I would actually give this place 3 1/2 stars. For the price, the food quality didn't match. My wife makes better duck breast at home. Her lamb confit was OK. The Apple Tartin had good flavor, but you can tell it was not freshly made. The vegetables in my opinion were overcooked and not that flavorful. The wine was unremarkable. I'm glad I went there. I may go back and try something if I'm in the area but there are better places to eat in that neighborhood. read more

Our upscale, discerning travel agent selected Le Patio as a great local restaurant in Aix-en-Provence for us to dine at and made reservations for three Angeleno foodies. We all enjoyed a truly lovely and delicious dinner at this very charming restaurant serving Provencal / French cuisine with a tremendous touch of love in every bite. We enjoyed an exceedingly juicy, fall-off-the-bone lamb shank, a melon salad with local Jambon de Bayonne, pasta with truffles, and a beautiful pear tart and ice cream for dessert. How in the world does this restaurant get 4 and 5 star ratings?. Usually you find some saving grace. But we were 0 for 4. Gazpacho appetizer (we each had that) was interesting. Soup itself was average gazpacho. But dumped in the middle was a ball of frozen Barretta. It was literally hard and cold. Terrible. No one, by the way, ever stopped by to ask us how it was. My wife had duck breast. Overcooked and tough. Surrounded by canned peas and zucchini. I had pork. Mediocre. Only when they were clearing the plates did I have a chance to tell them I was disappointed. They offered the standard free dessert that we declined. We waited an hour for our entrees so we were ready to go. With all of the fine restaurants in Aix don't go here. read more

I read about this place through Yelp. It's on a quiet street. It's almost a dark street at night. It's near Fontaine de la Rotonde. We ordered two main dishes and a dessert. The Red Mullet (fish) w Mashed Tomatoes and Rice was excellent. The Chinese Noodles w Shrimps and Veggies was very good. It could have been less salty. But I ate it all. The Tiramisu was served in an ice cream sundae glass. It was also good. I just felt that it didn't have enough 'cake' or 'lady fingers' in it. Hard to tell which one it had. This is the second restaurant I've been to here in Aix-en-Provence. This is the best one so far. read more

I returned to this lovely place after a year and my friend and I had a wonderful dinner. Even better than the first time... the owner smiled and remembered me after an entire year, as did one of the waiters ("This isn't your first time here, right?"). While my beloved Tempier is now €60 (and worth every Euro penny), the ambience hadn't changed a bit. There's still a cute little dog that roams around the patio, attracting everyone's affections. The tapenade amuse-bouche and olive oily crostini were great. I had a filet mignon of veal (thick and very tender) with a terrific morel mushroom sauce that I couldn't get enough of. A green tea crème brûlée fell a little short (a bit heavy on its feet and too thick) but by that time I couldn't be brought down from the high of this charming place with the tasty food. read more

This restaurant was recommended by my hotel.What a great recommendation. The waiters and owner were very helpful and were checking to see if I was enjoying the meal. A must dine in Aix. Classic Provence. Not touristy yet also accessible to those of us visiting. The atmosphere is chic and charming. The staff including yorkie Remus are gracious and helpful. Love this delightful little restaurant! It is one of the only places in Aix where I can have pate de canard and it is terrific. The melon/Parma started can be shared and is delicious. Then there is the Daub that is better than a beef stew, simmered for hours with red wine. Fabulous!!! Try it with mashed potatoes. The service is superior. After a day of 'nosing' around Grasse while on vacation with my mom, the two of us settled in Aix for the evening. By the time we parked the car and got situated in our hotel (the lovely Hotel Cezanne), dinner was on my mind. With so many choices, she sought out the guidance of her travel bible and made reservations at a decently rated establishment tucked away in an alley adjacent to the Cours Mirabeau. One quick call from the maitre d'hotel and we were set to dine for 8PM. Unfortunately, upon arrival my hungry eyes were not enticed by the menu I sat down to. Luckily, I had caught glimpse of Le Patio on our way and remembered noting its name while doing my own perusing of restaurants on TripAdvisor. I double checked to ensure it was indeed the gem I had read of and happily sought a table. So far it's been the best decision I've made yet on this trip. The restaurant is a true gem - the wine, the people, the atmosphere, but mostly the gambons...GET THE GAMBONS. They are the biggest, most succulent shrimp I think I've ever tasted (and I've had my fair share). So if you're looking for delicious French cuisine, and at price that won't dig into your shopping spending, look no further than Le Patio. read more

This was a fantastic little restaurant. Hands down my favorite meal during a recent trip to Barcelona and Provence. The bread and tapenade starter was delicious. I had an amazing linguine with squid - it was seasoned perfect and all of the ingredients of the sauce and pasta came together perfect for an exquisite meal. My friend's lamb was also perfectly cooked. We shared both the panna cotta dessert and the apple tart with ice cream. My mouth is still watering thinking of them. And it wasn't just the food that was fantastic. We loved the ambience of the restaurant and the owner and our waiter were both so friendly and sweet. A wonderful experience. I would go back in a heartbeat if I'm ever in Aix-en-Provence again. read more
