I'm quite relieved that I was trekking when I came across this little gem otherwise I could have spent a fortune in here. Unfortunately (or fortunately) the inability to carry much kept my purse firmly closed. Well, almost, one small item won't make much difference in my rucksack...! Everything in here is produced in Cornwall by local artists and included all crafts ranging from pictures, to ceramics, woodwork, jewelery, fabrics and furniture. It has limited opening hours but definitely worth checking out if you are in the area and are in the market for a few new purchases.

Not necessarily the cheapest place but locally the place you are most likely to find what you need, especially if its something a bit more specialist. Also ideal for gifts for family and friends who are in to crafting as they do gift vouchers. Mail order is also available for those who perhaps can't get to the shop. I have always found the staff to be friendly, helpful and knowledgeable and the shop clean, tidy and well laid out.

The staff are always friendly and helpful, offering good advice on products when consulted. Their product range is up to date and on trend, with a wide variety for all levels of experience in crafting. They offer a reward points system, which is a lovely bonus to us avid crafters, who tend to 'spend rather a lot'. This shop has to be one of my favourite haunts and I highly recommend it to anyone of the creative breed.

The Salt Cellar Workshops is based in an historic building on the Porthleven harbour side, originally built in 1816 to store produce including salt brought in by Norwegian ships, it is a fascinating melting pot of creative local talents. The images of landscapes and weather together produced by the eponymous Anthony are ones I find both soothing and stimulating. In addition to his own artwork, the proprietor displays art by a number of other local artists. It's a good range, and well worth thumbing through the racks of prints as well as examining the wide variety on display. I passed a most interesting hour chatting with the man himself, as we went to Cornwall off-season and there were few others around, and I found his conversation as interesting as his art work. This little gallery tucked away at the side of the Mullion Meadows craft centre would be worth the detour to this craft centre on its own (if one was, for instance, taking a trip to the Lizard point, or Mullion itself, anyway).

The store is a nice combination of hipster and traditional ironmongery and other fittings etc. There were some old school toilet roll holders that probably grandparents remember and would surely ruminate how odd that they have returned to fashion. That kind of stuff. And then there is the gorgeous glass soap dish that I can't get my mind off of right now. I think their website is more awesome and perhaps more stocked than the shop. But in Falmouth, I also found an unusually nifty selection of coffee table books that will surely impress your friends. Saw some BuJo's but they were stupid expensive and made in China, so I put them back. Boo! The shopkeepers were very friendly and I'll be back.

A great place to stock up on some unusual greetings cards. The also have exhibitions upstairs featuring local artists that change on a regular basis. Great for a browse even if you don't end up parting with any cash.
