The food here was great! It was excellent quality and was on the healthier side. Upon first walking into Le Pain Quotidien, you are welcomed in by the soft wood tones and cozy European feel. It's a braid space in the Recoleta Neighborhood, it feels very European and like you should have a good book in tow to enjoy the morning. After being seated, you are given menus- or you can scan the QR code at the table to get access to an English version. There were lots of items to choose from on the menu and most skewed to a more healthy assortment. I had the bread basket which came with an assortment of spreads. There was cream cheese, dulce de leche, and fruit spread. All were terrific and the different breads were delicious. My husband had the Eggs Benedict- and that was a home run! I had kind of wished I had gotten that dish, but my bread basket was also really great. The service was swift and kind. The waitresses were attentive and friendly. They have an actual working dumbwaiter, which I found fascinating and fun. This reminds me of a French cafe, with pastries, coffee, and also fresh healthy food. We stopped in for lunch and it was perfect. Not too light, not too heavy. When you walk in, you notice the second story above main dining area. It is a beautiful cafe. And the food being served by a dumb waiter, is a cool concept. The veggie quiche was served with baba ghanoush and a salad. It was delicious considering it was a crustless quiche. The quinoa burger is quite filling and full of flavor. For a brochacho, brown gringo, whatever you want to call my American (pretty much, Miami) ass, LPQ saved the day. I had just finished up the Cemetery and needed a quick bite that wouldn't take 30 min to get to and an hour to eat. I had to get back to the hotel before my late check out at 1. I do practicando mi español when I'm abroad but it was nice to have an English speaking staff AND menu to read from without having to use my Google Translate app. The staff were warm, inviting, friendly, and bilingual for the most part. Ordered a large meal - a croissant, scrambled eggs with side salad, mixed fruit, and a macchiato. The scrambled eggs came out quickly and beyond my expectations. Served in a fresh-from-the-stove cast iron skillet and they sprinkled some seeds and just enough salt to give it additional flavor. The side salad it came withers fresh - and I devoured it sans dressing. The croissant wasn't super hot but warm and had a decent crisp to them. Paired very well with the scrambled eggs. Fruits were fresh and colorful - melon, cantelope, pineapple, banana slices, and strawberries. Really good and again beyond my expectation. The coffee was good too and hit the spot. Not as good as you would expect from a craft spot but hey I didn't come for the coffee. Atmosphere was great, place was well lit, bathrooms clean (of utmost importance!), Lots of wood and colors. Le Pain Quotidien is definitely not a typical bakery and coffee shop. If you're in need of a short break from beef steaks or you want to please a vegetarian friend, this is a nice option, specially for a weekend brunch or late afternoon meal. The staff is friendly and the menu, which has an English version, has an interesting variety of organic and healthy food that are beautifully served. Their version of matcha (Japanese green tea) uses soy milk and is very good, while their "detox" juice is truly excellent and refreshing! Among the main dishes, I strongly recommend their polenta. Went for brunch on a weekday and the food did not disappoint. I ordered the Belgian Waffle with fruit (in-season, fresh) and a Cheese Scone with cream cheese. Service is why I can't give this place 5 stars. I went with a group of 4 and everyone's meals were served at vastly different times (nearly 40 minutes between the first and last person). The food was ok, my first time trying the chicken curry with the red fruit mango chutney. It was sweet but I was expecting multiple complementing flavors and it didn't deliver. I also had the mint lemonade, again the mint wasn't very strong & it didn't have the sour fresh squeezed lemonade tast I was expecting. It tasted more like a lemonade juice drink. Gorgeous presentation though. As for the experience our waitress, Ornela, was friendly and did her 2 minute, 2 bite check back to make sure everything was ok. One of the people I was traveling with sat in a chair with a nail sticking out of it. Ornela apologized which was the typical thing to do but no one removed the chair from the tables. Instead the chair was put on another table and another lady almost sat down on it until I warned her. Besides the fact that no manager came out to talk to us. Great lunch spot, we sat at the community table and had a nice conversation with a family from Australia. We ordered lunch and split the roasted chicken salad and the roast beef sandwich. The salad was very fresh, not over dressed. The sandwich however was amazing, it was crunchy, with tons of flavor from the beef and fresh veggies.
