Honestly, the best fry you'll ever taste will be one from Ashers. Ashers was established in 1992 (Seems like it's been a lot longer, it's one of those places I feel like I couldn't live without now) and they've gone from strength to strength growing in size and reputation. In store they offer a great range of products including sausage rolls, all sorts of bread (soda,potato,weaten,brown/white loaves) various savoury bites and that's not even including their sweet range which ranges from their cream buns, tray bakes, home made pastries and made to order cakes! On a Sunday morning you'll often find me here scoffing down a fry (I get the regular one, my boyfriend picks the monster option, and boy what a monster it is!) The last time we were here I asked one of the staff to describe what Ashers meant to her and I loved her reply that "Ashers create what customers crave!" (So true!) and that the company aims to be one of the most popular and recognisable bakeries across Northern Ireland. (They're certainly well on their way here!)

We sampled the scones and the shortbread along with various coffees on couple of visits and found everything delightful. It is a family run business that sometimes finds all hands on deck running freshly baked items from the family kitchen next door straight to the display case. The cottages make for a perfect vacation hub for families visiting the Antrim coast and this little cafe allows for the perfect start to each day of exploration.

The interior of Ground is well thought out, with the maximum number of seats without making the space feel crowded. The high bar along the window is a particularly good idea and you can people watch while you eat and drink. Ground is popular for breakfast/brunch and lunch, as well as morning and afternoon tea. So that's all day then really. Breakfasts include bagels, croissants and muffins and Ground has a reputation for serving up really good coffee. As a non coffee drinking freak, I can't vouch for that but I can tell you that the coffee smells good. More substantial meals include panninis - chicken, cheese and sweet chilli being my personal fav - and home made soups like pea and ham and curried parsnip. Yum. Coffee and food available remains the same as to be expected from chain brnach and thats not too bad. I'm not a big fan of Starbuck coffee, but the consistency means that youre not going to get anything bad either. What I like about this new set up is the place was open, airy and relaxed and the extra space means that there is a high proportion of comfortable seating. The free wifi also remains and was easy to use and seemed reliable.

I'm never in it much to be honest but when I am I always order a fry up which I'd highly recommend. The fry menu is strange there's a Falstaffs fry, an Ulster fry or ofcourse the mini fry. Between the two main all day fry's there isn't much of a difference in what you get on your plate although price wise there IS. Staff are friendly and although I've never been one for handing out tips (I think unlike in America or the continent we are odd about tipping in this country) but they have a "hard to miss" tips box at the checkout and my last visit when I treated a few family members to lunch we were quite impressed with food and service so we duly tipped! One thing about the cafe and it can be quite frustrating is the lack of room at the sit down area's. It can be quite cramped and when diners come into the place you usually find yourself having to adjust your seat or even table to let them squeeze through. However it's when people with buggys come in, parents with kids in toe that's when the real claustrophobia hits you. Overall a nice cafe and popular with locals let down by a lack of space which on a busy day can spoil your dining quite considerably.
