And I appreciate that they are open for business from 5AM to 2AM, so that I can shop when it is convenient for me.

Jake and Becky are knowledgeable tour guides and fun even for those of us who visit the Market regularly. Continue on a short walk up to Jason Wilson's Miller's Guild restaurant. Prepare to be amazed as you sit at the chef's counter in front of a blazing wood fired grill where Jason keeps up a fun and enlightening banter as he cooks up a multi course meal for you. Several appetizer courses are served up at the counter and then everyone moves to the dining room for the main courses and dessert. My husband and I were on the first of these events (unbeknownst to us when we signed up) and it went off flawlessly. This is an intimate event so we got to know our fellow diners which was fun too. The menu will vary for each event so don't know what you will have, but we enjoyed salmon tartar, oysters on the half shell, mushroom goat cheese bruschetta, roasted mussels with Merguez sausage, grilled salmon, pork roast and a delicious pear/apple dessert. My descriptions don't really do the menu justice because, after all, the guy cooking up this dinner is a James Beard and Food & Wine award winner. The "stump the chef" bit was fun where we selected an item at the Market for Jason to prepare that would be a surprise for him -- just to see what he would do with it. We chose goose eggs with the stipulation "you can't just scramble them". Jason sawed those raw eggs in half, stirred up a delicious truffle flan with the innards, and then baked it back in the egg shells. Creative and fun! This event (I can't just call it a tour and meal...) is a good value since you get the market tour (fun even for lifelong Seattleites), a cocktail before the meal and a couple of glasses of paired wine with the meal as well as a couple of really fun hours with Jason and his staff. Well you know bags with no handles aside they have the best deals on dayold and 2-day-old pastries…read morein town such as pecan rolls a good 2 lbs worth for $2, four big cinnamon rolls for $2.25, and I got a full lemon ring pound cake for $2.50 it is worth the short drive to save between 30 and 45% on my bill over Safeway and even sometimes QFC even they both have the Kroger brands I prefer Fred Meyer here in burien. I'm going to work on sending another email to Mike Johnson head of Kroger and the lady who was in charge of Fred Meyer I can't remember her name to see if we can still get bags with handles on them. Safeway has plastic bags and they have handles and that way you can carry six bags at once instead of just one or two.

The shoes, white short sleeve button up shirt with a blue tie and navy blue or black slacks to match! I was a courtesy clerk at 16 when there was etiquette, training and most definitely strict representation of the store's brand! No matter who you asked from the bagger to the manager, if they worked there, they knew where literally everything was located and if something was out of stock! Nowadays I get a lot of confused looks or "I don't know" and they walk off without attempting to assist! Nowadays you're lucky if you can find 1 committed, hard-working courtesy clerk at any store! To...I digress, let's get it! I initially ordered their 4 piece for $5 and a 1/2 lb of JoJo's. The 1st associate was very welcoming, sincere and thoughtful when picking out the 4 pieces. She'd just saved me a coupon and a trip to kfc for a $5 2 piece meal! As I was leaving there was a man at the door asking for change for food, I searched my pockets and found nothing so I said that I had nothing, he thanked me anyway. I went to my truck to see if I had any change there, I didn't so I went and gave the man my 4 piece and JoJo's and went back inside and ordered another for myself...this was the other associate. I ordered the same thing and she gathered it but not taking time to check the food for what's freshest and what's not like the previous associate had done. I came home and immediately regretted not saying anything; over 1/2 the jojo's were hard and stale! The pieces of chicken she choose weren't any better! Some weren't even hot, but they're all sitting in the warmer together so how is that?! It's the end of the day, I get it. It's a busy mother's Day, I get it. Customer satisfaction is your job...Get it?! Do Better!! To the initial associate: Thank you for your dedicated service! The man in need got some well selected fresh chicken for dinner and I'm grateful for that!

Went to this store again to use my new Membership and get $5.00 my first purchase. I bought a few…read morethings, consumables mostly, like crackers, chips, candy, etc. and then I saw these Matlaw's Stuffed Clams. The looked really good, and at $5.00 for four it felt like good deal, plus it had weight, which is good. What is not good is the flavor. Blech. Although I have been a chef for over 40 years, I can be honest in my judging. These stuffed clams had all stuffing, like a poorly made crab cake mix. It was loaded with panko but no evidence of clams. Way too much salt. Horrible. No wonder they were so cheap. Funny thing is, I left them outside my place where the Seagulls tore them up. Matlaws is therefore bird food IMHO. Never again. I could have taken them back, but it was only $5.00. Not worth my time. Additionally, Safeway has removed the review feature, so there was no way to share my honest experience on their website. Many other customers expressed the same frustration on Reddit, where they put their food reviews by proxy. Amazon, Fred Meyer and others have a review feature, because future customers depend on those to see whether or not a product is worth buying. Safeway, bring your review feature back, because I will not be back to your store.

Just a quick stop here during the evening on Friday night around 8pm. There was a healthy amount of…read morepeople here. Perhaps around 20 people. Most of them were using baskets and not carts. I needed about 15 items. A few organic vegetables, some wine, dessert, chips, and deli items. For the most part, they all seemed to be in pretty decent shape. Nothing really was spoiled or overly ripped. Even the bananas were green turning yellow. Usually when you pick potatoes or onions, flies or gnats emerges but not this time. Although the deli section was pretty much depleted, they did have a few items still available for the late night munchers. The meats section was pretty sad. They didn't much left. Most notably this night the ground turkeys and the steaks were out of stock. If you're looking to purchase alcohol, buy all your other items first and leave that for last. You'll have to purchase your alcohol in that section. It's only accessible from the front of the store and the alcohol section is located in the middle of the store. Good size parking lot but not huge. I pass by it all the time and never seems terribly busy. Solid location. Nice staff. Good lighting inside. Not so much in the parking lot.
