Store is great, they do not carry a large selection of designer frames. If you are looking for frames you could get cheaper at Target or Warby then take a look. If you are looking for designer frames this is not the store for you. The Freehold store does carry designer but Lenscrafters should not make me travel to purchase frames that should be available in all stores. read more

Two and half stars, this place is generously OVERRATED when it comes to after Sale service. A defect on one lens, they didn't want to replace it they tried to sell me a new pair. They quickly diagnosed that it was a scratch, that I should have purchased a service plan ,the whole approach , aggressive, intimidating. I would never set foot in this outlet. read more

Terrible!! I got new Ray Ban glasses in May and thank God I paid for the protection plan. In July I noticed a scratch inside the lens and I took them back to get replaced, no problem they replaced the lens and didn't charge me anything. A month later I see a scratch in the same place. I take the glasses back and this time they want to charge me a deductible. They insinuate that it's my fault and that I scratched my glasses. When I complain I have to wait for a resolution because the manager isn't in. He calls me the next day and says the same thing, you have to pay the deductible. When I ask why am I having this issue when I've never had this type of a problem before, his response was "I don't know, I'm not with you 24/7"!! Really, that's your professional response!!! Then I have to give him my debit card info over the phone or he can't order the lens. When I ask if I can pay when I pick them up he says "No, we can't order them without payment". Reluctantly I give him my card number and he says they will call me when the lens are in. Then he has to call me back because he didn't know that he needed the card expiration date and cvv #. How incompetent can people be?? Terrible customer service, rude and poor quality product!! Stay away!! read more

LensCrafters staff was rude and very condescending. Very stuffy attitude. With a straight face they wanted over $400 dollars for hi-index lenses only. I bought the frames from them years back but they seem not to care about that. Their competition was at least 50%-65 % cheaper. General observation is that LenCrafter corporate has a failed business model, and will go the way of blockbuster video within 5 years. If MAJOR changes are not made. Until then they price gouge persons who actually buy from there. (My heart goes out to the large elderly population, in town on fixed incomes, who may not know of better options. Go to Costco, Bjs, or reputable places online, for better prices.) Bottom line I got the high index lenses for $105.00 which was over $300 dollars saved. I walked into the Toms River, New Jersey Lens Crafters at about 3:30pm on May 30, 2012, with a five year old pair of scratched up glasses on my face and a year old pair (frames held together with duct tape after a morning mishap necessitating my visit) in my hand. I signed in with the polite and friendly receptionist at the doctor's office attached to the store, and then filled out all the information the doctor needed before my eye exam. I was told there would be a wait, and it was suggested to me that I go browse the frames for when I am finished with my exam. Knowing that I only have $340 to spend (I live on my own as a 23 year old, existing paycheck to paycheck) I started with the "clearance section." I had been purchasing glasses bi-annually for over ten years with Lens Crafters with my family, so I was quite surprised when I discovered the new "clearance" area. In years past, the section offered last seasons' styles, off brands, or overstocked frames. Today, however, I could not find one pair (out of 30+) that was not warped or bent. A few pairs even had lenses facing different directions. After realizing my duct-taped pair was on par with the "clearance" glasses, I made my way to the employees in the retail part of the store and I explained my situation: I am an independent 23 year old- living on my own and surviving paycheck to paycheck. I then explained that I have $340 to my name, and that I had already accepted the fact that I would be paying my heating and electric bills late in order to be able to see. I then asked, "With my AAA discount (30% off), will I be able to afford a pair of glasses after I pay the doctor $108 for the exam? I don't need anything fancy, just functional and not from this clearance rack. If I can't, please tell me now." She responded, "Absolutely!" I then went back with the doctor. My exam took less than 20 minutes. I went to speak to a second employee from the retail section. Imagine my surprise when I found out that the cheapest lenses I could purchase are $195. Even if I chose the (already broken) "clearance" frames, I would be well short of the necessary funds as they started at $199...which is $394 for those keeping score at home, and that is before taxes and scratch coating etc. I asked about the sign in front of the store that read, "$200 off if your trade in your old pair!" and I was told that did not apply to me with either pair of glasses I had with me. ( I couldn't help but wonder if the store made use of these trade ins from the coupons I could not use for their "clearance" section...my duct taped frames would have been right at home) I then asked about a coupon from the Lens Crafters website that states, "Buy any pair of single vision frames and get your lenses for $99!" I was told that this too did not apply to me. When I asked for a reason, no one seemed to have an answer. Let me add that I use single vision lenses for near sightedness. No astigmatism or anything else to drive up the cost further. I don't fault a company for having high priced merchandise. That is why I don't shop at Louis Vuitton: it is out of my price range, but I know that going in. I asked employees before spending $108 on an eye exam if I could afford their glasses and was told "Yes" emphatically...and I could not. That is dishonest...period. I think it goes without saying, but I did not receive a refund for the eye exam, which truthfully, I understand. They were nice in the doctor's office and they had no idea how unscrupulous their retail associates had been with me. However, I could have saved the $30 in the difference in the cost of the eye exam from your competitor where I got my glasses as well as the $20 in gas I spent to GO to Lens Crafters, because I had an established business relationship with them. That relationship is now severed. Lens Crafters, you were so concerned with profits you pushed this lifelong customer out the door. I may have to wait a week for my glasses now, but I was treated fairly and with dignity by a local competitor. Apparently, they have been quite busy thanks to your new corporate practices and were happy to share horror stories they have heard from your other former customers who fell victim to your bait and switch techniques. They now have my business and anyone else's I can sway with my story of today's events. I may be a broke 23 year old now, but I won't always be. All four of my grandparents and both of my parents have glasses. I have glasses. Chances are, my future children, will need glasses. However, no matter how much I earn in the future, no amount will get me back in your stores. I will post this review wherever I can, and forward copies to your Toms River store manager as well as Lens Crafters corporate offices. I ordered a pair of prescription sunglasses from Lens crafters by way of Oakley on 2/13/13. The estimated delivery date was 2/24/13. I called 3/8/13 at opening for an update regarding my glasses, and was told they had arrived and were in process. I received no call for the remainder of the day. I called again, 3/9/13 figuring that if my glasses had been in process all day, surely a lab that advertises "glasses in about an hour" would have them taken care of. I was informed 3/9/13 that my glasses were still in process, and they might be done today, probably sometime tomorrow (3/10/13). I would think, especially given the delivery delay that Lens crafters might step up and complete my glasses as quickly as possible, however, I am a "nice" customer. I try not to hassle salespeople, I know retail is a rough environment in which you take all sorts of abuse. I suspect my kindness has been taken for granted and I've been set aside as a customer. I will not patronize this store again. I understand there was a third party Lens crafters staff. If I hadn't made the call myself, who knows how long my glasses would be set aside (or for that matter, how long they've just been sitting around "in the process". read more

If I could give 0 stars I would. I am completely dissatisfied and will never again use this or any other lens crafters location. The staff does not care to work with their customers and they produce inferior lenses that have nothing but delamination issues. I purchased two pairs of glasses in April of 2012 both with an additional protection plan. Both pairs have had several delamination issues which have brought me back to the store numerous times. Even though there was a protection plan I have had to pay additional monies to resolve the issues and then pay for a new protection plan. Well today was the last straw. Again there was a delamination issue on one set of lenses so given the history over the last year I was hoping that the store would work with me to come to a mutually agreeable solution. Instead of working with me I am being charged full price (270) . Considering I am just about blind without my glasses I have no choice but to pay. read more
