that. Shower pressure was ok but water went everywhere. Plenty of storage in the room. Nice desk area too. The window opens which helps to get circulation. EXCEPT when people smoke right outside or above you and then that's all you smell. Breakfast/Restaurant: The best of the whole week. Lots of variety for breakfast. Prompt service and tasty food for dinner. Very popular. The front desk was kind enough to hold all our bags after checkout since our train didn't leave till late at night.
