The cheese was sweet and creamy and the pesto oil was sweet and wonderful. Then for the main course, my husband chose the duck. It was crisp and juicy with delicious fried potatoes. I ordered the escallop du veau, veal. When it came out it was this bubbly cheesy crock. Hidden below the cheese was a large piece of fried veal, which could have been cooked a little less, soft wonderful chunks of potato, a wonderful broth and more cheese. I could barely eat half, but the people around me didn't seem to have a problem finishing it.

I found the answer 'a lot' a bit glib when I asked about the cost. I found the bedroom a good size but a bit drably decorated however the fact the bedroom flooded quite badly in the passageway & beside the bed near the wall of the bathroom I found a bit fawlty towerish. The location beside the river was lovely with a beautiful walk down by the bank. Downstairs was nice enough, I found the breakfast a bit starchy with limited choice bar bread, croissants etc. The stairwell carpet was a bit threadbare. Didn't partake of any other meals barr breakfast so I can't comment. Hotel is in a nice quiet location.

I've never been disappointed with what ever I've ordered and the service is always great. In the winter the exterior is covered and heated so eating al fresco is not a problem any time of the year. This place was so delicious and reasonably priced (between 13-16 each meal). I had the baked seafood (papillote du pecheur), and my boyfriend the beef and brie tartine (parisienne). The baked seafood (prawns, salmon, another white fish, vegetables) was light, and yet the sauce was creamy and flavorful. The tartine... I'm sort of glad I didn't get that because I would've eaten the whole thing! The cheese was crispy on top and soft and rich beneath, and the bread... oh the bread... The portions are generous - especially the tartines - so come with an appetite! The chef was very friendly and explained the menu, and I loved the atmosphere as well. I would highly recommend a visit - I will definitely be back if I'm ever in Orleans again! Love!
