Last year we had a horrific experience with another lender in trying to get approved for a home. It…read morewasn't that we were not qualified, it's that the lender was chaotic and disorganized. It was so bad, I really didn't want to try again to purchase a home. Then we heard about Gateway Mortgage. I was skeptical, but we still did want to set up permanent roots in our new city, so we decided it couldn't hurt to try them. What a difference. All I can say is wow. We worked with Bory Cain and Chris Webb. The process was so simple and smooth. They obviously know what they are doing, and it showed throughout the loan process. They were very involved in effectively communicating what they needed from us, and they kept us informed of our progress throughout the loan process. We never wondered what was going on, and if we had any questions, I could depend on a response from Bory within 15 minutes! Wow again! We felt completely at ease from beginning to finish, and we closed right on time with no issues. Thank you to Bory and Chris for making the buying of our home a pleasure instead of a chore. I will be recommending them to anyone I know looking to buy a home, and when the time comes that we are ready to refinance our home, they will be the only call I make, no doubt.

Extremely upset with this bank! Back in April I had made a number of calls to Banks to help me…read morewith a 2nd PPP loan because of the Covid pandemic. My previous bank (Bank of America) was not trying to help me and made an incorrect rejection. They wouldn't allow me to speak with anyone and withdrew my request and told me to find another lender. I had a 1st PPP loan through them and the loan forgiveness had been pending since February. The only two Banks that said they could help me were Texas Trust and The Bank & Trust. I met with an April Ward and we went over the application and details. I was in a rush because we were about a week away from the deadline. Even though I applied through BOA earlier in the year, they didn't reject me till a week before the deadline. April, informed me there was a good chance there would be a May extension, but that all my paperwork would be ready. There was an extension through the SBA, but I was informed to contact Bank of America to make sure the application was withdrawn from the SBA to prevent any complications. I did so and I was hoping we were ready to roll. I was then notified by April that they could not send my application in until I received Loan forgiveness on my previous loan. The SBA did not require loan forgiveness to apply for a secondary loan. Bank of America went past their required deadline before they approved my loan forgiveness. I was informed by April that their President or VP said they needed the loan forgiveness before they could help. Even though the previous loan wasn't through their bank, and I would have been responsible for paying for it regardless. They could have easily made an intellectual decision based on all the information I provided and what my CPA provided. Funds ran early while I was waiting for the loan forgiveness which wasn't required by the SBA. I couldn't even go to another lender for help during this time because nobody was taking anymore applications. This put me in a bind and I completely missed out on the 2nd PPP because of their unwillingness to submit the application to the SBA They originally lied to me saying the SBA required me to have loan forgiveness. I had contacted a few attorneys and discussed the issue. They told me that the SBA didn't require the loan forgiveness and that the bank representative was lying. I promptly made a call to Mrs. Ward. She then informed me that it was the VP or Presidents decison not to submitted it because of their risk. The program is over and I missed out on 40k + To help my business and employees because of this Covid pandemic! I will never do bussiness with this bank and I'm hoping others don't either.
