Since the Thai food is good in Fairbanks, had to try another spot as well. Lemon Grass Thai Cuisine seemed to be the overall popular pick, so I had to check it out. Ordered Pad See Ew with Beef, Gaeng Pa-Nang with Halibut, and Pad Plick Khing with Halibut. Although I thought this was very good, I didn't think it was better than the other Thai restaurant that I had been to earlier in the week. Food was just missing that little something that would make it truly elite. I will give credit to the Mango Sticky Rice though, that was great. Staff here were really friendly. Got recommended by our ice fishing instructor to get this Thai restaurant and claimed it was the best in Fairbanks so you know we had to do it! Came on a Monday around 6pm and it wasn't too packed and we didn't wait long to get a table at all. I would say it definitely was busier than Thai house. * Pad Kee Mao (drunken noodles) : This was really flavorful and more on the salty side as opposed to sweet and tangy like the one at Thai house. Also the noodles are less saucy and it seems more of a stir fry as some noodles had burnt marks on it. It was still delicious! I got this dish with chicken and I love how they give a small little salad next to it. Also love how they provide a slice of lemon. The noodles felt never ending almost. I'm not sure if I can decide which one I like better between the drunken noodles here vs at Thai house. Both are super different and taste good. * Pad Kee Mao: My friend got this noodle dish and he said it was a 7/10. Tons of thai people and locals seem to eat here. We came here weekday nights and luckily there was no wait for either time. Overall, the food was great although I don't think it was the best Thai food I've had. Salmon pad thai: they used vermicelli noodles which isn't my favorite and it was also a bit too salty strangely. The flavors were good though. Choo Chee Scallops: scallops were slightly overcooked but the light curry sauce was good and complemented the dish. Strawberry cheesecake: more like a cheese torte than a creamy cheesecake. They have rotating homemade seasonal cakes, and this was good, although not quite a cheesecake Hot thai tea has endless refills and is like thai iced tea without any sugar (probably obvious to most!) and the signature cocktail was too sweet for my liking but they did warn me beforehand. Panang curry with beef: the beef was tender and they give you a lot of curry, so much that we had to order 2 servings of rice. Both white and brown rice are good but they are extra cost. Khao Soi with seafood: this was good too but our broth didn't come hot. The prawns and shrimp were perfectly cooked, and it came with one scallop and a bit of halibut. Saw Lemongrass Thai highly rated online, so I figured when in Fairbanks, eat Thai food! Ordered ahead for a pickup on a Friday around 6:30, and was estimated my order ready at 6:55. The restaurant was quite full when I arrived, with several families waiting outside on benches. There were a lot of people standing in line to order to-go meals, so I went ahead and waited. While moving to the front, a worker happened to bring out two bags of food around 6:50, one of which had my name on it, so I grabbed it. Food was packaged with the broth+scallops (there were about 5-6 of them) in a paper closed container, and the noodles and other fixings in a cardboard box that had been left open, which posed no issue. I added things together and ate, and it was delicious! I ordered medium spice which was honestly more spice than I expected, so I can only imagine how hot "Thai spice" gets to! I had to go up to the counter several times to get the servers attention. Pad see yew was a little tough and chewy, my friend had trouble chewing it since she has sensitive teeth. Also it was a little too salty, not enough flavors of other ingredients soy sauce, fish sauce, garlic, etc. Red curry could use some fresh ingredients such as bell peppers. The bamboo was a little tough and chewy. The deep fried curry battered corn cakes appetizer was pretty tasty, not too greasy. I've never had that before and wanted to try it. Wow! This was some of the most amazing Thai I've had in years. I loved Lemon Grass so much, I wish I was able to go back for more before leaving town. From the moment you walk in you are enveloped in the delicious aroma of spices of Thailand. This place was jumping by 6pm, and had a TON of to-go orders waiting for pick up, along with dining room service. There was a nice selection of dishes to choose from, and most could be made with a GF sauce, FYI. I ordered the Pad Thai with prawns. It was to die for! Most Thai joints have a pretty sweet peanut sauce, and half way through the dish I'm tagging out, because it's just too sweet. Lemon Grass was the first Thai restaurant to ask me what spice level I wanted. I had no idea Pad Thai could have a spice level! I'm a medium spicy girl, and having my first Pad Thai dish that was both sweet and spicy was a game changer! It was absolutely amazing! Going forward, I'll be asking for all my Pad Thai dishes to pack some extra heat. I just loved how authentic Lemon Grass was, and could see why they've done so well these past 30 years. I will never regret trying this place, it was an absolute delight. The restaurant is super cute and cozy with very fitting decor. The Drunken Noodles were more like Phở noodles, and the Pad Thai were vermicelli instead of the typical pad Thai noodles. However the seasoning was on point. The salmon and halibut were so fresh, we could see the pink-red color from the salmon instead of the pink-orange color that we usually saw. The fishes were more on the dry side than fatty, which we assumed that was because they were wild-caught instead of local farmers. The restaurant had a family-friendly vibe.
