Cascade Painting just finished painting our 2 story house and my husband and I are blown away with…read morehow great a job they did. Our house outer walls are T1-11, a type of grooved plywood. The builder had barely painted and sealed the surface leaving it open to the PNW weather. I was afraid we'd have to put new siding on at great expense because it looked so bad. Sam Mitowski and his crew did a fabulous job prepping the surface and put a second coat of primer on to make sure there was good adherence for the the paint. My neighbors are all impressed and I'm handing Sam's card to anyone who asks. We have more interior work to do and then I'm having the crew back to paint the house's interior. I'd like to note that we've refreshed and sold three homes we've lived in. Sam impressed by his preference to use Benjamin Moore paint. I've seen cheaper paints fade and/or shift color in less than 5 years. There's a reason interior designers/professionals prefer this brand- it's durable and easy to clean. (I do not now nor I have never worked for BM paint. I'm not related to anyone who works or owns stock there. I simply find it the best paint for the purpose. Their primers not only make surfaces take paint better, they save money on more $ paint.)

We hired this company in September 2025 for a full home remodel and paid about $60k in deposits and progress payments. Throughout the project, we were repeatedly told the home would be move-in ready by mid-November and that a guest bathroom was "usable." When we arrived onsite on Nov 27, we found unsafe and unusable conditions that were later confirmed by two independent licensed GCs, including damage to drywall and paint, tile that had to be removed to access underlying damage, exposed electrical work, plumbing done without permits, and partially constructed areas left unsafe. We later learned the GC was not licensed in Washington State, permits were never pulled, and subcontractors had not been paid despite our payments. Subcontractors contacted us directly about payment and lien concerns. Our insurance claim for resulting property damage was denied due to workmanship exclusions. As of January 2026, the home is still uninhabitable and must be redone by licensed professionals. We're posting this to help others avoid a similar situation.

I was able to reach the other sides of my house myself on the ladder to get the job done, but the southwest side of the house was a significantly higher up, due to the slope of my property. I reached out to countless contractors, painters and handymen over the summer to see if anyone was interested/available, and had struck out. Contractors were either already busy, or not interested in the small-ish project (or just didn't respond at all). I had started to price out how much it would cost for me to rent a utility trailer to pick up some rented scaffolding and do the project myself. Then, a friend recommended Straight Arrow Construction. I checked out the website, confirmed there was adequate licensing/insurance on file with the state, and reached out via email. Lon responded a short time later, and stated he was interested in the project, and could complete it within the timeframe I was hoping for (about a month out). The price was reasonable (about $100 more than it would have cost me to rent a utility trailer and scaffolding) and we agreed on some tentative dates that my small-ish project could be squeezed in between other already scheduled projects. Lon arrived on the pre-discussed day, was friendly, and got the job done in about 5 hours (including set up and tear down). He did a great job, and even went above and beyond to caulk/paint areas that he saw needed it and were slightly outside of the area we had discussed. Would definitely recommend and will be considering him for any of my future projects!

He worked very hard to get us back into our house on schedule. He was honest about what he could do and what he couldn't do. He gave me updates regularly - usually daily. He went above and beyond to help me with some plumbing issues that came up when we removed a toilet and appliances. He helped me re- install appliances. Probably most importantly he did an excellent job installing the floors per my fairly detailed request (nail down with underlayment). He had to pull many of the baseboards and he reattached them and touched up everything. The final result is an very nice house. We are so happy with how it looks. Thank you! Also, on a less related note - Brian also installed ~400 feet of picket fence for us in 2018. Also very happy with that job. We have already talked with Brian about our future projects.
