She was lovely and was able to communicate easily with us in English, which was so helpful, as our French is far from good. The home is beautiful and quaint! I am a cleanliness fanatic and Chez Hubert was spotless!! Our room was lovey and having our private bathroom was perfect. Lucas was our host for most of our time there. He is fluent in English and French. He is so kind, friendly, welcoming, and helpful! (and an amazing chef!). We have welcomed him to visit us if he is ever in the states. The breakfasts were homemade and delicious, and each day was a different main part of the meal. There was also fresh fruit, fresh breads, jellies, peanut butter and hazelnut spread each day. Beverages of coffee, tea, and orange juice were offered every day. Chez Hubert's location is perfect. You step out of the door and you are in Old Quebec City. An easy walk to all of the amazing sites. If you are lucky enough to travel to Quebec City, the place to say is Chez Hubert!

You easily can walk up Côte de la Montagne (the street) to the upper old city, or down it or the Escalier Casse-Cou (the stairs right next to the gîte) to the lower old city. When we stayed here in 2004 (it was memorable), we had some plumbing issues that weren't handled as effectively as they might have been (my wife would rate it lower, but this isn't her review), but the breakfasts and the rooms otherwise were fabulous. The breakfast was prepared for us individually in the kitchen of our 'room'. The check-in is at the Hôtel St. Paul, 229 rue Saint Paul, which is also where the staff is based, since there's no room for them here, just three floors with the three rooms. That situation has both pluses and minuses. On the whole, however, the staff was very helpful and friendly. Seriously, a charming, comfortable place with great amenities. One thing to be aware of, you have to check in at a different hotel to get keys, etc. If I hadn't seen that online and got there after trying to find it for 90 minutes, I would have gone ballistic.

It is really more like a small hotel than a typical B&B, which may or may not be what you are looking for. I still don't know anyone's names, since we arrived after hours in the evening (letting ourselves in), and when we arrived at breakfast in the morning, no one cared to introduce themselves. We mentioned who we were, and that Paul (whom I had contacted by email) had said that a vegan breakfast could be prepared for us. I said this in French, explaining as best as I could that we were "vegetalien," and what this means, repeating it on subsequent mornings. Nonetheless, the only food I am really sure was vegan was the fruit. Every day, we were served pre-wrapped packets of real cheese, which made us wonder if the crepes we were told were made without eggs, and with "olive oil," were really vegan. This was stressful because we didn't want to seem ungrateful for the supposedly "vegan" breakfasts, but we also didn't want to eat them if they really weren't. We would much rather have been told that they don't do vegan, but that we'd be welcome to stop by for coffee and fruit, and get a more complete breakfast on our own afterward. Overall, the place is fine, the only real problem being the noise level from the street, which is only solved by running the window air conditioner as white noise; I don't know what might be done when it is too cold to run the air conditioner. We couldn't have slept with the noise level that existed before we turned it on. The free access to a computer near the breakfast room was a nice bonus, as was the free parking.

The host was a great help in learning the ins and outs of the city and was a lifesaver in helping us find parking on one of the busiest weekends of the year.

I highly recommend booking the Royal Suite - the room is comfortable, opulent and very spacious. As most other people have mentioned, the designated parking garage is about a 12-15 minute walk from the hotel which you'll need to get a key for during check-in. Quebec streets and parking spots are very narrow, so just be aware if you're travelling with a large vehicle.

Phillips our host was helpful and discrete (we love discrete host since we are visiting the city and don't need to be entertained by the B&B owner). The price was more then right for the room, after searching we felt it was the best value in the area and parking was included. When we were searching a B&B we found that very few of those in old Quebec have parking facilities. At Le Château du Faubourg parking was interior and included in the price. Next time we are visiting beautiful Quebec City we will be back at this great B&B.

The home & our room were very beautifully and tastefully decorated. I loved the super soft RL bath towels and fluffy bath robes. Our room was really lovely: very well decorated and maintained, very comfortable bed, and lots of candles. The breakfast was delicious!!! Lots of fresh fruit salad, crepes one day and ham quiche the next, cheeses, fresh bread, delicious pastries, lovely coffee, and fresh juice--what more could you ask for?! Overall a great place to stay: conveniently located, amazing breakfast, clean and comfortable room, and very well priced. I would stay here again!

I have pictures to proof it but couldn't figure out how to upload it here. they refuse to refund me !

My wife and I stayed here 5 nights and never had trouble sleeping and left our valuables there with full confidence. Another great thing about this place is the location. It is located on "restaurant row" which is Saint-John. A creperie called le billig is a 60 second walk and has delicious food. There is also the best coffee shop you will ever go to right next to the B&B. This place is serious about their beans. The Old Quebec City wall is only a 10 minute stroll away with Old Quebec right after it. We stayed in the yellow and green room. Both were very nice. The yellow room is better for a couple and the green room for a couple and a child. The breakfast was always timely and fresh. She caters to your schedule by asking when you want breakfast (between 8 and 9:30 am). Yogurt, granola, and fruit every morning with French press coffee. She switches the main meal every day. We had waffles, crepes, and an egg and cheese bagel. The only downside to the breakfast for me was the lack of meat. I am a carnivore but I was still pleased every day.

To me this was an excellent start to our day of sight seeing. Also, you cant beat the location and proximity to the old town.
