I had recently arrived from a VERY long day/night of travel (almost 20 hours!) and I was very tired, so the following day I woke up very late! Having said that, I know European friends do not eat lunch after 2 pm since that is the time that they take to eat their lunches, gather with friends, siesta and prep for the evening meal as well. I approached La Petite Borie because it was within steps of my Apartment and decided to pop in for lunch. It was about 1:40 pm (a bit late!!!), but the owner/manager greeted with a smile, reminded me that they will close shortly and suggested a great duck dish for me to enjoy! My waitress was super sweet, quick to bring bread and water! I also ordered a salad which was a meal in itself, but it had been a few years since I visited France so I had forgotten that they usually serve some greens with the meals. I did my best to eat it all and then my main course arrived. (I ate it quickly so I didn't get a chance to snap a photo--sorry!) but I assure you it was a delicious as EVERY SINGLE MEAL I ate on my visit was!! The duck was cooked perfectly, it was succulent, flavorful and perfect. I believe that I had Pommes de Terre Sarladaises and they were the perfect texture and made a great match with my duck and salad. I noticed that they were closing up and the owner/manager just smiled and said, No worries, I will have you stay with us and just let me know when you are done! So I had the whole (beautifully charming place) all to myself! I paid, and then had a nice conversation with him and my waitress and left with a smile and a full, satisfied belly!
