This one stood out as the best of them all. After reading all the positive reviews, we chose Dans les bras de Morphee. If you want a fabulous experience of the quiet countryside, then this is the place. We chose the "honeymoon room" and it was very clean and comfortable. And we totally agree with another reviewer that the breakfast is "out of this world". The place is owned and operated by two very sweet couple Marc and Louise. Marc has told us that he has had training as a chef. That explains why the breakfast was so good. We wish he also served dinner. He has his own bee-hives which he uses to make his special lavender honey and which they gave us a jar of. We didn't get to see most of his other farm animals because they had been taken somewhere else for the winter, but we got to see the quails that were still there. While we were on the island, we were looking for places to eat for dinner and their restaurant recommendations were excellent. We're definitely coming back here for one of our anniversaries.

Exceptional Stay in the Heart of Old Québec…read more L'Hôtel du Vieux-Québec was our home for a six-day holiday in Québec City, and we could not have chosen a better place to stay. Our double queen room with kitchenette was spacious, immaculately clean, quiet, and exceptionally comfortable. After long days exploring the city, we particularly appreciated the deep soaking tub, the rainfall shower, and what may have been some of the best water pressure we've experienced in a hotel anywhere. Small details matter, and this hotel gets them right. The location is fantastic--perfectly situated within Old Québec and within easy walking distance of the city's historic sites, restaurants, shops, and attractions. Despite being in the heart of everything, the hotel was remarkably peaceful and quiet. One of our favorite amenities was the guest lounge and its outstanding coffee machine, which quickly became part of our daily routine. We also opted for the breakfast package, and it was a delight. Each morning we awoke to a basket of fresh breakfast goodies hanging on our door: fresh pastries, juice, yogurt, and other treats. We never tired of it. As a fun local note, visitors should know that the beloved pain au chocolat is called a "chocolatine" here, just as it is in the south of France! What truly sets this hotel apart, however, is its people. M. Pierrôt deserves special recognition. He was warm, helpful, knowledgeable, and always greeted us with a genuine smile. In truth, every member of the staff we encountered embodied the hotel's reputation for friendly, personalized service. We also appreciated staying in a property with such a rich history. Built on land once known as the "Garden of the Poor," where medicinal plants were cultivated by the Augustines of the Hôtel-Dieu de Québec, the site has witnessed centuries of Québec City's evolution. Today, the hotel beautifully blends that historic character with modern comfort and thoughtful amenities. It is easy to understand why L'Hôtel du Vieux-Québec has earned such an outstanding reputation among travelers. For us, it was the perfect base from which to explore one of North America's most beautiful and historic cities. We would not hesitate to stay here again and recommend it enthusiastically to anyone visiting Québec City. A sincere thank you to M. Pierrôt and the entire team for making our holiday so memorable. We hope to return again soon.

My wife and I stayed here 5 nights and never had trouble sleeping and left our valuables there with full confidence. Another great thing about this place is the location. It is located on "restaurant row" which is Saint-John. A creperie called le billig is a 60 second walk and has delicious food. There is also the best coffee shop you will ever go to right next to the B&B. This place is serious about their beans. The Old Quebec City wall is only a 10 minute stroll away with Old Quebec right after it. We stayed in the yellow and green room. Both were very nice. The yellow room is better for a couple and the green room for a couple and a child. The breakfast was always timely and fresh. She caters to your schedule by asking when you want breakfast (between 8 and 9:30 am). Yogurt, granola, and fruit every morning with French press coffee. She switches the main meal every day. We had waffles, crepes, and an egg and cheese bagel. The only downside to the breakfast for me was the lack of meat. I am a carnivore but I was still pleased every day.

Our hosts Louise and Rene were wonderful, they made us feel welcomed and at home. The morning breakfasts were delicious and served in the library. To me this was an excellent start to our day of sight seeing. Also, you cant beat the location and proximity to the old town. I highly recommend this place and if ever in Quebec City again would definitely stay again.

I hope all my relatives there will understand. He made our stay pleasant and fun from the moment we pulled up. He helped us park, helped us get acclimated to the hotel and the area, and seeing our stress level after our long drive, told us where to get a bottle of wine and showed us the patio. Aside from being completely charming, hilarious, and a total gentleman, he also made great recommendations for area restaurants and attractions, and taught us a bit of French and a whole lot of history. Mr. Dulac was completely unobtrusive during our stay, but made himself available whenever we needed him. Our room at the Auberge Aux deux Lions was clean, comfortable, and had everything we needed. We also made use of the common kitchen area on the second floor which included a coffee maker, a small fridge, and an ironing board. We stored leftovers and bottles of wine in the fridge and used the wine glasses provided. Though the Inn was booked to capacity during our stay, we never saw or heard another guest. The Inn's location in Upper Quebec City is ideal! It is a close walk to Old Town and to fun shops and restaurants on Cartier Avenue and the surrounding streets. We spent a great deal of time walking around the City and we were happy we had a comfortable place to return to each night. We will definitely be returning to Quebec City soon and will give Jean-François a call when we do!

The room we stayed in - La Brunante - was for my money distinctly better than the other options: a spare, Japanese-style room with a vast and snowy king-size bed with a spectacular view of the wintry Saint Lawrence river. The private bathroom has a deep soaking tub that's almost as rewarding. The proprietor, Sylvain, is helpful without hovering, and his breakfast (served from 8-9:30 sharp) is worth waking up for: even in winter, we got four courses of fresh fruit, juices, crisp bacon, an effervescently light quiche. There's a stretch of beach just across the road to ramble on at low tide, and two downstairs fireplaces for warming up afterward. Definitely worth a stay if you're in town.
