Today, the apartment where Vladimir Ilyich Ulyanov, better known as Lenin, is marked with a plaque at Spiegelgasse 14. It's very close to the Cabaret Voltaire and Central Library where he frequented during his time in exile. He lived there with his wife from February 21, 1916 to April 2, 1917. He lived in Bern for a couple of years prior to moving to Zurich. His time in Switzerland coincides with the start and end of WWI. He eventually would return to Russia after the February Revolution.
Unfortunately, there's not a whole lot to see here. All that is there is the plaque on the building, and the informational marker that is either worn or vandalized. There is a QR code that can be scanned for more information. We just happened to pass through this square as part of a tour. It's a historical landmark. I just hope that they fix this marker one day so that it's easier to read. read more
