First time at Lee's we got two drinks. A banana coffee and strawberry matcha. The service was nice and pretty quick. The drinks looked amazing. Unfortunately, they both tasted underwelming. The strawberry matcha was watery with not much macha flavor and we couldn't taste the strawberry flavor after mixing it either. As for the banana coffee, it's basically Vietnamese iced coffee with banana cold foam. The banana cold foam tastes highly artificial, kinda like those banana runts candy. Don't get me wrong, I love me a handful of banana runts but in this coffee it didn't work. Didn't get to try any food although they looked good.
I stopped by Lee's Sandwiches because I was in the area and social media led me to try their Biscoff Coffee. It was good but it wasn't worth the $6 I paid for (which was the small cup). They only fill the cup barely half way with coffee and the rest is crunchy ice, cold foam and Biscoff crumbles. The service was basic also. It didn't look like they were happy to be there either. 3 stars
A quick grab and go type of place but they do offer some dine in seating. I got the Vietnamese coffee with coffee jelly! 8.5/10! The coffee flavor could be a little more rich but overall good coffee. I'd go back. I think the coffee jelly definitely adds some flavor too. The service was good and quick.
One of my favorite Vietnamese coffees in San Diego! It's so strong it will last me a full travel day. The Ube, Salted Caramel, and Creme Brulee lattes are delicious. There's plenty of parking and fast service. They have a full menu: coffee, teas, combo plates and banh mi's. The grilled pork banh mi was so good. We ended up dining in and finishing it before we could get back in the car! Lol Definitely my go-to before a road trip. I highly recommend it.
The amount of times I come here is my business lol, but this is one of my favorite Vietnamese coffee spots! And it's STRONG. Don't drink it past 6pm unless you want to be up until 4am on a work night... learned that the hard way! I love pretty much every drink, especially the seasonal menu. I've tried the ube, sea salt, regular, banana, and the brulee. You really can't go wrong with any of them, but my top two right now are the banana and brulee! Plenty of parking, plenty of seating, and the service is great! 1000/10
Had a pork pate chod - can I just say it was oily (a*) - like why? I've never had pate chod this oily; couldn't finish it because it was so oily. It wasn't one of the best I've had,probably fall under the worst. Also had their Vietnamese coffee - I expected them to make it but the just poured them out of a bottle - the bottles they sell at Costco. also had the grilled pork banh mi - omg. When I say the amount of mayo-butter they used, it overpowered the banh mi. It was so bad I couldn't even eat half. I've always wanted to try this place and I'm highly disappointed. I love banh mi but this... Update: it has been about 30 minutes since I've had one of the, I would say, worst meals. I can still taste the butter-mayo and the oil. I don't think I've ever written such a review.
Stopped by and tried the #11 Đặc Biệt special and the Ube Coffee. The sandwich wasn't bad, and they were generous with the meat. Flavor-wise, it's not quite as good as some of the Orange County locations (those are still unbeatable for me). Next time, I'll request some more mayo and pate in my sandwich. The Ube Coffee was pretty good -- smooth, not overly sweet, and had a nice ube flavor that paired well with the strong coffee. There were also plenty of seats inside, so it's a convenient spot to grab breakfast or lunch and actually dine in instead of rushing out. The cashier was friendly. Overall 3.5 stars -- a decent spot for a quick bite if you're craving a classic Vietnamese sandwich and coffee fix.
This location is a disappointment. If you are coming, get your food to go. It is hot and there appears to be no AC. Poor team -- they had a fan going that was doing nothing other than blowing the hot air all over everything. The food quality is subpar. The banh mi was one of the saddest I have had. Limp, such a small amount of meat and vegetables and flaky break. It seemed the bread may have been sitting out a while. Which was odd, because it seems they keep a steady stream of customers here. I would never order the patê sô again. Goodness me. They put a meatball inside -- so very strange! -- and the pastry is somehow greasy. Also, the music is entirely to loud. And for no apparent reason. All in all, it was a sad experience overall. Afterward, I went two doors down for a tea and AC to cool down and vowed never to return.
What caught my eye was their ube coffee. One sip and I was hooked. The ube foam isn't too sweet and Viet was good and strong. I got it twice in the last week. Their baguettes are fresh out of the oven. You can always asked for a hot one. The chicken and grilled pork banh mis are good. The tuna sandwich is ok. You only get one spread. The egg, bacon, and cheese baguette and croissant are pretty good.
Yes to the biscoff coffee!! Can't believe I've just now tried this place. If you love Vietnamese coffee i would highly recommend. The coffee is a little on the sweeter side but also strong , it's addicting! The biscoff adds a different but equally as good flavor. Will be back to try other flavors and sandwiches! Cashiers were all nice and can even let you know what you might like. Place was clean and my drink was out as soon as I was done paying. read more

I come here 3-4 days out of the week. Ive given them my business for the longest & ofc spent plenty of my money here which I was always happy to do so. But today I came and tried to order a small cup of ice with my order and they wanted to charge me for a plastic cup ??? When I already payed for 2 drinks and your illegal " $1 processing fee " ? I can overlook a lot of things which I had before like their mediocre customer service & the off putting attitudes from the younger girls they hire but this ? Yeah, no thanks. I also work at a restaurant and as a person that's been a part of this industry for plenty of years , I'm able to understand most situations along with rising costs. But this just felt super cheap and tacky to me. read more
I wasn't expecting anything crazy, just a solid banh mi, and that's exactly what I got. Continuing down University Ave, I stopped by Lee's Sandwiches. It's in a big plaza so parking is never really an issue. It's a chain banh mi spot, but one thing I will say is they stay open later than most local banh mi places, so if you're coming home late and craving one, this is probably where you're going. The left side is a drink cooler with various drinks and grab and go desserts. There are menus on multiple screens, ads everywhere, and it's just very busy on the eyes. Then on the right side you have the drink station and seating. If I'm being honest, I would not sit inside unless I had to. There is a shared patio outside in the plaza though and if the weather is nice, I would 100% take my food out there instead. Most of the tables inside were kind of dirty with crumbs and the trash was full, so it just made the space feel a little unkept. I waited in line and the cashier was very sweet. I ordered a strawberry tea and asked if I could adjust the sweetness, but since the sweetness comes from the syrup it would also change the flavor, so I just kept it as is. I also got the #11 special combination banh mi and asked for extra cilantro because if you know, you know. They take your order, you sit, and they call it out. I waited maybe 10 minutes, drink came out first, sandwich right after. The strawberry tea surprised me. I really thought it was going to be super sweet but it was more like a 6 out of 10 on sugar. Once the ice melted a bit it got even better. It tasted fresh, fruity, not artificial, and there were actual strawberry pieces in there. I really liked it and would get it again. Now the sandwich. It was solid. Not mind blowing, not the best I've had, but it did exactly what I wanted it to do. The bread was fresh with a nice crunch but not too hard. There was a good amount of mayo and pate, the meats were flavorful, and everything just worked. The pickled carrots and daikon could've had more crunch, they were a little soft, but the flavor was there and helped balance everything out. They do add soy sauce and you can definitely taste it. I'm not the biggest fan of that so I'd probably ask for no soy sauce next time, but that's just me. Also when I ask for extra cilantro... I mean EXTRA, because I felt like what I got was just a normal amount. Overall, really solid. Good sandwich, really good tea, and a spot I can see myself coming back to especially since they're open later than most places. It might not be the best banh mi in the area, but it gets the job done when you need it. read more

Lees coffees with the cold foam are great and they have a new banana one that was great I got the bic bahn mi with pate and pork lunch meat very good the jalapenos had a good spice this was just an average bahn mi a clutch bahn mi it will get you by so the coffee and the bahn mis good combo. read more

This place caught my eye on the way home and I was craving a sandwich so I stopped to try it. Super hidden but when walking up it's very well kept on the outside and inviting. When you walk in there's some snacks and drinks that are made in house. The place is pretty big inside so you can definitely sit and enjoy your meal. I ordered a turkey sandwich with baguette bread. I don't like mustard so I asked for no mustard and this prompted the woman taking my order to ready my order back to me which I really appreciate. I also ordered their Ube Coffee because it really caught my eye. The turkey Sandwich was delicious! At first I was worried that the baguette was too hard but as I started eating it, the bread was perfectly baked. The cheese and turkey were good and the lettuce and tomatoes were fresh and it all just made for a delicious sandwich. The Ube coffee was delicious.. it's Vietnamese coffee which I love! But this was probably the best Vietnamese coffee I have ever had.. and I have had a lot of Vietnamese coffee in San Diego. This is the best! Not too sweet not too bitter. Just perfect! I was really disappointed with how little coffee I received. I asked the cashier for a coffee with light ice, and she told me it would not be filled to the top of the cup, which I said was fine. However, when I got my drink, only about a quarter of the cup was actually coffee, another quarter was foam, and the remaining half of the cup was completely empty. The coffee itself tasted really good, but I am very upset about what I paid versus what I got. I was charged about 7.50 dollars total--6.50 for the drink, plus an extra dollar just because I used a debit card. For that price, getting essentially half a cup of nothing is unacceptable. They easily could have taken out some foam and at least filled half the cup with coffee, especially after I specifically asked for light ice. Overall, I feel overcharged and shorted on my drink, and I won't be ordering it this way again. read more

The sandwich has definitely changed since the grand opening. Bread soft and moist, buttery mayo on point and meat was tasty. Service was really good today i had an odd order of pate on only half with extra butter and the friendly girl in front was very accommodating. 5 stars today. Shop was clean and nice, line was very efficient. read more
came here to try the new coffee flavors! the banana one was in good but tasted a little artificial my bf said it tasted like banana laffy taffy which was spot on lol. after mixing it up it was better. overall i love lees coffee in general i like how strong it is so next time ill try the biscoff also wanna try the ube. we also got pate chau which was really good my bf is vietnamese so he says they do it really well too and he gets homemade pate chau from his grandma. i got a pork bbq sandwich and he got the #11. this place always has consistent bahn mi the jalapeño is really spicy in my opinion so be careful i had to take it out. we were in and out really quick no line on saturday around 10am. and the food came out fast too. will always come back for the food and happy they have some new coffee flavors. read more

Came here on a Sunday afternoon. Ordered several sandwiches. Service was straightforward, we ordered at the counter and waited about 10-15 mins for 6 sandwiches. I ordered pork meatball Bahn mi. The meatballs were a bit mushy, was not expecting tomato sauce, and overall made the sandwich soggy. Husband got an American turkey blt which I didn't try, but it looked tasty. We also got bbq pork and grilled chicken Bahn mi. Overall the not best Bahn mi's we've tried. The kids do like the baguette though. And my kid did like th strawberry drink. The inside is somewhat chaotic. Boxes and supplies stacked high against the wall in the dining area. Items/cups with other brands/logos in view. read more

The staff is friendly, and service is pretty quick. The sandwiches and drinks are consistently good too! I like getting their Vietnamese coffee concentrate and splitting it throughout the week (you have to dilute the concentrate since it's super strong straight out of the bottle). read more
I was in SoCal this weekend so of course I'm going to stop by to grab my favorite coffee. The coffee is always so creamy and sweet. I ordered the original coffee in a large size it cost $7.49. When I walked in the store it was nice and clean. Right away I was greeted by the cashier. Highly recommend to any coffee drinkers. read more

Amazing delicious drinks and delicious food we tried the bbq pork Asian sandwich and it was so so good their bread is made fresh in house and you can taste it, I love it was super quick to get food and drinks. read more
The menu at Lee's is pretty extensive but luckily everything we ordered was quite yummy. Despite the high ceilings and open atmosphere, I found the establishment to be inviting and homey, as the large space was filled with an array of snacks and candies. Service was quick and all of our food tasted very fresh. The sandwiches did not have the egg-shell outer layer I expected but were nonetheless flavorful and uniquely oniony. My favorite of all was the cha gio which I devoured before I could take a picture. Both iced coffees were amazing. The ube Vietnamese coffee was beautiful in color and taste. The sea salt Vietnamese coffee was unexpectedly also very tasty. I'm grateful Lee's is available in stores and that I can even get the coffee concentrate from Costco! The sandwiches themselves are not my personal favorite banh mis but are indeed delicious in their own right. read more
I'm rating this spot based on the coffee. Lee's used to be my go-to spot in college for Vietnamese coffee. I haven't my favorite spot in SD but Lee's still has good coffee! Today I tried their crème brûlée cream topping and I thought it was great. Service was fast. Prices were affordable. read more
