I love that it is discreet - a little tricky to find, but not somewhere that leaves you with your mother-in-law demanding to know what you had done at the cosmetic surgeon - didn't she see you going in there last Tuesday? So far, for me it's just laser hair removal, which is a step up from waxing from which you'll never look back. It's a little bit painful, and a little bit expensive, but neither negative will take away from the fact that once it's done, it's done. No more icky sticky wax, frustration with the temperamental Epilady or scars from the blunt razor. Sadly neither this clinic nor any other can address the basic limitation of laser hair removal: it won't work on blond hair or hair that is too similar in colour to your skin.

Located right beside the Dymocks book store on George St. I was greeted by the receptionist and was asked to fill out a form as I had not been here before. Form took a total of 3 mins to fill out. My appointment was for 11.45am and I was told it wouldn't be too long a wait. Shannon came out after I had finished filling out said form and showed me to a room. She was very helpful and pleasant as it was my first visit. The session took a total of 10 mins and Shannon explained the whole process before and during the appointment. Very professional. I was happy with the laser hair removal sessions with my normal beautician until my last one. My normal beautician wasn't working that day so they assigned me a new one (with the owner coming to help after). They pushed so hard to sell their services, which I'm fine with and I actually bought a lash lift session, paid on the spot and went to the appointment the next day. First of all, I was told tinting came along with the package when I paid. My hair is black. I don't need a tint, but I certainly don't mind it if its free. Secondly, their shop was busy that day and they left the solution on my lashes for too long till my lower lash curled hideously!! After the treatment, I went out to say thank you and goodbye. Guess what, the owner ASKED for money PLUS the tint. It took me 3 minutes to "refresh" her memory that I've paid the day BEFORE, and I even asked if that was it (as in are we done, don't I need a receipt etc) after money was changed hands and they said yes, I can leave. I figured its only the next day and it shouldn't be any problem but they asked me for a receipt of payment. Like WTF. She hesitantly agreed I've paid but still insist on me paying for the tint that I do not need. I prepaid so that I don't have to bring money around all the time, so I didn't have any then and she sarcastically said its my "Christmas present" with some racist slurs and stares like WTF. Thank God I didn't extend my laser sessions with them. BEWARE everyone!!!!

Afterwards your face feels really soft and subtle like a baby's behind or so they say. BV Laser offers occasional specials such as happy hours in which some of their services are cheaper then usual which is great for all those soccer moms and dads of this world who are flexible on time. They stated that I either fitted in with them or lost the first round of laser. Eventually we reached a compromise and I was given an evening appointment but on a date that was incredibly difficult for me (I was only given the choice of one week or the 'expiry' date would hit). My main issues is their refusal to be flexible with dates even in the face of their own inability to act like a business and answer their phone, messages and emails and then making out like I was the one being difficult. I would never recommend this place to anyone. Dealing with them was an incredibly stressful and awful experience. If you don't have the facility to deal with customers who buy your service through Groupon to try out the place THEN DON'T ADVERTISE A VOUCHER.

I spotted a request on their window looking for people who would be happy to have a student practice waxing on your body. I haven't waxed for a while (not during pregnancy or 1 year post baby - aaargh!) so I was going in with the fear - long hairs hurt! Not so much it turns out. These girls use hot wax and trained by the experienced and personable beauty therapist, Sharon. I had hair being pulled and plucked from every direction with two girls working on my legs, bikini, underarm and eyebrows. They were lovely and good - like I said they had a great teacher. I will be definitely going back next month. Especially if it's on another 30+ degree day as they've got air con in their lovely Neutral Bay premises.

The crew talk amongst themselves non stop, no attention to the paying customer beyond "choose your colour" when you first arrive. The constant chatter in Vietnamese is not at all peaceful and the costumers feel rushed cash cows being ignored and bled. One girl walked out while waiting and I would have too but was already soaking and stuck. My manicure did not even include cleaning or massage. It was just about a rush colour and go then not even a pause in the chatter to say thank you when I paid. Just took my money and flicked my change onto the bench mid sentence and walked off. After a stressful day at work a peaceful interested manicure and pedicure should be a pleasant experience. Today was not. And the job?? The filing was back and forth sawing. My nails felt shredded and were not the same length. I had a critical bleeding too. In short give this store a miss. Management has lost touch.
