My sister in law fell a sleep during hers and I fell into that deep lull. The pressure was great and she checked on the pressure with you. The room is cozy and a has great relaxing vibe snd not over powering with scents and the music she choose was great. And for being in Montclair her prices are reasonable in my opinion. I can no longer recommend Eligio…read more As someone substantially disabled in a car accident just before Covid and with long covid I had decided to stay with Eligio as a provider even tho things weren't always smooth because for a time i thought it would be hard to find someone new. That's my bad. In the last year however Eligio's work, manner and ability to keep agreements has substantially declined even with consistent communication including phone, texts and in person communication that included several rounds of agreement making. Before this last year the issues were: he always pulled my hair when he worked on my head and neck and made a joke about the "hair pulling part of the session." Which is not just not funny, he knows he's hurting me but never upped his skills to stop. For years. That actually should have been enough to stop working with him. He'd be casually late for quite awhile until i insisted he notify me before the start of our session time. He never learned to calibrate to my needs had to constantly be reminded to not push too hard on my feet and back and not tork/tear my knees when raising my legs. This should have been a deal breaker given how long it went on. We did out calls to my home and he had to be reminded of basically everything including putting the toilet seat down in our bathroom. (I'm disabled and bending over is hard. I literally asked him 12 times to put it down before he remembered once on his own.) people are imperfect and I try to be forgiving and communicative. He did not put the room back in order after use. He moved all kinds of things and frequently did nothing to clean up post session. Annoying but not a deal breaker. Like I said he's just not paying attention. Over the past year several things have happened that made us decide that we cannot work with him any more. Eligio injured my back. Repeatedly He has always required feedback to keep him from using too much pressure or not torking my knees. But in the last year he made things demonstrably worse many, many times. And generally took no responsibility for that impact . Now I realize that's because he's just not able to attune to sensitive needs unless constantly directed. In other words: his sessions are not relaxing because he has a tendency to accidentally and repeatedly injure me. At least a third of the sessions for the last year he hurt me and I had significantly more pain when standing after a session. If I fall asleep in a session, he reliably injures my back. Every time. When I woke up in pain and asked him to fix it, he charged for that time having never mentioned it to me or asked for consent or created clarification. Which is code for he: he hurt me and overcharged me and then was pissed when I asked him about it. His response? He's short on cash and he worked over the session time. I talked to him and put my feedback in writing to him. We made new agreements that included getting consent for additional fees in the moment and stopping sessions if I fall asleep. His major concern of stopping a session if I fall asleep was "will I get paid?" Given that we paid on time every time, that was wild And utterly self serving. The final deal breaker was weaponizing my diagnosis against me instead of taking ownership of his decisions. He is someone who has a hard time taking responsibility for his impact. I cannot recommend him. Especially if you have pain.

I'm so excited to have an option near me! I had a fantastic experience for my first time. I did an hour deep message. This also includes the stretching and hot stone. The owner, Sirin, is amazing! I arrived on time and she put me in a room and when I was undressed on the table she came in to tell me the masseuse would come in another 5-10 minutes and then told me about their parking lot in the back. As a first time customer, I didn't know they had a safer parking lot option in the back but was already undressed and on the table. She could have asked me where I parked and told me about the lot in the back when she let me in but didn't. There was some discussion about whether parking on the street in front would be safe but it was inconvenient to dress and re park the car and get undressed again. Masseuse Maria was said to be very good per Cherry but came in with a lot of rushed energy to start the 60 min massage. The pressure was too light at first and Cherry had said for any deeper pressure I would have to pay $80 for the 60 minutes instead of $70 which would be a "very light touch." When I requested deeper pressure from Maria she decided to walk on my body. It was painful at times and I have had this treatment many times elsewhere and it didn't feel the same in terms of her sensitivity to the client's body resistance. I relaxed and dozed off for 20 minutes or so during the body massage after she walked on my back. But she ran out of oil or had some issues with the bottle and was audibly upset about it which ruined the flow. Most of the massage felt rushed and not a calm and relaxing experience. She left to get hot towels and wiping up was rough compared to other experiences. The oil also felt greasy and I showered immediately after, especially because she wore gloves and massaged my face after the body oil. Afterwards I asked for change for a $20, intending to give somewhere between $18-25 for the $60 service. As soon as Maria saw my $20 and I asked for change her attitude turned sour. She came back with two $10 bills and I asked for one $5 and five $1 bills. She was very unhappy and was muttering in Chinese about it. Word of advice - don't assume your customers do not understand/speak Cantonese or Mandarin because many do. Grumbling about getting change for YOUR tip and demanding $20-25 was over the top and was the last straw. Maggie said restaurants charge at least 18% for tip for individual service. She also said her rates of $80 for 60 min was cheap and other places are $130 for 75 min. Honestly, I am dumbfounded because I've never been to any spa where they had this kind of attitude immediately after treatment because a customer requested change for cash for the tip. Maria didn't even charge me for the $60 and was solely focused on her tip. I told Maggie I hadn't been charged as an honest customer and she looked shocked Maria had not charged me for the service yet. Save your money and go elsewhere to relax unless you want to be more stressed about car safety/parking, how much to tip for subpar service that felt rushed and uneven, and how much other massage places charge and how much other customers tip comparatively.
