I was in town for my niece's theater show and we needed to find a place that is open for a late-ish dinner. I am surprised to see that many restaurants closed early on a Friday night! We found on Yelp, this restaurant named Lemon Zest. It is a restaurant that is part of small business center but Lemon Zest looks like a stand alone business. The interior was designed so nice with ample seating outside in the patio area and inside. This place is meant to hold large parties. The vibe is so cool for a casual date or dinner and drinks with friends. It is also cool to host a mixer or private party! At 9:15pm we were the only party and our server treated us so well. She didn't rush us but she did check in with us periodically. I wish we got her name so we can properly give her praise. The food was amazing. This is my first time here so I ordered the beef gyro plate and paid extra for loaded Greek fries. The plate was huuuge! Such a generous serving that is enough for two people to eat. The fries were crisp and the toppings worked so well. It complimented the thin, well-seasoned slices of beef. The pita was cut into triangles, making the perfect bite. This meal was so life-changing I had to hop back on yelp to tell everyone. Firstly, the interior is well-decorated and spacious and the ambiance is excellent and our server said that the menu is part Persian inspired. Most importantly, the food was the greatest ever. My family would have been fine with just the baba ganoush and roasted eggplant-- it was hearty and creamy and garlicky, everything I have ever wanted in a dish. But of course, we ordered the super combo due to our hubris and paid the price (we took a bunch of boxes). They are not kidding when they say the Super Combo feeds 4-5, they must be talking about 4-5 men in their early 20s because it was way too much for us. The parking situation is tricky if the lot is full because the lot is super narrow and if the restaurant is full you won't find parking in their lot. Their staff is sweet and helpful. I placed an order at 12PM through grubhub to be picked up BY 12:45pm. I figured that is plenty time to give to have my order ready and I never got any notification that there was an issue. We get there to pick up the order and was given attitude that they just received the order. I am confused about the hype here. I ordered the beef lule but on my receipt they charged me for the vegan beef lule. Not sure which one they gave me regardless, the item was not flavorful. There was a hint of flavor of basic ingredients but seconds afterwards you get a bland tasteless meat. I understand that Mediterranean rice has no seasoning but surprisingly I had other rice that did have some flavor to it. The Cesar salad was blah. One thing I would praise on is the portion size. This is an amazingly good restaurant. It is not just good for lunch or dinner, we had a party there for 60 people. Sevan, the manager, organized the whole event for me. He suggested both food and party items to make the party better. He watched over the entire event and when something was needed (food, service, etc.) he made sure it happened promptly. Went here on a Sunday around 3pm. Parking could be difficult during peak times since it is one way only shared with other buildings. (I parked on the reserved spot for the dentist parking spot, but since it was closed on Sunday; I took that risk. I didnt get towed but still be cautious if you attempt to do this.) We came in a party of 4 people. The restaurant wasn't packed when we came for dinner and could choose to sit wherever we wanted. I ordered the chicken plate with half rice and half salad. The others ordered beef gyro. The portion sizes are GIGANTIC. The servers were really friendly. Food came out in about 10-15 minutes. We had stayed and talked for about 3-4 hours there after finishing our dinner. I didnt want to be rude and thought they were going to kick us out but the servers even offered to refill our waters while we kept talking. First of all, the parking lot is kind of crap. Like always packed, tight, people parking like twats and eating up two spots. So discouraging. But we will overcome, dammit. And so we did! It says please wait to be seated but there's no host. No worries - they're short-staffed and everyone is running around. We wait until someone grabs us and snag a spot easily. The table is dirty but someone comes over to wipe it down. We get waters - the glasses have a scent to them, and not a great one. I'm willing to overlook it and just don't drink the water. Was really excited about the meal. The food is fucking epic. The vegan beef Lule kebab is one of the best things I've had in a long time. Delicate, well-seasoned, just bursting with flavor. I overheard that they sold out of it right after we got it, so you know it's popular. We also tried the salmon kebab, which is also absolutely delish. Most of the Mediterranean places we've tried tend to overcook fish and this was done just right. Seasoned to perfection. The pickled cabbage was the tits - I love pickled veg and this was such a nice bite with the salmon or lule, on a little piece of grilled pita. We also tried the veggie platter, which was pretty good. The falafel are a little small and just alright, in my opinion. But the roasted veggies were great the hummus was solid, and the Greek salad was a nice palette cleanser. Price is very fair for the quality and size - we came hungry and still left with a bunch of leftovers. Would 100% return here and maybe get some bottled beverages next time. I've tried this twice now and both times we've ordered for to go. We definitely will dine in one day because the inside looks really nice and clean. I really like their portions for the lule kabob. Their beef kabob and chicken are good as well. It comes with rice, a salad and pita bread. It would be nice if the pita bread was on the side since it's beneath the meat and rice making it soggy. This was my first time visiting this restaurant. Upon arriving, I was immediately greeted by the host. He let me know that they currently had an event going on, and that the wait times could vary! Décor was reminiscent of more trendy modern restauraunts. The prices of each dish are a little higher. When we ordered, the staff informed us of options and we went with suggestions. It's easy to dismiss Lemon Zest as merely a chain restaurant, with its seemingly innocuous name, but what we have here is Mediterranean cuisine done right and packing a lot of flavor! The restaurant is spacious and inviting, and is certainly not a vanilla corporate restaurant. It is more like you're a guest at someone's nicely-decorated home. All the food is freshly made daily, and you can taste that right away from the Babaganoush. Made from grilled eggplant mixed with tahini, lebne, extra virgin oil, and garlic, it is rich, buttery, and yet creamy and cool. It's a treat eating it with the slices of flat bread sprinkled with zaatar and olive oil. At first, it feels like there is not enough flatbread, but you can request more! Worth it! I wanted to try the beef kebab, but sadly they ran out (co-owner Mike said they order 50 lbs of beef and chicken daily and they do run out!), but the Lule kebab plate more than makes up for this. The beef kebob is bursting with flavor, is well seasoned, and is moist with hint of char. You get two large size kebabs, too. Most dishes are priced in the low to mid-$20s, but unlike many other similar restaurants, you get so much for your money. The portion is huge, with the delicious, buttery rice almost spilling over the edges of the serving dish-sized plate. There is enough in one plate to serve 2 people or 1 very hungry individual (like me!). Finally, I had the Baklava to go, but sampled a bite.
