It's a little bit out-of-the-way on an elevated hill, but that gives it superb views and is nothing that a short cab ride can't fix. From the entrance into the hotel you can tell it's gorgeous. The lobby is opulent with high ceilings and a circular staircase with an elaborate cupola. Ipec who works at reception is fantastic and so efficient and nice. I have Hilton gold honors status and at this hotel that includes an incredible full buffet breakfast in the morning. Shout out to Selin who was so helpful and charming at breakfast reception, Gamte, and terrific servers Güllü, Fartif and Cihan who made me the best iced latte. You can pick your room in advance online on the Hilton app during check in and I picked the highest floor, which is the 14th floor. Flawless AC which is very much appreciated in the hot summer months. Rooms have huge picture windows (and the smaller windows open!) with incredible skyline views of Istanbul. The standard rooms are a bit on the small side, but absolutely gorgeous with lovely ceramic details and beautiful glass ottoman style lamp fixtures. Beds are large and super comfortable. The best part are the super bathrooms that have this incredible large shower with a seating area and three different faucets. One is like a fountain and will actually shower down your back! The toiletries are also excellent and everything is a very high standard. The pool is beautiful with a Jacuzzi and has full service and a bar. There are also tennis courts. There's also a really lovely Turkish restaurant and an Italian restaurant. It's really more like a city resort than just a hotel. The only problem with this hotel is you might not leave very often to go to town because it's so comfortable and relaxing. I honestly feel like I've been at a spa because of the beautiful gym, spa amd hammam at the hotel. They have a full-size hairdressing salon as well. One thing I really enjoyed about this hotel is that the clientele is extremely international so you really do feel like you're traveling in exotic Istanbul; it's not just full of people from a cruise or tour groups. It's a very interesting and eclectic mix of guests. I really enjoyed my stay here.

We were traveling with a family of four and a family of three, and had reserved appropriately sized rooms. Instead, we were given tiny, cramped rooms that barely fit two people. Yet the hotel still charged us extra for the additional guests--with zero regard for the fact that the rooms were completely inadequate. Even worse, the rooms--and the hallways--were filled with a strong, nauseating smell of cigarette smoke. The rooms were supposedly non-smoking, but it was clear that nothing had been done to enforce or maintain that standard. If we had stayed longer, our young daughter would have gotten sick from the constant exposure to the smoke. It was that bad. The management was nowhere to be found, and the staff showed absolutely no concern or effort to fix anything. Every complaint was met with cold indifference. Not only were we forced to leave the hotel due to the conditions, but we are still fighting with the hotel to receive a refund for the remaining nights they failed to deliver on. This hotel is a disgrace to the Marriott name. It is run with no care for the guest experience, no attention to cleanliness or comfort, and absolutely no accountability. If you care about your health, your comfort, and your money--avoid this hotel at all costs. There are far better options in Istanbul. This was the worst hotel experience we've ever had.

This wasn't just bad service--it was inhumane. If that wasn't enough, the hotel was blasting loud music for two night. Four nights of torture. We couldn't sleep, and we complained again and again to different managers. And just like with everything else, they did absolutely nothing. They gave empty promises, fake apologies, and then disappeared. No solutions. No respect. No decency. The management is a disgrace--unprofessional, disconnected, and clearly not trained to handle basic guest needs, let alone a serious health emergency. We felt completely abandoned. This place is not safe. They are charging premium prices while offering some of the worst hospitality I've ever seen. This hotel should not just be avoided--it should be reported to the city of Istanbul and health authorities. They are putting people's health at risk. Their food made my wife sick, their environment made our stay unbearable, and their complete lack of accountability made everything worse. We will be contacting Ritz-Carlton corporate and local safety regulators in Istanbul. This is not just about a bad stay--this is about guest safety, human decency, and basic responsibility. The massage finished in one of the massage rooms, and we left very relaxed. The restaurant was okay for breakfast as it was included in the room rate for us, but the dinner was not good at all. In fact I would say of the whole trip, everywhere we ate, the dinner we had here was probably the worst. I'm giving it 4 stars because we would certainly stay here again although we would eat our lunches and dinners at many of the restaurants that are a walk up the hill behind the hotel.

It is in easy walking distance of everything in Sultanament and there is even a tram station close by. In addition its prices were in line with just about everything else in the area. It's a fairly walkable area, but it's at the very top of a few hills, so just make sure you're prepared to walk. Once inside the beauty of it and service is just top tier. The rooftop restaurant Spago is amazing, along with the service. The Brassiere downstairs is also great. The rooms are very largely sized, but a few downsides... The shower head is a rainfall head, but the shower itself is so small you're stuck under it and sort of constricted in your movement. It's hard to wash yourself like that, and the bathroom and closet are so big, as is the room that they could've made the shower a bit bigger for sure. The TV in the bathroom also was basically useless, it did not work at all. There's also a few details here and there overlooked (dings, scratches, wood not finished to 100%) but nothing enough for me to really complain about to the hotel directly. I would stay here again if I go back to Istanbul at any point in time, but I would probably break my trip up where half of it is here and the other half at the Four Seasons Bosphorus, not the Sultanahmet one.
