They usually spend one to two hours on your feet just for this $30 package. Remove calluses, clean and clip nails, massage feet, orange sugar scrub, hot wax, and a color of your choice. They get busy on the weekends so make an appointment. I was one of the many that tried walking in and was asked to come at a later time in the day. Even then when I had come back people were still walking in and asked to come later on. Some girls have acrylics 24/7. Some girls never had acrylics. I was one of those until I woke up one day and wanted those pointy nails but didn't have the length for it so acrylics would be the only way to go. I came here for them. Since I didn't have an appointment I was asked to come a few hours later which I did but then still had to wait 30 more minutes. If they're going to be too busy to take a customer, just let them know. More people started coming and it wasn't until all the waiting chairs were taken that they decided to let everyone else know that they were too busy to take them. The acrylics + gel took about an hour and a half. It takes some getting used to functioning with long acrylics. The guy was nice and said if they were too long then I can come back in 2 days when he's working so that he can make them shorter for no charge. I didn't know how to use my hands for the first day that I had them but after that it was easy peasy and I didn't have to think about it. After 2 weeks my index finger acrylic nail was getting unlatched from the nail. Acrylics should have staying power even after the 2 week period. I got them removed at a different nail salon and none of my nails were badly damaged as much as I've seen in other acrylics horror stories. read more

Came here recently and decided to give this place a second try because Downey has NO good nail salons, even though last time I was offended and they really embarrassed me and treated my mom and I badly. But for this visit, I was pretty pleased. Mom and I each had a gel manicure. We called on Sunday at 1:30. The male that answers the phones and does the apps asked us to come in at 2:30. We did. I was taken at 2:50 and mom was taken at 3:10. I didn't mind the wait because they took their time with us and I think they did a good job. Two things I am displeased about: lots of solicitors just walk in and bother all the ladies having their nails done and the male in charge (I think he's the owner) didn't ask any of them to leave. Instead, he let each person come around and guilt his customers into donating money. First a kid selling chocolates, then a little boy taking donations for some summer program and then a Muslim lady with a baby in her arms begging in English and Spanish for money with a nicer stroller than mine parked around the corner outside the door. I have her $5 because I felt so bad seeing that darling little baby being carted around. People don't want to have to deal with all that stuff when they escape for a little while to relax and have their nails done. Next time, kick them out the second they appear at the threshold of your business. Don't let them bother your paying customers!!!! Lastly, after a week, my manicure started to appear like the tips had lifted and had a permanent dirty/darkly discolored tip to my polish. Not sure why this happened, but if it happens after I return here the next time, I will update my review appropriately. read more

I have been coming to Le My's for several years now, and I love this shop. They truly are nice folk working here and do a good job, unlike many nail salons nowadays. The staff working here are very friendly, warm and inviting. They will actually talk to their clients if you so engage them. My mom and I are every 2 week regulars here, so we know the staff pretty well. Everyone seems to get along. For the most part, there does not seem to be a constant buzz of Vietnamese going on over your heads as you and fellow customers are being worked on and you sit and wonder "Are sitting here talking trash about us???" Brian and Jimmy run the shop and are both hands on owners and do their fair share of clients; they do not run around like tyrants barking orders at the rest of the staff as I have witnessed in other shops. Both of them are really nice guys. I have been worked on by Steve, Mindy, Tiffany, Monica, Lin, Sophia, Julie, Jimmy& a few others & I can honestly say that everyone does quality work and I have never been unhappy with a service. Found this place when I parked right in front of it on one of my trips to Porto's. I'm usually only in this part of town when I am visiting my in-laws. I've made it a point to visit them at least twice a month to come get my nails done here (although my gel mani's could last longer if my nails didnt grow so quickly!). I would suggest making appointments because they can get really busy! I've been there when they've turned people away for gels due to their booked schedule. They are decently priced! My recent visit cost me only $41 for gel mani, spa pedi and callus remover. Tanya is a perfectionist when it comes to gels but i've also had it done by other's and they are just as good. But I have to say, Jimmy gives the best pedicures hands down! I asked for callus remover (which they dont push on you like other nail shops) and he's got the muscles to do the job! No one should ever skimp on a callus remover! Another reason I like coming here is the fact that they carry on descent conversations with all their clients. Most nail shops I've been to, the technicians speak amongst themselves and in their native tongue purposely so you dont understand what they are saying. Overall, the customer service, cleanliness and workmanship is what keeps me coming back. First time at this salon. This place has a lot of potential to be great and I was optimistic. Ended up being pretty mediocre and disappointing. The pedicure started off normal but then came the toe nail cutting and I was in a lot of pain. Nail cutting is never pleasant for me as I have pretty deep corner toe nail beds but I didn't think I'd start bleeding. I should've said something but I honestly just made the mistake of assuming she knew exactly what she was doing. By the time I was writhing in pain, she was done. Post-pedicure, the corners of my toes felt raw and are in a lot of pain. Beyond that, the massage and relaxing portion was mediocre at best. The massage was about 5 minutes total which was disappointing. I got the deluxe pedi which I would think allots at least 10-15 min massage. When I was done, I sat at a fan to dry but hadn't paid yet and the lady had already gone on to another customer without asking if I wanted to checkout. I had to wait to pay with another lady once she was done with her customer. I've been looking for a new place to go so I'm sad this didn't work out but I've had a much better experience for less. This spot is my new place FOR SURE!! The owner is Tanya and she's awesome at gel mani (I make my appointments only with her) but the other staff is great too. They pay good attention to detail, which I LOVE because I'm a perfectionist n usually I wouldn't be super happy with the finish product at the other nail salons. It's better to make an appointments because they take their time with you and they won't rush just because they get a walking, which I LOVE TOO!!! I'm in Downey for a conference and my feet definitely needed some TLC. Le My's was in walking distance so I gave it a go. When I walked in, the overbearing smell of polish, acrylic, and product almost made me faint but my sense adjusted. (Based on reviews on how busy they could get, I'd called ahead when they opened to make an appointment.) I soon settled into my chair and the woman who would do my pedicure began to draw my water. It was great. Very simple. She took her time and great care. My feet look and feel wonderful. I got the special pedi with the scrub, calf & foot massage and hot stone treatment. No gel, just regular polish. $25, not bad! I've visited tons of nail salons and I'm used to the electric filer, automated nail dry station with fans and UV lights, and fancy features and amenities but this salon had none of that. When my pedi was done, I sat in a little chair in the back of the salon with a miniature fan blowing on my toes until they dried. I didn't care at all. I had my book and nowhere to be.
