Leftie Lees is one of my favorite bakeries inside the Perimeter for baked goods with an Asian influence. Thanks to the brilliant chef Viv Lee, she has introduced me (and my mom) to our favorite pastry, the almond & strawberry galette (PLEASE bring that back one day!) I love love love the pastries, such as the seasonal cream cheese danish, black sesame blondie and the purple sweet potato roll. But every now and then, a savory pastry catches my eye, like the confit tomato & pesto bun. They also have a brunch/lunch menu with fun items like the braised beef sandwich or the egg melt. Overall disappointed by the food at Leftie Lees. I had been once before and gotten the burrito which had been very good. This time the food wasn't as good and we left disappointed. The KFC sandwich was pretty terrible which is surprising given all the good reviews. The gochujang was WAY too sweet, it felt like we were eating candy on a sandwich. The chicken was so fatty that most of it was inedible. The burrito was fine this time but barely had any peppers or onions. The potatoes were crispy but it was mostly just crispy skin and no actual potatoes. Maybe it was a one off day but based on the food, it's hard to say if we'll go back. read more

My husband, son, and I came on Saturday before 9 am and were able to order quickly. My husband ordered the chicken salad sandwich as he is not an egg person. 8 ordered the egg sandwich which comes with fried potatoes, and son got Korean bbq beef sandwich which also came with fried potatoes. I also brought home a Korean salt bread and strawberry danish for my daughter. The sandwich comes on a light, fluffy roll which is likely made in house. I enjoyed the egg sandwich which comes with cheese and one can add bacon or avocado. They also have different flavored cold brews which my husband ordered a s'mores flavored one. Seating is communal but there was no one at our table at 9 am! We also got parking right in front of the building so it pays to wake up early! Located in the Olive and Pine building in Avondale, Leftie's Lees is a bakery that also offers some menu items. There's lots of seating in the building, mostly communal. The service was friendly and they're very knowledgable about the menu if you have questions. I also had an olive oil muffin that I inhaled. I didn't have space to try much, but many people had commented that they enjoyed the cinnamon roll, and it was the most enticing item that I saw, so I decided to try it. I was left a bit disappointed, as I didn't feel like there was anything special about this roll. I felt that roll itself lacks cinnamon/butter flavor, and while the icing is good, there's not enough for someone like me who wants the roll slathered in icing. Cute presentation though. I also wasn't sure if the pastry selection was limited because I was too late (I came in at 10am on a thursday), or if they just don't have many offerings, but I was also a bit underwhelmed by the amount of options. I came here to pick up an order from TooGoodToGo and was so happy I chose this spot. The staff were so helpful and informative. I didn't know this food hall was here and the employee I was speaking with gave me a rundown of everything in the building. They showed me where everything was located and graciously gave me my order. I asked about the Rice Krispie treats and they explained they are made in-house and were tasty. I bought one and was happy. That was one of the best Rice Krispie treats I have ever had. The restaurant was eclectic and a true fit for the neighborhood. I will be back to try more goodies. I've been coming here nearly every Saturday or Sunday for the past year since my kiddo goes to the Little Gym class in the same plaza. It's a fun and busy bakery that also offers breakfast/brunch and sandwiches. Just about all the bakery items we've had here have been good - from the cookies to croissants and various baked goods. My 3 year old's favorites are the chocolate chip cookie and the hot dog bun. We don't usually order the hot menu items but they have offerings like avocado toast to breakfast sandwiches. The menu does change often but one of my favorite items they had was their take on a guava pastry (blame my South Floridian roots). Selfishly hoping they bring it back into rotation. Also, selection on some items can be limited since they may sell out, which has happened a few times, so best to get here earlier for the most variety. Service is always quick, and since the dining space is communal there's usually a spot at the tables or booths to enjoy one's meal. read more

I had heard great things about this place so I was eager to try it out but quicky disappointed upon arrival. As no one came to greet me immediately, I had about 3-4 minutes to observe workers and what I saw made me walk off. One person playing in their hair near the fresh bread that just came out the oven, another texting with gloves on while rolling dough and another just chilling in the back as my friend and I waited to be greeted/served. I wasn't very hungry so I thought i get a small bite.... it was gross!!! It was so cold I couldn't believe it. I got a little pizza pie and it was 95% dough.... cold dough. Located in the Olive and Pine mixed use market. This place was suggested to me by the coffee shop next door. I approached the counter and reviewed the menu. With their set up you can look right into the open kitchen and see everything is made fresh. The display case had many sweet and savory options for sale. I thought one was a bagel with bacon and cheese, but it was actually a savory danish with cheese and onions. I ended up ordering the Leftie's Egg sandwich. The sandwich comes with eggs, cheese, kimchi mayo, and I added bacon. The friendly young lady at the counter definitely co-signed that the sandwich was a good choice. She rang me up and I thought it was kind of expensive, $20 for a breakfast sandwich. I waited for a few minutes and they called my name. The food was ready super quick. I picked it up at the counter and headed over to one of the open tables in the common space. I opened up my container and was surprised to see roast potatoes in addition to my sandwich. Initially I thought the sandwich would be too much for one sitting, but it turned out to be just right. It was delicious and the roasted potatoes were hot, fresh and crunchy. I chatted with another customer who informed me she always stops here when she is in town. She ordered the chicken breakfast sandwich with a runny egg on top and was raving about it. I tried this food stall in the Avondale Food Hall Sunday morning. my dish was not very good. The cheddar kimchi biscuit was hard as a rock and it was like dust. The Korean fried chicken thigh crust was hard as could be. It was a challenge trying to cut it with a plastic knife and fork. not sure when the chicken thigh was cooked but it was not within the last hour of my order. The gravy was passable. My first experience with leftie lees was when a family member brought dessert for my baby shower - and it was a HIT! we had their black sesame brownies & everyone loved them. We knew we had to check out more of their baked goods! While I still haven't physically been to this location, a friend was able to scoop up the hot dog bun and the olive oil muffin for us to try. I was hoping they would have their salt bread because it's one of my favorites from when I was in Korea but it seems it's a weekend item (will have to just come then lol). The olive oil muffin was definitely my fave of the two, so moist and delicious. There's a sprinkle of sugar on top that adds a nice sweet crunch to the texture. What is the best breakfast as I've had in a long time! It also serves lunch. The menu is very diverse! So be prepared for something different! I do not like the fact that you have to scan the menu and order everything online but as he explained during weekends is very busy, and that's the fastest way to get the orders out and Food paid for. We ordered the breakfast combination with bacon, sausage, roast beef, potatoes and two eggs over easy and grits and toast. Also ordered the combination omelette with potatoes and plantains. This is a real hidden gem, but a great place to grab a sweet or savory treat to eat as you explore the Avondale Estates area. My favorite item is the loaded potato pastry. If you ever ate a knish in your life, this is super close to it. It is so yummy with full of flavor. I also had a chai scone. WOAH- this one blew me away. It warmed me up as I ate it. They used to have a great weekday lunch (including the best porcetta sandwich ever,) but they recently cut the weekday menu down to almost nothing. Most of the lunch items are now grab & go, and they no longer offer the crispy potatoes that often drew me here :( I don't anticipate coming back on weekdays anymore, and I sincerely hope the weekend brunch menu doesn't get the same treatment or I'll lose one of my favorite breakfast spots. The buns were savory and delicious with just the tiniest hint of sweetness. I was excited to see Leftie there when I stopped by but they were all busy getting ready for the Asian bake sale event the next day. The staff at the counter were courteous and helpful. I was disappointed that they didn't have the kimchi buttermilk biscuit that day, but I was told that they would be serving it daily in the coming weeks. What a wonderful experience when my husband and I went to Leftie Lees for brunch. It's located in the Olive and Pine building in Avondale Estates. Parking is kind of tricky since there are only a few parking spots but street parking is available where we were lucky to snag a spot. The Olive and Pine building only holds a few businesses but Leftie Lees will easily become one of my favorites here. You are greeted by the readily available pastries as you enter their food stall. The pastries are grab your own and they had quite a variety of them. On top of this, they offer a brunch menu to order at the counter. Your name will be called when your food is ready for pick up. We ordered the egg melt and Leftie's plate with sausage link. I ordered the plate and it was served with the most perfect crispy potatoes and the sausage link was smoky and juicy. The plate when I first got it didn't look like much, but I was stuffed by the end of my meal. There was nothing we didn't like from this trip - even the pastries were yummy! I forgot the name of the pastry I liked the best, but it was like a shortbread cookie with caramelized pecans on top. After much anticipation, finally got to try Leftie Lees. It's located in Avondale Estates at a market called Olive and Pine. We went for breakfast once they opened up. They have lots of different pastries set out and then have breakfast options on their menu. We got a hot dog roll, confit tomato and pesto bun, and a avocado toast. The bun definitely won out of all three. It was super delicious! Plain, but the hot dog roll was good too, I think a different meat or maybe some cheese would give it a little extra bang. Maybe I've been spoiled with many amazing avocado bagels/ toast but I think the avocado toast could have a lot more potential. The bread was good but I wouldn't it order again at the price it's at. Definitely needed more pickled onions, maybe an aioli or something on top too? Overall, definitely happy they are open now and doing a great job. There are some pastries that are sitting in front of the order stall that are self service. The flavors seem to lean towards Japanese- influenced flavors such as an ube (sweet potato) donut or something with bean curd. I like sweet and a lot of Asian sweets aren't as sweet or have a subtle sweetness, so not exactly my jam. It was nice to experience. Leftie's is a small bakery located in the new Olive & Pine building in the Avondale Estates neighborhood. I'm very happy that this development has come to the neighborhood and looking forward to more restaurants coming to the building. First impression of Leftie - it's just ok. Good enough that I'd be willing to try it again but I hope to see some changes. The main thing I did not like was the display of pasties is completely uncovered. I'm the kind of person that does not like people talking over my food...between hot breath of strangers & COVID, this was a turn off for me. Luckily the items I chose where on the second shelf, everything is self-serve. The cashier was helpful with describing the offerings I had questions about. I had the sweet potato cinnamon roll, which was recommended by other Yelpers & peach French toast. The cinnamon roll lacked flavor which was disappointing...if I'm gonna take all the carbs at least pack it with flavor! The peach French toast was good after I got home to warm it up. I really hope they start putting covers on the pastries. If you want coffee there is a coffee shop right next door. I went here on 1/21/2024 for the first time. I parked by the red brick building to the left. I thought that the building faced that side of the street. I went to a side door of a gym and a front door. The restaurant is right at the corner on the right before you park. I went inside and saw a large selection of pastries. I got a chocolate rice krispy treat with marshmallows and a beef sandwich. I think it was kimchi in a small cup. I'm not a fan of that nothing personal. Visited this establishment for a quick pick-me-up drink. I was served a delicious drink from Tay and his energy was great, thanks again Tay!

I first discovered Leftie Lees on the pop-up circuit and this was my first visit to her shop. I had to get the pain au chocolate since they were fresh out of the oven. I ate it unashamedly in store getting the dusted chocolate all over my face. Was worth it because nothing beats a fresh croissant. Not pictured were the takeaway treats I got - the olive oil muffin, the ube cinnamon roll and sesame red bean roll. All were delicious and fresh. I'd highly recommend grabbing a treat (or 2) from Leftie Lees and then a drink from next door for a relaxing break in your day. read more

Update to their pastry display: they now have a display screen to protect all of their goodies! Ube sweet potato bread 5/5: fluffy bread with a light korean sweet potato filling. Topped with a ube frosting. Not too sweet and perfectly fluffy. Black sesame blondie 5/5: really great black sesame flavor and perfectly chewy blondie. My personal favorite. Korean fried chicken with biscuit 3/5: love the fry on the fried chicken--It was unique, light, and crispy. The chicken was also juicy and very tasty! The biscuit however wasn't my favorite. I loved the taste but the texture was a bit dry and hard. The gravy on top of the chicken was interesting paired with the flavor of the chicken sauce.
