The hotel is down a gravel road off of a Main Street so it was loud on the property when motorcycles and cars drove by. Apparently, based on a review days ago, the air conditioning was out. I stayed there September 12 and 13 of 2025 and the air conditioning was still not functioning. The staff at the front desk acted like it was a surprise the air was out. My husband asked for a fan which they did provide. The problem with the fan was that we needed to prop it in front of the windows to get the cool air in. At night time, there was loud music and bass playing. In order to sleep we needed to shut the windows, but couldn't because we roasted in the room. The bed in the room was the hardest mattress I have ever slept on and could not get a good nights sleep. The hotel itself is cute and quaint with nice furniture. There was more to be desired with the free breakfast. The coffee was not great and there wasn't a lot of good options in my opinion. My mother in law, father in law, and husband sat in the bar area. The bartender was there yet they had waited 15 initial minutes to get service/drinks/food. The place wasn't super busy so I was surprised that service was not top notch. The hotel says they are a five star establishment and at most they are a 2 or 3 star. Lastly, my husband and I laid out at the pool for a few hours. We ended up falling asleep on the chairs and woke up to a lot of bites all over our bodies. The hotel may need some bug control especially in the garden and pool area for no-seeums. Le Pigonnet is NOTHING LIKE WHAT'S PICTURED ONLINE!! The website is essentially fraudulent and deeply misleading. If only they could invest that same amount of time and money into the actual rooms. Located by a several block long mental institution, this hotel is a far walk from the city center and anything else of note in Aix. The walk into town is bleak and depressing, as the hotel is definitely located on the wrong side of town, and it is not safe to walk near the hotel after dark. The hotel room was incredibly small and looked like it belonged on a psych ward. For paying over $300 a night can I at least get a painting or decoration instead of bare white walls? And if you are over 5'4" using the shower will be deeply problematic. I could not fit inside it or raise my arms. Let's not forget my amazing view of the parking lot, complete with cars honking. AVOID THIS PLACE AT ALL COSTS!! There are so many options in Aix, don't make the same mistake I did. read more

There is so much to say about this amazing hotel. From the moment I arrived at the hotel it felt more like a bed and breakfast then a hotel because of the personal service. Each person that greeted us was friendly and helpful to us which was so appreciated after our very long travel day from the US. When we drove in the beautiful grounds were so nice to see and the parking available for our car was abundant and easy. Walking through the hotel every part we saw was beautiful and even small details were not ignored. Car: While we stayed there we rented a car so we could travel around Provence. What was excellent about this location is that it is just outside the city and very close to the freeway - best of both worlds. The freeway is about 5 minutes from the hotel which makes traveling around incredibly easy. Room:The room was HUGE! We had two twin beds, two arm chairs, two end tables, a desk, a bathroom, a closet, and a balcony with a lot of room to walk around. It is nicely decorated and feels very clean. The decorations are nice too. It felt very warm. Shuttle: The shuttle into the city and back to the hotel is incredibly easy to use and drops you off in a great location close to everything. Again, the driver was so kind and felt like he'd known us forever. Amenities in room: I was so impressed with all of the little extras in the room including the softest towels I've ever felt in any hotel (or even owned myself); the high end toiletries; free water each day; slippers; a large fridge that is cold to use; a lot of storage around the room; and a great balcony with a beautiful view. Grounds: The grounds are spectacular and kept up beautifully. We were not in the hotel enough to enjoy the grounds as much as I would have liked but what we did see it is truly magical there. The pool is fantastic too. Staff: What can I say about the staff beyond that everyone we encountered was kind and helpful. I speak some French but not a ton but probably 98% of the staff speak a good amount of English which was very appreciated. My mom and I know we are high maintenance when we travel but not once did we feel that we were putting anyone out and they were all helpful and kind with each request. Final thoughts: I'm so happy I found this hotel. I wished we could have stayed in this hotel the entire time we were there, but we stayed in other areas of France. I will recommend this to any friends that travel to Provence and will recommend this to anyone reading. read more

Food was not very good; as a group of 12 we all needed steak knives for the duck. Flight was cancelled, only option was to return, and on a $850+ room they charged us $8 for water and $40 to borrow plug-converters for our phone chargers. don't have enough pull to get taxis on time. deferred maintenance in lots of areas, patio door would not lock, somewhat inattentive staff. great location, beautiful garden, nice pool. read more

Le Pignonet is absolutely stunning across the board. In addition to being physically beautiful (the grounds and accommodations), the food at the hotel was delicious (the breakfast buffet is what dreams are made of), the staff was incredibly kind and helpful, and the location was superb. The hotel really catches the essence of Provence and then some. read more

It may be officially a five star hotel because they meet certain requirements like having a restaurant or a spa, but I didn't feel like this place was quite five stars. Don't get me wrong, it is a nice place. We had a nice spacious room overlooking the garden. Since it was too off season we didn't get to enjoy the garden but we did get a preview of it. Main complaint. the bed was too hard and lumpy. Second complaint the toilet being in a separate room inside the bathroom, smelled really bad. Perhaps keeping that door closed meant that the construction smell along with all the cleaning solutions they use to do daily housekeeping on it made the smell funky in there. There is no vent of course or window inside the toilet room so it just made it bad. On the other hand, the bathroom was beautiful especially in the day when the sun would come during the day. Design was smart, there was space to put my own toiletries as well as the regular bottles they give you. They left a box of sweets in the room and some nuts. Not sure if I was charged for it, but we kept the Aix-en-Provence specialty sweets. Overall we had a good experience at this place, but I personally thought it was way to expensive - especially in the off season when there isn't much to enjoy except your room. read more

A beautiful piece of heaven just within walking distance of the core of Aix en Provence. Everyone's staff was most kind. Whether hanging out by the pool, playing bocce ball with a glass of rosé in tow or walking the gardens. There is a lot of fun at the hotel. The restaurant was truly amazing, prior to eating we hung out at the outside bar and listen to local musicians. The rooms were very comfortable, we had a wonderful view over the back of the property. I stayed here with my boyfriend for one night when we were visiting Aix-en-Provence, and it was the most beautiful place that we stayed. In fact, it was so romantic that he proposed to me in the garden! We will have to come back here on our anniversary in the future. The hotel is outside of the main area of Aix-en-Provence, but it's only a twenty-minute walk, and they have a shuttle that will take you to the town center. It's wonderful to be slightly removed from the center of town since the hotel location is so quiet and relaxing. They have a beautiful outdoor garden, with a pool, bar/lounge area, and an outside section of the hotel restaurant. I would highly recommend making a reservation for the restaurant if you want to dine there-- we decided when we arrived that we wanted to eat there, but they were already booked. The menu looked delicious though! Breakfast was fantastic, the room was beautiful and very large, and we had a lovely view of the garden. They even give you sarongs to wear at the pool that you can take home for a small fee-- a perfect souvenir! Truly, this was a wonderful place to stay. read more

Gorgeous hotel with an elevator, which is a rare commodity in France. Though we couldn't use it due to my low back issues, they have an amazing service which is their hotel shuttle which runs every hour. Their restaurant is spectacular for dinner than decent for lunch. Breakfast not so much. Their room, which we were very generously and graciously upgraded to, is insanely comfortable: their love seat and couch, outdoor balcony, bathroom with separate showers and tub, their desk with straight back chair, plasma screen TV, super comfortable and cozy. There was a as fast where we'd barely left the room because everything felt at our fingertips. The concierge very helpful entire stay, recommending restaurants, etc. They have a three acre garden planted and manicured in the manner of Cezanne, truly it looks like an impressionist painting. You can eat either breakfast or lunch in this garden, weather permitting, which because it's Provence, is most of the time :-). read more

Got the room from hotels.com. It's apparently a leading small luxury hotel. The thing w older places is that they make for a pleasant place to visit but for a place to stay, it loses it's charm quickly. The garden is really cute. The room was cozy with no fan in the bathroom and old wallpaper with matching curtains (very dated). Tucked on a tiny street, it's quiet. The entrance is anti climactic but the back is a pleasant surprise with fountains, gardens, and outdoor dining. I'd pay 100-150$ not what we paid. read more

Hotel Le Pigonnet is truly a special place to make your home away from home. An exceptionally comfortable and charming property, everything about the experience was memorable. The staff is so welcoming and helpful with every request. The restaurant was outstanding; I had my first pigeon ever! It was excellent! The biggest joke of a 5 star hotel I've ever experienced. No concierge, restaurant is closed, pool isn't heated, rooms aren't nearly what the brochure says. After our first night we woke up the following morning to loud banging and hammering below us and on either side of our room (room 36). The renovations on these rooms began every morning and went until 7 or 8 PM each night. When we would return from our business each day at 5 - 6 PM we would drop our things in our room and to avoid the noise we would go to the bar and spend between 100-150 euros (10-20 euros per cocktail). When I tried to email our contact Suzanne or speak to the concierge Gérôme about the issue with the renovations and the loud noise they said that they would get back to me, but never did. It was not until two days before check out of our six night stay that the front desk offered to move us to a new room which was unacceptable. The general manager Tatianna met with us later in the evening and offered to make all of our breakfasts complimentary. We did not even eat breakfast the first two days at 25 euros per person (50 total). This was a small gesture to our lengthy stay. Our last morning at the hotel we ate breakfast prior to check out and had a bag with all of our business documentation stolen. For this high of a rated hotel to allow to men to come in and work a room and make us feel completely insecure about our belongings is uncalled for. Two nights previous someone tried to get into our room at 8:30 PM - the hotel manager told us it was cleaning staff. What would cleaning staff be doing in our room that late? Fire exits and emergency exits were left completely wide open until after dark. This hotel is NOT secure it is NOT enjoyable with the renovations. Do not waste your time or your money feeling uncomfortable or more importantly insecure with your belongings in such an expensive establishment. read more
