Needs people who actually care and know how to run a business. If i could provide 0 stars I would. They are disorganized, the owner is disinterested unhelpful and never around. When complaints, legitimate issues are brought to her they do nothing about it. During classes it's loud and filled with the siblings of people in classes running up and down the halls, orobnoxious parents babbling the entire time. It also needs a touch up and looks extremely sad and pathetic. We will be leaving this awful place soon. I'm sorry to anyone who send their kids her and thinks it's a legitimate or real dance studio. Again they ignore any issues, don't listen to parents at all, don't consider scheduleding when making decisions. This place is awful, needs new ownership; new management , and it needs to be fixed. We love Miss Melodee so much it's hard to know where to start. My daughter loves her jazz class. The teacher Miss Chy is incredible - so talented and kind. The choreography is fun and accessible and the front desk staff is so wonderful. Very accommodating, which is really appreciated since my daughter sometimes takes time to warm up to new places and people. They also have done a great job being careful about covid safety too. Miss Melodee is obviously a terrific model at the top because her studio is run with so much heart everywhere you look. read more

We love Miss Melodee Studios. My daughter just had her 4th birthday here. She has been Dancing here since she turned 18 months, or just before. We moved out of the area and tried a few new dance studios and decided to come back to Miss Melodee because it is by far the best we have ever found or experienced! The recitals are amazing... I definitely recommend to put your child in to the dance recitals. It is a lifetime memory and beautiful pictures that you will share for many generations! Management is disorganized, poorly lead, and UNPROFESSIONAL. Many of the teachers tell me how insecure they feel in their employment. I got my two daughters into classes my oldest and youngest daughter was in ballet l or l+. My oldest daughter got into Hip Hop 9-14yrs and my youngest daughter got into Hip Hop from 6-9yrs. Our first class was today. The front desk lady (I don't recall her name) was super knowledgeable and helpful in explaining everything to me. She was very patient and understanding of my 2 year old not cooperating with shoe fitting. The class was very age appropriate and the teacher had tons of patience with my two year old who wasn't the best at listening. Towards the end of the class, my daughter was doing much better. Just felt obligated to write this review because I relied so much on the reviews when trying to figure out the best studio for my daughter. I definitely recommend this dance studio. Super welcoming. Very cozy and friendly. And they have everything you need there (ie shoes, leotards, etc.). We are excited to go back. read more

New management is horrible. We were attending a hip hop class and enrollment dwindled down to two students. We tried changing classes but were told we couldn't participate in the recital anymore. They had taken our money months prior for the recital and would not give it back. Even though they told us she couldn't participate. Costumes hadn't been ordered yet. Then they charged us an extra month we did not participate in. No calls were returned and we lost $250. Horrible company. read more

My daughter was attending Miss Melodee for nine months before I decided to pull her out of the class. My intention was for my daughter to be enrolled regularly. Our family was very happy going to the studio, until we experienced a problem with one of the instructors. When we told Miss Melodee about the problem, at first she was very understanding, apologetic, and explained that we would not need to see the instructor because Miss Melodee removed the instructor from the classes that our daughter was attending. When we realized that we couldn't do any make up classes to avoid this particular instructor, Miss Melodee offered us a prorated payment schedule. Miss Melodee also stated that all previously missed classes will be refunded to us in full. She left me a very rude voicemail saying she will have her bookkeeper write me a check of $54.00 and mail it out to me. It's been 2 months and she has yet to mail me a check. Since then, her husband/co-owner has left aggressive voicemails harassing and intimating us to remove our reviews and blog regarding our personal experience or else this will escalate. read more

This is a great place to look at. But when it comes down to teaching. Very poor teaching styles. Omg I looks through the window. And think to myself. How can a child learn what they are teaching them???!!! They are showing the kids a lot of different things in a very short time. And the kids only have a minute or two to figure out what the hell the teachers just showed them. Plus check this out... Every teacher does not help or guide any of the kids... WTF!!!! I have asked a my child and a few other kids what did you learn in class. And they have no idea. One of them said there is just way touch much stuff to learn. The teachers just confusing them. I had to go and check this place out. Number 1. Location good Number 2. No employees ever greet customer. Very BAD customer service. Number 3. When I walked through the hall very dirty. A few of the counter stools they have are falling apart... Not very safe for customers. Number 4. No teachers ever have eye to eye contact with students or parents... Once again BAD customer service. Number 5. Please close blinds at main entrance all the way down. To block sun from coming in. How can any customers see how there kids are doing in class? When the sun is coming right in to there face??? For my review I would really just give Miss Melodee Studio half a star. Just for good location. But everything else is very poor. My daughter began a hip hop class about 4 months ago. My daughter is older ( age 12 ). Although they have classes for ages 9-13, in my opinion the classes aren't mature enough for a pre-teen. I personally didn't have a problem signing out of the program. Gave my 4 week notice and it was a done deal. The staff was very accommodating of my request. Pros: -Beautiful location for stage performances -clean studio space , newly remodeled -location is ideal for me -cute costumes -miss melodee seems to work extremely hard and takes pride in her business Cons: -if your child is over 10 the classes might seem "babyish!" As my daughter has stated. -I think the free water bottle offer on yelp is kinda silly -I think the older children can be pushed harder If your child is under 10 this studio would be a lot of fun. read more

If you are looking for a welcoming dance environment for your young child, this is absolutely the place! My daughter LOVES the Demis and Clicks class, taught by Miss Melodee herself. She can't wait for Friday to come around each week because it means she can dance again. This is a true testament to how wonderful Miss Melodee and her staff is. We had done a trial at a different studio and my daughter wanted to leave within 5 minutes. At the Miss Melodee trial, we had to drag her out! Definitely worth trying out...but get there early because parking is less than ideal! read more

My daughters have been in classes with Miss Melodee since they were 18/24 months, they are now 9/6 years old. She is the kindest most amazing dance teacher we've ever encountered. She help my girls form their love of dance and I wouldn't think twice in recommending her and her new studio to anyone. We followed her to her Tarzana location from another fabulous studio in Studio City. We live in Thousand Oaks and we never bat an eyelash about the drive because we know what we are getting when our girls are in class. We were at Miss Melodee for one month. My intention was to be enrolled indefinitely because my daughter loves to dance but then we had a very unexpected and unpleasant experience. I thought perhaps it would get smoothed over and then it was handled poorly twice. My daughter expressed interest in a tutu on their rack so we tried it on. It looked a tad small to me so I asked the girl at the front and she said it fit and looked fine. We were about to go into class so I quickly bought it and off we went down the hallway. I could see her pulling on the tutu in discomfort right away as I watched her through the window. After class I asked her teacher if she thought it was the right size and she said it looked too small. I said "That is what I thought and we just bought it up front" She said "Oh i'm sure they will exchange it for the right size. Ok great!!! So we went to the front and there was a man I had never met so I explained about the tutu and he said " Oh I can't take that back" I was a little stunned. I only wanted to exchange it for the proper size, it still had the tag on it and we hadn't left the premises. Not to mention I did feel it was too small initially and it was their employee who reassured me that it was the right size. I have never bought a tutu in my life so I looked to her to know the proper fit. My last statement to the guy was " So you won't exchange it and I am forced to keep a tutu that does NOT fit and I guess I can buy another from your store?????" I left in a huff. I waited a few days and called the front desk. One of the girls had Miss Melodee call me. I was thinking she would apologize and exchange the tutu. OH NO. She first had to tell me that she saw my daughter and thought it fit fine and that her employee said I lied and that she in fact had told me it was too small.WHAT? She talked on and on for about 2 minutes explaining basically why I did not deserve an exchange but in the end she would exchange it if that would make me happy. Well guess what??? being given bad customer service, called a liar and generally insulted in a condescending fashion did not make me happy. So here I am with this tutu that I will just give to a friend with a younger child and I quit the place. I will find another dance class for my daughter. read more

We've had nothing but the most positive experiences in classes for both our daughter's at Miss Melodee's Studios. The teacher's are professional, kind and make our kid's feel safe and loved while teaching them to dance! each year the recital has blown us away and it is always an extremely organized and enjoyable event that our family looks forward to. Miss Melodee and her teacher's are the kind of positive role models that we would like our daughters to learn from and emulate. Miss Melodee has entertained at our daughter's birthday party as well as we have been to many birthdays held at her studio. All have been fantastic. My daughter has been going to Miss Melodee's Studio for some time now and she and I both love it. We started off in the "Mommy & Me" class with Ms. Jacquline on Saturday mornings and now are in the transitional ballet/tap class with Ms Melodee and my daughter loves it. She looks forward to attending her ballet/tap class every week. I recently booked her 6th bday party with them. They came to my home, were very professional and engaged the children for the entire hour. Miss Melodee is simply wonderful! She really cares for each and everyone one of her students and it shows in the way she talks to the children and engages with the parents. I love this school because it's a warm and nurturing atmosphere. My daughter has been attending this school since she was 2 ( she's 4 now). We drive OUT the way to come to Miss Melodee's school ( there is a school 5 minutes from our home), but it didn't have the same warm and inviting atmosphere. Not in the least! Lastly, the staff is amazing. Ms. Sasha ROCKS!!! She's so kind and professional --and has really gone out of her way to accommodate our family. Sasha's consideration is just one of the many things I love about this school. My daughter LOVES classes and thrives here. That's what matters the most. As soon as school let out for the summer, my girls asked if they were going to get to go to Miss Melodee's musical theatre camp this summer. They don't get to dance during the schoolyear because they are competitive gymnasts, but they absolutely love Miss Melodee and her camps. As a mom, I love the care and attention Melodee and the staff give each child. They are so kind and caring. And my girls get the chance to actually dance and sing during the entire camp, not just color or watch movies like at some other camps. I can't recommend her camps highly enough. read more

Classes started out enjoyable but then as the recital neared the instructors were only interested in helping the ones who were going to attend. We opted not to spend 100's of dollars on a 5 minute dance that we could see in class. Also since we started a week after deadline to buy costumes she was going to charge an outrageous late fee. It seems she is more interested in making money on a lot of optional things, pictures, congrats, accessories, costumes, tickets. Then to top it off she changed the class time without telling anyone and after we and others showed up an hour early but at the previous time, the receptionist never apologized and just kept saying we could just wait. I was hesitant to try Miss Melodee Studios for Summer 2012, having had an unsatisfactory experience with the former Ballet Barre in 2010. However, after a lengthy discussion with Owner/Artistic Director Melodee Bridges and a tour of the immaculate remodeled studio, I enrolled my 6yr old and 3yr old for Summer Camp. As my daughters now return to school, I must say I could not be happier with our experience. The overall organization and direction of the program is a perfect fit. My children love to dance but they also love to sing and act. Miss Melodee Studios has a musical theater camp and class that combines voice, dance, and dramatic performance. It is rare to find a program like this for children so young coupled with such a high level of professionalism and expertise. The children are not driven to perform with technical perfection that might squelch their natural exuberance (that's a nice way of saying my 3yr old had an interesting interpretation of the actual dance steps) but both my girls literally beamed from the inside-out after performing voice solos and ensemble routines at the end of each week. My 6 yr old did learn the choreography, read and memorized her voice solos, and practiced at home unprompted. At this age, I feel it is important for children to love what they are doing artistically and that love will propel the discipline to master technique. Miss Melodee Studios provides exposure to the correct technique in an open and safe environment where children can develop at their own pace. The last thing I will say is that, above all, Melodee Bridges is an HONEST and SINCERE business owner. I have had the opportunity to talk to her on many occasions about her plans for the Studio. She is on-site everyday working diligently with her husband and the staff to make the dance program the absolute best that it can be. Melodee is the type of person who puts her heart into what she puts her name on. She thinks like a conscientious parent and that is the greatest compliment I can give. read more

We've celebrated my daughter's birthday at Miss Melodee's Studio last weekend. The party was an absolute hit amongst the kids and even adults. The staff at the studio was so friendly and professional from the beginning until the end that I couldn't have asked for more. Melodee herself was an absolute delight and she made sure that everyone from kids to adults enjoyed the party to the fullest and didn't worry about a thing. My daughter was there last week attending the Dance intensive 1 week camp and she absolutely loves it. The kids do a wonderful performance at the end of the week. She's going back for a second week of camp focusing on Musical performance and we can't wait to see the show. The owners have bought this studio from Ballet Barre which my daughter had attended for 2 years but didn't really gain much and was a bit of a drag for her to go every week so she had stopped for 1 yr but Miss Melody is a really wonderful teacher. My daughter likes her a lot so am planning to put her back in dancing lessons. read more

Oh my stars! My daughter is becoming quite the dancer. I danced a child and it warms my heart to see the girls as young as 2 learning and actually knowing what the steps are. When she is not dancing with Miss Nora she is listening in the car or watching Miss Melodee on DVD. I am hoping she will continue well into middle school like her mommy. Along with learning dance - she is also learning self confidence, to play with others, wait her turn, share and listen to others. Great experience all the way around. read more

My daughter has been attending classes here for a year. The only thing I don't like is that the Saturday classes are very packed with parents. That's typical of course. This is the 2nd dance school she's attended and weekends are always packed. I just wish there was more room for parents to sit. The teachers and Miss Melodee have all been very sweet. Miss Melodee is very good about answering questions via email and in person. I see her take time out with each child outside of class and she's excellent with them in class. Even though the Los Angeles Ballet Academy is right across the street from my house I drive to Miss Melodee's because it's worth it. Teachers, staff and lessons are all extremely good. We are actually taking a hiatus for 2 months because my son takes a conflicting class so I can't drive to both places but do plan to continue in January! She doesn't charge you a re-sign up fee if you want to take a break! read more

Teachers are kind and wonderful. Sasha at the front desk is so attentive and great at what she does. We also held a birthday party here tonight and I am truly amazed at how much fun the kids all had. First and most important, it was staffed with so many staff members for one small party- which means so much attention, care, and making it easy on me to truly enjoy my child's birthday along with the guests. The kids played so many games, had awesome makeup (I wanted some myself it was so cute), and did the cutest dance routine. It felt like sooo much stuff and yet it was all packed so neatly in the 2 hours we were there. I've had parties at countless playgrounds, etc and this one just ranks up there. I guess the biggest reason would be I was truly relieved of doing any work and got to have fun with my kids. It's the only way I can explain it. Both my son and daughter attend classes at Miss Melodee Studios. My daughter has been enrolled for about a year now. We love, love, love it here! It's such a warm, welcoming environment. Melodee herself seems to know every kid's name and is so kind, gentle, and enthusiastic with them. We've worked with 4 of the teachers so far, and I've loved them all. Miss Tammy, in particular, is amazing. As is Miss Jaqueline with the littlest ones. The kids have so much fun, and we feel like family there. Wonderful all around! read more

I was privileged to attend the grand opening of Miss Melodee Studios on Saturday, October 13 and was very impressed with what I saw and experienced! Melodee and Scott Bridges obviously have superb business skills in order to plan such a well organized and fun filled day! After the ribbon cutting ceremony with the Chamber of Commerce, a couple hundred children and parents toured the studio and were then directed to the large room next door for food and refreshments and a show. Melodee Bridges sang three songs from her album, Dancing With Miss Melodee, and led the children to participate. She was fantastic and the children loved her! The teachers then each shared a dance with some of their students. They were excellent! Great door prizes that were donated by the generous businesses in the area were given and then each child received a nice gift from MM Studios. Miss Melodee Studios is, by FAR, the BEST dance studio in the San Fernando Valley. My daughter has had Miss Melodee herself as her instructor for Ballet, Tap, and Musical Theatre, and she is second to NONE! My daughter had Miss Melodee as a 3-year old, and here she is now at age 9, and STILL enjoying Miss Melodee and her Summer Camps. She even has Miss Melodee now for PRIVATE SINGING LESSONS. She is AWESOME! The thing about Miss Melodee is that she genuinely CARES about each and every child that attends classes in her studio. She and her wonderful staff of teachers are caring, nurturing, and very protective of each child in their classes. I recommend Miss Melodee and her staff to everyone considering a dance class.
