Where to start with one of my favorite restaurants in the French Alps? I lived in La Plagne for the 2007 / 2008 winter season, I have been to this restaurant and its neighboring 'Sports Bar' on dozens of occasions. It is located in Plagne 1800, just across the piste from the main road and within easy stumbling / sledging distance back to your chalet. The ease of access does depend on the snow depth, after a heavy snow fall you may have to wade through the powder, but usually the owners cut a path through to the front doors. The building its self is a rustic log building typical of La Plagne from its years as a mining community. The interior is traditional, with open log fires and simple wooden furniture and the atmosphere is warm and friendly. The menu has many local delicacies such as the Piere Chaud or 'Hot Rock', Cheese fondue or raclette. After you have had your fill in the restaurant make sure you head next door to the sports bar which has the most bizarre interior of any bar in La Plagne. When your ready for bed its only a short walk, but if you ask very nicely the owners may even take you home on their snowmobile! read more
