We first discovered the joys of the Nordic or Hydrotherapy circuit spa a few years ago when living in Monterey, CA, after visiting Refuge in Carmel Valley. We've since moved to the East coast and I was disappointed that nothing similar exists in the area. I was delighted to find that a number of Nordic spas exist in Quebec and set about choosing one to visit on a recent trip.
After reading reviews of our options on Trip Advisor (few are on Yelp), we decided on Spa Stoneham. The spa was a short 40 minute drive from Old Quebec, through beautiful scenery in the Quebec countryside. The area in which the spa is located is truly idyllic.
The spa itself was absolutely great. The property is a beautiful spread of land right on the Jacques-Cartier river. The views are incredible, nothing but forest, mountains, and rivers. There are plentiful hot, cold, and relaxation stations including eucalyptus steam saunas, traditional Finnish saunas, hot tubs, Nordic baths and showers, indoor and outdoor relaxation lounges, and hammocks. One can also choose to take a dip in the river; however, it was closed for dock repairs when we visited. read more
