We came here 5 years ago when my oldest was really little and the impression was so strong we came back while he is still a kid. For a 6 and 9 year old this is a perfect place to take them, especially if they are into Lego. Designed by BIG (Bjarke Ingels Group) the architecture is reminiscent of Lego while not being overt and in your face in execution. It's very balanced for somehwere to come as a kid and as an adult. Here are some tips and advice during your visit to Lego House: -There are playgrounds and photo-ops outside, The obvious ones are at the entrance but every floor has a cool little play area that is often empty you should check out. -You get a RFID bracelet you use to get your own personal creations and photos and they are available for 29 days online. The quality of photos isn't great but all the digital assets are very high resolution. -Check the calendar and make reservations like for the robot cafe, we were lucky to have a lego designer signing the day we went. -The basement is an amazing chronological history of Lego and worth checking out at opening. read more

Lego House was our final stop after taking selfies outside of Lego Corporate, Ole Kirk's House, Lego factory and a couple other Lego buildings. We came on 9/22 before Lego House closed for a couple days and it was not crowded at all. There were no lines or waits for any of the experiences We loved the different experience zones where we let our creative juices flow. Per the staff, each zone was meant to challenge a different part of your brain but we just enjoyed everything. All of our creations and selfies were tracked against the QR Code on our wristbands and we downloaded everything from the website within 30 days of our visit. Besides the experiences, there were lots of Lego creations to see and admire on every floor and the Lego history museum was a must see. The museum was a comprehensive timeline of Lego from the founding to the present. You can even check out the collection of select Lego sets but the online database was even more comprehensive. Now I know which sets were issued in the birth year of all my kids! The only area we missed out was the mini chef restaurant since we didn't make reservations. The restaurant wasn't full but you could only sit and order with a timed entry. Oh well next time. Lego House was definitely designed for all ages! read more

Let's say, I have thought about what I would say about this place a few times, because I had been asked how my Denmark vacation was, and when it comes down to it, Lego House was certainly one of the highlights. If you like Lego, you will probably enjoy many aspects of this place. A cross between Museum and Experiential kid's centre, it has something for everyone. To be honest, as an adult, if you just spend the time to look at the walls, and all the nuanced things that are placed around the entire structure, you will need a couple of day so to soak it all in. The history is incredible, and the bottom level has all the dreamy bits and pieces of what is today, Lego... and the story of what was... when it first started. Plan a day or two, because as an adult, there is plenty to partake. If you have a kiddo, I recommend coming early, and kicking off doing some of the Stop Motion stuff, as well as the neat STEM flower planting stuff. Worth it? yes. read more

i HIGHLY recommend LEGO house for lego fanatics or children. i personally thought it would've been more of a museum showcasing various lego builds. however, it was more divided into creativity zones each of them fillies with bunch of legos and various inspirations on what to build. this is great for kids as it allows their imagination to flow!! they did have one floor dedicated to the history of the lego. they have photo stands everywhere which is very handy to snap photos during your visit, which are all uploaded to your wristband. this is highly helpful for group photos and allowing kids to take their own photos. i loved how they had exclusive lego sets only available at the LEGO house. a few of them are the original duck, an architecture set of lego house (which is my personal favorite), and some of the fabuland friends. i wish they had a more variety of sets and its a major point on why i wanted to visit it. the admission cost is pricey, not sure how worth it is. you do get 6 red bricks that you get to see be made in front of you! read more

Amazing location to see where it all started with legos. We spent all day here and my daughter, husband and myself cherish the time here about two years ago. As two adults with no children, my husband and I were torn on whether we should visit here or not. We really just wanted to see the LEGO tree and some of the other creations. We were passing through Billund and our only opportunity to visit here was about an hour before they closed. For just an hour of time, I'm not sure I would say the admission cost is worth it. It would be nice if they offered discounted admission for visits like this as we weren't really able to interact with most of the house. Cool concept though. read more

If you're a fellow LEGO geek, or not... this is a MUST stop in Denmark. Lots of places to play for the kids. Adults will be quite satisfied with the selection. There's even a LEGO cafeteria, we didn't try it though it looked awesome. If you're visiting from outside of Denmark, make sure you ask for paperwork to receive your VAT refund. We're only writing a review of Lego House because we wanted to write a review of Mini Chef (the restaurant), which was an amazing experience. The food is mediocre at best, but we loved this place so much that we're rounding way the hell up based on an overall experience. But first...Legos! This place is so fun, is expertly designed, and everything just radiates joy and play. Everyone is having a great time with the Legos, kids and adults alike. The different "zones" have different themes and there's plenty to do. Our daughter was in heaven. As adults, out favorite part was the really well-curated and fascinating history collection that they have downstairs in the basement. Yes, we're sure it's Lego propaganda, but it really seems like such a great company! FYI to dine in Mini Chef, you need to have a reservation, and they do sell out, so we were lucky to get a last-minute one just as they were closing. This cafe is seriously the greatest concept in dining, possible rivaling our experience at Noma a few days ago. There are a lot of rules, and we definitely were giving Dumb American Tourist vibes, but we eventually got the hang of it and so had the best time here. You order drinks through a computer system on the table, and then you design a Lego thing by color that decodes what you want your meal to be, and then the whole thing comes out in a massive Lego box delivered by a robot!!! F-U-N!! (Don't worry, there are actual humans around to assist you.) So gimmicky, but we were lapping it up. There's also, of course, Legos everywhere to play with, and then they do a little something extra for the kids at the end. The beer on tap washes down some pretty underwhelming food. The "salad" was a single carrot, cucumber, apple, and watermelon slice LOL. The Indian chickpeas dish was barely lukewarm, and the zucchini was thick and unseasoned. But the meatballs aren't too bad, our daughter had some decent fries, and we liked those fritter veggie ball things that was probably the best thing of all. So, don't expect much quality when it comes to the cuisine, but we are still smiling many hours later because the experience itself was such a hoot. Five happy stars--thanks for the memories! We're hoping that the Legoland we're going to tomorrow (this is our third one) also evokes such childlike wonder. Five stars. read more

If you are a fan of Legos, you need to visit the Lego House in Billund, Denmark. This is a place where Lego fans of all ages will geek out! We were based out of Copenhagen, Denmark on our vacation, so we had to take an 2.5hr train ride plus a 30 minute bus ride and a 10 minute walk to get to the Lego House, but it was well worth it for the experience. Neither my kids, my wife or I are huge fans of Legos, but we enjoy playing and build things with them. Since we are in Denmark, we can't miss the chance to check out the birthplace of Legos! When you are enter the lobby, you will be directed to the ticket station where you can purchase you pass (Wristband) to enter the main attraction. You cannot bring in backpacks or bags (purses are ok). They have lockers that you can use for free and are locked/unlocked with your wristband). Once inside, there is so much to see and do as the whole attraction is super interactive! The Lego House is divided into various areas where you can enjoy free-play and build what every you want, build your own character, build a fish, build a race car and much more. There are interactive stations such as making your own Lego Stop Motion Movie and program a robot or plant digital flowers. Every area has kiosks where you can scan your Lego creations into a digital album that you can later download with your wristband and Lego ID (scan your wristband at the Lego ID kiosk to get your Lego ID card which will show your name built with 6 Lego blocks). If you actually get bored planing inside with legos, you can play outside on their rooftops. Each part of the building has a rooftop with something you can play on. At the very top building, the rooftop looks like a Lego brick with skylights with Lego written on it. We played on the rooftop at the end of our day when the Lego House closed (the Lego Store inside opens for 1 house more after the Lego House closes). Frankfly, I would move into the Lego House, if I had the choice! Where do I start? The architectural design is pure genius and is supposed to look like the entire structure is assembled from gigantic 2x4 Bricks. You can climb the structure, and every surface features themed play-areas, and gives you a nice view of Billund. You don't even need a ticket to do this, as the ticketed entrance is well inside the building. Inside, you can find a LEGO-store and a restaurant, which can also be entered without the need of a ticket. The center features a gigantic tree, made from standard-sized bricks, and a staircase that climbs up to the top around it. The top floor features an exhibition of AFOL's (Adult Fan Of Lego), impressive creations and three large dinosaurs (representing Duplo, Lego and Lego Technik). As you slowly move downwards, through the themed portions of the building, you quickly come to realize what an enormous amount of thought went into every single detail, as well as the overall vision of each theme. There is no way, you will be able to notice all of the little jokes and easter-eggs hidden in the mini-world area. A little piece of the personality of every creator involved in building the Lego House can be seen here. Not to be missed is the history section in the basement. Apart from exhibitions of practically every major milestone in LEGO history, you can also find a lot of old sets, and cinema showing old commercials and an excellent 3D animation covering the creation of LEGO. Don't forget to download the LEGO House app onto your smartphone and use the little kiosks in every section, to scan your wrist-band. This is a perfect way to capture memories and your creations. The employees deserve special recognition. They are friendly, helpful, patient and really seem to enjoy their job, and I've had reason to write personal compliments to the LEGO House about inviduals on more than one occasion. As the LEGO motto goes "Only the Best is good enough!". The restaurant at the bottom is worth a visit, too. The food should not be the focus as it is quite expensive, and not necessarily to everyone's liking, but the process of ordering your meal, with LEGO bricks, and the robots 'presenting' the LEGO-themed lunch-boxes, is worth the cost and experience. I could write a book about this place, if it hadn't already been done. Do buy the book featured in the store, and I also recommend watching the documentary 'LEGO House, Home of the Brick' on Netflix to learn about it, before your visit. If you travel here by car, make sure you park in the designated LEGO House parking lot, just on the outskirts of the small town of Billund. Parking tickets in Denmark can be very expensive! read more

So, Lego no longer owns the theme parks. So for a real Lego vibe, this is the center of the dot. A real Lego feeling, cool Lego history interestingly presented, and very friendly staff. You want to play with Lego? This is how you play with Lego. Not a lot of characters or stuff from the last 20 years of television, but Lego Lego Lego. Good. The Mini Brick restaurant was inventive and interesting and not just a little tasty (either TL got it wrong or they have improved since then). Much better than any amusement park food. Ever. The Brickochino cafe makes a great cafe latte. No complaints. read more

This place is amazing. We loved everything lego and this is definitely the place to be. There's a lot of interesting things to do but my son's favorite was the big rubber legos he can build with in the ground floor of the building. There are areas of this building that you can access for free: the lobby which had lego toys to play with, the lego store, the outside play areas and the restaurant/coffeeshop. The Lego store prices here are about 15% more than back home but there are Lego House exclusive items that you can only purchase at this location. The restaurant is a whole new level of experience from ordering to receiving our food. I think the steep price of about 169DKK + tax per person is worth it for the unique experience. Food quality is pretty good too. The sesame noodles and roasted cauliflower is amazing. read more
