I was warmly greeted when I came in and given my choice of table. I was attended to instantly and politely. The people who run this place are nice. I only wanted something small and chose the Turkish bread roll with egg and bacon with bbq sauce. It was lovely and generously sized for the modest price tag of $7.50. It was interesting watching the customers here. A middle aged woman with her mother. A younger mother in sportswear. Some Irish tradies tucking into large breakfasts and coffee. A father with his young son after the latter's basketball game. No hipsters in sight despite the fact that they'd really like the place. I had a good time here and would happily return.

I'd call it decent. I haven't had a bad experience, but by the same token, I haven't had any outstandingly good experiences either. Honestly, it doesn't really come into consideration when you're carrying a few bags of shopping and you've been on your feet for the last four hours being dragged from shop to shop.

Fast forward to 2011, and here I am, drinking the bloody stuff. They do some very cool juices, and I've come to appreciate what they do as being a bit like a cocktail bar without the alcohol. This was the place where I first tried the stuff, and since then, I've had different juices here and there. I am generally pleased with the service that the staff there provide, but it certainly can be busy at times. I like this place, but don't tell my mates that.

Unfortunately, with Leos looming large just down the road, this proved not to be the case. The Rustic Table was then taken over by a new team, who have let the deli and produce sections dwindle, and sadly haven't really found their focus, or point of difference, in a strip which already has several successful coffee shops. The menu is nothing you can't get elsewhere, the homemade cakes have been replaced with more standard offerings, and nothing here is really making this place stand out. It's a shame - there are so many things that could be done here, but the decidedly jaded outlook probably spells another turnover for The Rustic Table in the not too distant future.
