First off the owner/host is a bit quirky. Basically acted like he didn't want our business at first (bunch of yanks, none of whom chose French as a second language). In the end he warmed up nicely and was most gracious.... probably as Mrs. S can always impress with her wine choices. Ambiance is a potpourrie (sp) of Provencale kitsch. The menu was daunting for a non native speaker. Seemed to have a lot of Middle Eastern meets Provence choices. I ended up wth a safe bet of Steak au Poivre which was really only so-so. Mr Tex had a Bourride which was excellent. Mrs. S complained of a lack of iron and choose the Route 66 Burger which I was lucky to help with. It was huge.... which normally iis a problem for me since the Germans always equate huge+frozen patty to equal "American". This was anything but. It was basically steak tartar just slightly blackened on the outside (she was warned about the rawness). It was topped with a judicious amount of extras (Germans when will you learn?). And it was rounded out with an almost inexplicable French barbecue type sauce. Honestly, it was fantastic. Wine list was excellent and priced at more than fair Provence levels. I suspect if you came here more often, Mr Owner would be a lot more chill. We weren't put off in the end. Nice place. Def worth a visit.
