50 miles north west of Amarillo I had a rear tire go flat. The sidewall had a large slit and therefore not repairable. This happened Saturday late afternoon. While waiting for tow truck I googled motorcycle repair shops Amarillo. 3 shops came up and I called the one closest to my hotel, Legends Custom Shop. Nobody answered. This was about 5PM and I'm thinking folks are gone until Tuesday since most bike shops are closed Sun/Mon. The owner of Legends called me right back. He said he would help me. Got bike to hotel about 7pm and needed a 19mm deep socket and breaker bar to remove the lug nuts. Legends owner said he would help me, even Sunday morning! I called him 7am and explained I needed tools to get the wheel off and transportation to get the wheel to his shop. The owner drove to my hotel, with tools, took my wheel to his shop, repaired it, and brought it back to my hotel! I installed wheel using his tools and was ready to ride home by 10am! I thought I would be stuck in Amarillo until Tuesday when bike shops reopened for business but the kindness and willingness of the Legends owner got me home Sunday. I tried to give the owner cash or credit card but he refused payment and simply said, just let me know you made it home safe. I was so tired Sunday when I got home to central Texas that I forgot to text him. He texted me early the next morning and asked if I made it home. Folks, I don't know this owner but can tell you that his willingness to help me, and his sacrifice of time and effort to help me on a Sunday morning speaks volumes of a business ethic that is rare in our society today. For privacy reasons I haven't mentioned his name. If I ever get to Amarillo again, I want to see his shop and thank him again. What a great guy.....a Legend of a man. read more
