Came here to stay at a Airbnb and the experience was weird. All these places are so cookie cut. Everyone that's local to the neighborhood is weird as hell. They stare at you like you don't belong. These rules are too uptight for 2 and half star. Girl friend and I tried going for a walk around the neighborhood and she got stared at like these people never seen a girl before. Safe to say I'm not coming back. Weirdos. They said they didn't do fireworks and the neighborhood didn't allow it but sure enough all you hear is booming fireworks right above the crib. I've stayed at plenty resorts and golfing communities and this one was most definitely the worst. Get right legends. read more

Three great courses on the property with a nice clubhouse and good food and drinks. The staff was amazing.

The courses were fabulous as were the practice facilities. That said, the attendees taking bags, loading us up and helping with other needs were absolutely awful!! Chuck was rude, arrogant and abrasive. 45 min delay on our tee-time and told to simply enjoy the day. Then we get hammered three times on the course and told to hurry up!!. Foursome was on the green (Par 3) in front of us and ranger asked us what we are waiting for. We should be ready to hit as they walk off?? You kidding me. Bartenders were in no rush; food was less than average. Whoever runs operations at this facility needs to be fired. Fix the attitude issues, stop overbooking and get some help in the bar. This is a destination experience for most, we shouldnt have to feel unwelcomed. Luckily the golf was great. read more

Played a round of golf today at Heathland. Paid for an 18 hole game, but left after the 7th. It took 3 hours to play the 7, and never saw a single marshal to help move things along. Way too many players on the course. Very frustrating & unenjoyable.​ I understand it's peak golf season, but there is a such thing as quality of play. A vigilant marshal here and there could really improve the course experience, especially during those busy times. Would not recommend at this time, unless you don't mind a 6 hour round. I was hopeful in my review of Legends a year ago, i was encouraged by what seemed like a change in customer service but it was only fleeting and it went back to its old ways unfortunately. So they fired the aggressive and arrogant head pro a couple years ago to everyone's delight and replaced him with his assistant pro who acts and deals with customers and members in the same condescending way? Employee at golf course we're so nasty,from bag drop off area pro shop and check in desk. Food and rooms were ok, but was told at time of booking we would have an outside screened in sitting area , that was not true we had no sitting area at all. played all three on-site courses rounds took an avg of 5 hours . played Moreland on the last day they had the worst greens we played in the last 15 years, the were really not playable so bumpy and slow we will never return to that course. The other two courses greens were covered with sand . I was told at booking time that the greens would be aerated well before are arrival day and the greens would be fine, also not true. Next years trip will be back to Litchfield. read more

Our group was there during Hurricane Ian. It was still a 4 star experience. We played Heathland, Parkland & Mooreland, all excellent golf courses! When you play as a group they include daily range balls, 18 holes of golf, full breakfast buffet, and a meal voucher for the turn that includes two beverages. The golf is really exceptional, The Moorland is a Pete Dye design. What was a amazing is that even after all the rain from the Hurricane on Friday, we were still able to play on Saturday though it was cart path only which is understandable but by Sunday, it was 90 degree. The Staff is really great and well organized and very helpful getting your bags out of your vehicle and on to the correct cart. The range is large and well organized but you will be hitting off mats. With the golf package, you simply enter your room number and 'boom'! read more

If you like 6 hour rounds of golf in the afternoon and 5 hour and 15 minute rounds in the morning then the legends is for you. We've come here for the last 7-8 years but this is it. Currently into our second round of the day and through 5 holes we have completed 5 holes. Sitting on the 6th with a group on the green, one on the fairway and one waiting behind us. The houses are great and the grill is good too with excellent staff but they don't send Marshall's out to keep people moving, the cart area is pure chaos. You'll never get your Pm round started in time. Today they were short on carts... Ownership/management here doesn't give a shit about the golfers they just want your money and then you're on your own. Looking for options going forward. read more

First time playing legends in about 20 years. Played moorland today- overall course layout was nice, however a 5-1/2 hour round is terrible. Saw players assistant on course - not at all pushing the golfers - more about hawking balls in the woods and rough for their own needs. We waited about 15 Minutes on each hole after the front 9. My opinion is they have too many groups on the course, players assistants not doing what they should be doing. Tourism is a wonderful thing, don't forget what brought them to your property - could turn them away! read more

Course is very nice but long and always windy! However the Staff are absolutely incredibly RUDE! When we dropped our bags the man acted as though we were bothering him and when I told him our tee time and group he never responded as though he was totally disinterested. Then we went in to check on as WOW! The guys was actually a JERK to us. Charge us double what we should have paid as card members and give was some BS about booking too far ahead to get the member discount! How about you tell us that at the time we book?? Not when we're paying. Not to mention our round is sure to be a 6 hour round today! Not coming back here! Too many other really nice courses to choose from!! read more

They've got a ranger on Moorland that needs some attention. Poor guy must have been bullied a bit growing up. There's a way to speak to people, and clearly he's never had to assert authority in a manner to not come off like he's still running a plantation. Absolutely uncalled for, and hopefully no one else has to experience this. Been coming to this resort for 5 years and have never had an issue like this--great course, but should reach their folks some soft skills. read more

The courses are FIVE star no doubt (even when wet) but the customer service of the pro shop and the housekeeping are both horrible. I'm a Southerner and try not to blame the Northern attitude as the reason that Yankee guys are horrible to deal with, but it appears to be the case for most of the guys here at Legends. The old, Crypt Keeper looking starter is an ass and the whole pro shop staff are asses. We had a large group and they treated us like crap. As for the housekeeping, the rooms were dirty, the "clean" towels they gave us were old and did not appear to be clean. Just a bad experience!!!! We won't be back. read more

The courses are in great shape and I tip my hat to the golf course maintenance staff. Marshals are pretty good too. But boy does the inside staff behind the pro shop make you feel like your troubling them and if they had it their way they would want you to leave. Very unwelcoming and very unprofessional. They own Heritage as well, who are dynamite high quality professionals from pro shop to restaurant to starters. They should all go their for retraining to learn how to be professional and actually welcome customers. And asking for the "free round subject to availability" in January is like pulling good teeth and they make you feel very unwelcomed to ask about a promotion they are offering!! Then you gotta tip/pay starters to get them to act. They wait until 2 minutes before the first tee to start loading up the carts and its like a zoo out there and nobody knows what the heck is going on. No one provides an update on frost delays. You cant find a starter and bag loader until 2 minutes before you hear from some other golfer as to when we tee off. Again, something they should learn from staff at heritage. Those guys are on time provide updates freindly professional.... I wont be going back to Legends anymore. Perhaps the problem is not the staff but management because its been like this for a few years now but getting worse. Too bad. To start with, I don't play golf or know much about it. Besides miniature golf, that's the closest I have been to it. That said, I came to the Golf Club House to attend a Coastal Carolina Shields club meeting. So I can only review the parts of the premises I used. I do have friends who have played the couse there and they all said they enjoy playing there. The grounds leading to the clubhouse was very nice with beautiful lawns. The club house very nice with lots of wood paneling, beams and trim. Pretty much like I expected from watching the movie Caddyshack, just without the gopher! The room used for the meeting has a large peninsula bar extending down the middle which splits the room. As a bar/dining room it is great but for a meeting, it is a little tough. But the venue is big enough to hold the usual amount of members who attend. So overall, as far as my limited view, it is a very nice location. read more

After years of great memories with our group of Air Force pilots, we will NOT be using the Legends for our annual golf retreat/reunion. Other than the food service, all other service was sub par. Some of our guys drove 10 hours only to wait in line to register for 1 hour!!! the following day one of our guys went to hit balls on the range. When he discovered the ball machine was empty he asked a nearby employee for help. The response he got was "that's not my job"..... The rooms are outdated and in need of a massive update. The beds are terrible and the shower sprayed everywhere but on you. On our last day I saw a large cockroach on the wall behind my bed. Food is pre-cooked and after a couple of days frankly boring (eggs, hash browns, pancakes/French toast, grits, bacon). Golf is good, though there was a lot of maintenance going on while we played. A real step down from years past. Golf is really popular these days, but the Legends has taken it for granted. We will take our business somewhere else and I recommend everyone look for another venue before booking the Legends. read more

Pros: Played 3 courses. 4-5 Stars. Cons: Stayed on property. Condo was ok, but they took nearly 3 days to fix a damaged item that honestly would take less than five minutes. This after reporting problem on first day when I got to the unit. Do better. - Even if you stay/paid for multiple days, you have to go and potentially stand in a long line in the pro shop to get a "daily" meal ticket. Why put guest through this? They have the date of use on it, so give the 5 days at once vs 5 trips to get a daily. read more

Golf is fantastic. We didn't stay at the hotel. Great deal that you get breakfast and lunch with greens fees. Unfortunately if you play 36 you may not get lunch. Our waitress Presley seemed more intent on talking up other table. We waited 45 minutes for lunch. Didn't get out food and had to leave to make our afternoon tee time. When we spoke to the manager she shook her head and asked who we ordered with. Not good to be dismissed without even talking to us. Highly recommend the courses and breakfast. If you play 36 an hour to get lunch before your next tee time might be impossible!! read more

You get what you pay for here. Nice courses but its a factory and things can slip through the cracks. The accommodations are okay, though would be nice to have more outdoor space. Big issue for us is we were greeted by dirty towels left in the bathroom. Seriously, it's Nov 2020 and we're in the midst of a pandemic! Clearly they didn't clean the bathroom. Did they clean the rest of the place? Food was fine, though very basic. Understandable given the volume of golfers being served. It was rather disturbing to be greeted by bag handlers and front desk employee who chose not to respect their guests and wear a mask in the midst of a pandemic. If I'm wearing a mask, then you should at least be respectful of your guests and pretend to care. Lastly and perhaps many won't care so much about this, but there was no way to recycle. I asked, but the front desk said they don't recycle at all. Think about it. Groups of, mostly, men on a golf trip. They (we) drink a lot of beer. I left with two large bags of cans and plastic water bottles to bring home and recycle myself. read more

Wife and I could not hit off of grass driving range, because that range was closed. So, we headed to the mat area to hit balls. At least a dozen golfers were hitting off the area just in front of the mats, hitting driver, because there are no tees on the mats. That was fine until the gentleman who was retrieving the empty baskets came by, amazingly he stepped on not one but two of my clubs. I asked him to be careful and checked out my shafts to see if he bent them, he did not. Apparently me asking him to be careful pissed him off and he said my wife could not tee off in front of the mats. I looked around and saw the other golfers teeing off and asked if I had pissed him off. We complied and moved back to the mats. As he was about to leave in his cart I said, hold it the guy next to me is still hitting from in front of the mats - are you really that pissed off? He grunted and went to the guy hitting in the front of the mats and told the guy he'd have to move back because the guy next to you doesn't want you hitting in front of the mats. What a sweetheart. The other 11 golfers continued to hit in front of the mats. Nothing like a jerk working the driving range. read more

My daughter and I played here for first time. Starting was a little different as they didn't load bags until time to head to tee. Fairways were a little tighter than what we are used to but in good shape. Greens were great. Rolled true and not too slow or fast. Ranger is around often in an attempt to keep slow groups moving. Slow play isn't on the course. I've watched way too many groups just be slow and not playing ready golf. Would like to play some other courses on property. Would play again! read more

Joined Legends Players Club a month ago. Part of the membership is supposedly a 20% merchandise discount. I asked the other day how much the $45 Chrome Softs would cost and was told the 20% discount is already factored in.....I call bullshit on that. Overall I feel like the membership is still worth it but why give me this nonsense about a 20% discount when they have no intention of honoring it. Really pisses me off at the end of the day. read more

I regret that I can't rate them lower than one star. There should be negative numbers to describe the experience I had there late last year. I had bed bugs in my bed and was attacked by them viciously. The resort admitted that I had been affected and moved my group of 4 to another villa. The resort refused to reimburse me for any of my medical expenses, they wouldn't even refund my stay! I hired an attorney and was able to get restitution but only fighting this thru for over a year. The resort management were arrogant and unresponsive. the Golf Trip Rep (Golf Trek) didn't do anything to help resolve this situation. I wouldn't even consider either organization for our future golf trips. read more

The overall quality of the courses is pretty good. The meal package is good. The only downfall is the staff. It seems that their job is to move you through a process as quickly as possible with as few pleasantries as possible. Let me preface this by saying I hate slow play. The rangers, however, hate it more than me. Every group that I spoke to said that they were constantly being hustled along to the point that it became difficult to enjoy the round and the scenery because you were constantly feeling rushed. It's difficult to maintain the pace they expect even for a low handicap player like myself when you don't know the course and there are challenging holes. The courses are fantastic but the customer service is awful. I have to call and email them for 3 weeks to book a group reservation. It's like they don't want our business. Then you get someone on the phone who has been ignoring your emails, and she does not even apologize or even remotely bother to be courteous and respectful. If it wasn't for the price, we would not come back. We have been coming for 6 years. It would be nice if the people working in sales would remotely try to do their jobs. read more

This is a very disorganized setup. Check in time is a nightmare, all these paper tickets for drinks, breakfasts and lunches etc are so 1970's... its kind of ridiculous in this day and age... the owners of the resort ought to be ashamed... get it into at least the 2000's with some kind of app or something. That said the resort is nice, condos are excellent - clean, modern and spacious. The Pub is great as is the Highlands bar in the main building. This is totally due to the hard working staff in those locations...staff such as Becca in the Highlands who makes guests feel very comfortable and cared for with herSouthern charm and attentiveness to details and excellent service. Same in the Pub where Tanya does an exceptional job with doing the same. This place has excellent staff, but really needs some more effective organization and processes to see the success that the staff work hard for, despite the poor organization, processes and procedures. Legends golf course, Heathland, Moorland and Parkland tops out as the worst golf experience ever. The staff is terrible. There is no communication on frost delays. Over booked tee times. Had a 2:20 tee time today on Parkland and would probably still be sitting on the first tee waiting on five groups ahead of us to tee off. It's 3:50 as I write this. Most rounds we played there this winter were over 5 hours and no rangers at all to monitor pace of play. It's about nothing but the money. This place is the pits!! read more

The Director of Sales, his team, and the waitress at the bar were amazing. They really hooked my Wingman and Me up (We're both military). They were very polite and helpful. The complex itself was awesome and we had a great time playing golf here. Anyone reading this review should really come stay here, play golf, and eat at the bar. read more
