I've gone with my sister, cousins, or extended family for a stroll, a meal, or shopping over the years. There was even a time, a year or two ago, when I found myself there three times in two days! When my sister and I were just visiting Toronto a few weeks ago, we had lunch with cousins from out of town at the CF Shops at Don Mills. There's something for everyone and plenty to see and do. The CF Shops at Don Mills is known for some great restaurants. While there are some upscale and casual restaurants there, my favorite is Joey's, and I also really enjoy stopping by Lindt for some tasty chocolates. Other restaurants include Jack Astor's, Pi Co., Eataly, and the Good Son, among many others. There are also plenty of shops, from upscale shops to more casual ones like Bath & Body Works. My favorite stores are Roots, Miniso, and on our last visit, we even stopped by the World Cup store, which closed the week after we were there. There are also experiences with the interactive Town Square water fountain, where children frequently play and splash during the summer, and a miniature train that kids can ride. There is also a movie theatre, pickleball, and plenty of events, from an outdoor market to chess in the square. While store and restaurant hours may vary, they are typically 10 AM to 9 PM on weekdays, 10 AM to 7 PM on Saturday, and 11 AM to 6 PM on Sunday. There is a free parking structure. The patios vibes just feel that much more inviting when your views aren't of the busy main roads. There is a central area where shoppers collect to have an ice cream or a coffee from the nearby patisserie. This area is always so lively. Despite the lively surroundings of this shopping centre, there is a calmness that comes with the experience of shopping here. Many relax in the Muskoka chairs by the fire pits or sit at the picnic tables while they let their kids roam free - a nice community feel. Security are always around and very friendly. There is a movie theatre, numerous lovely restaurants and fast food options, grocery stores, and some mid to higher end shops. They also run some very organized and exciting children's events - our favourite has to be the Trick or Treat event around Halloween. Everyone comes dressed up in their costumes and run from store to store collecting treats at participating retailers. This place is also beautiful during Christmas time. The central area turns in to a small skating rink! Would love to see more outdoor outlets in the city like Shops at Don Mills.

The Beach Mall has been a fixture of my childhood. This isn't your typical mall. It's a small,…read moretwo-storey building that was previously the Allen Beach Theatre decades ago. I passed by this mall walking to and from my elementary school. I remember these orange-red ball-shaped lights dangling from the ceiling. It had that 70's look for years and I hope that they are gone now. Before Shoppers Drug Mart set up shop on Queen Street East, Beach Mall had a Guardian Drugs with a post office. My mom would ask me to go to the post office and send letters to Hong Kong through registered mail. She gave me money. I look back and that was a huge responsibility for a kid. I was good and never spent the money on candy at the variety store a couple of businesses down from the mall. Perhaps that's one reason why I ended up liking numbers. I was good making sure that I had returned the remaining change to my mom. I was such a good, weird kid. The drug store is long gone. Many of the stores here have turned over. Lido's in the Beach used to be a restaurant and bar at this mall. In my last year of high school, the provincial government decided to scrap giving $100 to each graduating student who made the honour roll. I was not pleased, as were many of my friends. Lido's was so nice to shell out $70 for each honour roll student that year. It meant a lot. Sadly, this restaurant is gone. Pizzaville has taken over from where it used to be. The mall still has a walk-in clinic. There's a martial arts studio, daycare, and a few other businesses. It's more of a community-based mall than a large retail conglomerate that you associate a mall to be these days. I'm glad that Beach Mall is still alive and kicking. I believe that there used to be parking at the back of this place. Otherwise, you can park on Queen Street East, or along Waverley or Kenilworth Avenue. I'm not sure if this stretch of Queen Street East is metered parking these days. You can definitely park for free along the other two side streets. (69)

It's right across the street from the Costco on Overlea Blvd. It can get busy, and they had a vaccination clinic when I was there. I can't say it's a place you would want to stay for long. It's a little dingy and has a retro feel like I'm walking into 80's. However, I can see if I live nearby, it would be a one-stop to get a lot of errands done. From the brief visit, I saw an indoor food court with some fast food stores open, independent tech/cellphone repair stores, shoe repair, a plant store and other lower-end cheap clothing (ie. cheap knock-offs).

We occupied the ninth floor. I loved the location. I'd take the GO train from Markham down to Union Station, and take the PATH briefly to Brookfield Place. There are a bunch of elevators that don't all go up to the same floors. You need to find the floor interval that suits where you want to go. If you are a visitor, Brookfield Place is beautiful. I remember taking a couple of Swedish colleagues to a Toronto Maple Leafs game and we passed by my old workplace. The Hockey Hall of Fame is located in Brookfield Place. I suggested that they go, as they were huge hockey fans like I am. They went the following day and absolutely loved it. My love for Starbucks is due to working at Brookfield Place. I'd drop downstairs to get a drink and take a breather. It's convenient to do a bit of shopping or grab a bite to eat. There's a food court where there are many fast food eateries. I'm sure they have changed since I was last there. There is also a Longo's Market. I'd often get cubed fruit, such as watermelon and cantaloupe, that was easy to eat at my desk to keep me content throughout the afternoon. There used to be a Marche, where you can choose from sandwiches and hot meals. I don't think it's there anymore, but it was awesome. The top floor is where you get to see the high glass ceiling and gorgeous architecture. I didn't appreciate it when I worked here because it was a fairly crazy time in my life working full-time and doing a master's degree part-time. However, when I have returned as a visitor, be it during Nuit Blanche or when I'm heading to Scotiabank Arena, I appreciate how beautiful the crystal cathedral of commerce is. My favourite memory will always be lining up with a few colleagues to get a free heart rate monitor on the first floor of Brookfield Place. We enjoyed missing a bit of work, chatting with one other, and getting a health gift in return. I gave mine to my parents and they still use it to this day. I miss Brookfield Place and the various giveaways that take place. I don't miss the job that I had or the stress that I had experienced. Luckily, I do get to drop by whenever I'm attending a concert. This is also connected to the underground path network which has a few connections to the main walkways. transit options are union ttc subway station and the 504 king streetcar (both the A and B versions, in both directions) , both options come with a bit of a walk, as this is down on college away from both the station and the surface stop. parking is in the area, but it would be above or below private lots with a bit of a walk. love coming here, even if its random, or out of the blue.
