    Raspberry tart
    Andre B.

The wife and I passed by this tiny pastry shop and cafe when we stepped out of the taxi on our arrival in Bruges. They were smart enough to put all their pastries in the window to entice people walking by. We were not in the mood for pastries yet, but we returned later in the day before we left Bruges for the day. When we finally made it back, there were a few less options but I was happy to see that the caramel tart was still available. The wife opted for the apple tart. We were disciplined enough to wait until we got back to our hotel in Ghent. Now the apple tart was good but the caramel one was phenomenal! The flavors really popped and the pastry and caramel complimented each other perfectly. Naturally, our second day visit to Bruges meant another pastry stop. This time, the wife got the raspberry tart and I got the rhubarb crumble. Again, the raspberry tart was good, but the rhubarb had that perfect tartness that I was looking for. I would be here everyday if I could. I would also be 25 pounds more.

We sat inside because it was a very hot day. Cute little place!

Came across this little place while looking for brunch -- overall, pretty good! I ordered the Farmer brunch platter and my boyfriend got the Angler platter. Each came with toast, a small parfait, an egg, meat and cheese, a pastry, and a hot drink plus an orange juice. A bit overpriced for the quality of the food in my opinion, but not terrible. If I return I would stick to just a pastry and a drink. Staff was OK too. Not super friendly but not uninviting either. The restaurant itself is very cute and has a cozy atmosphere. Good seating both outside and inside. Worth giving this place a try -- make sure to have a glass of their tasty orange juice if you go! 3.8/5 stars

Although I am aware that The Pain Quotidien is a chain, their menu, atmosphere, service and quality never gives that impression. I am always amazed by the beauty and cosy atmosphere of each location. It is so personal and unique on the inside of each one and I love going there. They have so many delicious and health conscious menu items that offers something for almost any dietary restrictions. Easily one of my favourite chains. They have the best baguettes and make a great matcha latte.

The look and feel of the restaurant is rustic and quaint. We sat outside in the square. I think the server was new and didn't speak English very well, so I understand that I there may be some mistakes. I order the daily special the includes 1/2 tartine and soup of the day and salad. I asked if the meat on the sandwich was cooked and the waitress said yes. I asked what the soup of the day was, but she didn't know the translation. My plate was served with and open faced raw hamburger meat sandwich, and chickpea broth. It was not to my liking. It was pretty bad actually. My friends had Croque-monsieur that was pretty good. Their meal came with 4 1/2 sandwiches and a small salad.

We ordered almost everything and it was super delusions

Terrible coffee, breakfast for 2 came 10 minutes apart. Average bread, slow service, over charged.

May be good food but VERY disorganized. Your order can be delayed or it can just get lost! Needs better wait staff.

We ordered espresso and tea, which came with a miniature sized dessert that was very good. We were too hungry and didn't take pics of the food. Hubby ordered the Croque monsieur, which he said was very good. Kids ordered the Belgium waffle with strawberries. The waffle was nicely crispy, and still light and airy. Kids ate it all. I had the warm goat cheese and bacon salad. It was very good. Sweetness of the corn balanced out the creaminess of the cheese and the saltiness of the bacon. Desserts looked amazing, I wanted to try them all. My son decided to choose the fruit tart to share and it was delicious. Lots of fruits and with creamy center and crunchy shortbread crust.

We walked over and into a cornucopia of pastries. I had never seen a display like this before. I told them that we do nit have a reservation and wold like to have a light breakfast, after a 30 second wait they brought us to a lovely table in the back. A truly delightful setting. We ordered light as I do not enjoy 'bulking up' in the morning when I know that I will be doing a lot of walking and exploring. A pastry each and some coffee was our meal. I was a little disappointed that I didn't order more after seeing some of the breakfasts they were serving. Everything just looked so good. Our waitress was lovely and took very good care of us despite us having a very small breakfast. She was extremely appreciative of the tip we left. This place is a definite stop if when we return to Bruges and we will return to Bruges. KUDOs to the team at Carpe Diem.
