I'd had Specsavers recommended to me from about five other people (one of whom works in a competing optometrist) and their 2-for-1 deals can't hurt either. I was able to book an eye test appointment online, walked in and didn't have to wait long to get in the chair and start the test. The optometrist was lovely and told me about what each of the tests was for, and explained everything to me easily. My only gripe with the service is that I was bounced around between about five different staff during the time I was there, so this got a little confusing. Do they work on commission? I used to work on commission so I generally try to make sure whoever's helping me gets the sale, but no idea if that's the go for this store. Despite this, every staff member made sure I had all the information I needed about my glasses, made sure I was comfortable with my contacts when I was trialling them, gave me some time alone to pick out a pair of frames, and at no point did I feel rushed even though the store was packed with shoppers. Very happy with my experience here, and ended up purchasing a pair of normal glasses, sunglasses, and contacts. While I was in store a staff member also helped me set up an online account so that I can reorder contacts when my prescription runs out. Very helpful!

When you take the lift up to Gerry & Johnson's, don't be alarmed when the doors open to reveal an empty office space shrouded in darkness. Take a hard right and you'll find the store entrance. When I entered the foyer for the first time I felt like a child in a candy store. Because I've worn glasses since I was nine, I've been in plenty of optometrists - and often - and was taken aback by how stylish, modern, and comfortable Gerry & Johnson's was. There's a fantastic range of frames, and they stock to suit any style; from indie, wooden frames to your more traditional metal framed specs. The set up reminds me of an IKEA showroom. There are two comfortable lounges surrounding a table with vased flowers, a water cooler, and a children's area with a table and drawing materials. Not to mention the entire office is overlooking Brisbane Square so you can admire the view stretching out towards South Bank and the Brisbane Eye. The receptionists and optometrists themselves are incredibly friendly and helpful, and answered all of my questions with thoroughness and patience. I went for an Ortho K consultation and even though my scans yielded unpromising results, my optometrist was honest and realistic about the outcomes of treatment and didn't pressure me into paying for anything unnecessary. The consultation rooms are very chic; the examination chair is leather, and the gear they have is the latest technology in the field. My optometrist was young, but completely professional, well-informed, and up to date with the technology, so I felt in safe hands.

The store assistants are very friendly and really patient when it comes to picking something out. They understand how important it is to have the perfect frame on the end of your nose! I always come here when its time to pick out a new pair of glasses because I know I will be hard-pressed to pick just one pair.

I thought that was amazing that someone would remember a client after being gone for so long. I would recommend this optometrist to anyone in need of glasses. The Optometrist is amazing as well and explains everything going on and what causes the changes in eye sight etc. You leave this store knowing that you have had the best care and the best advice on care for your eyes and your glasses.

The staff were very understanding of how much umming, ahhing and second (sometimes third) opinions must by necessity go into choosing the pair of frames that will grace the top of your nose for the next few years (hopefully avoiding being sat on). They patiently unlocked cabinets galore and let me try on dozens of frames until I finally settled on a white pair that I love and make me truly stand out from the crowd. They were ready with lenses within the week, cost only $200 altogether and are still going strong several sitting and standing accidents later.

David has previously faxed a script over within 5 minutes to a chemist for me so that I am able to receive the necessary eye drops. He understands my issue and is always takes his time to help me. I would recommend this place to anybody who is having issues with their eyes. So you can imagine my excitement at finding this OPTIKO store. (Just saying it out loud is fun.) I admit I betrayed my loyal Ray-bans many a time just for a fondle of their hand crafted frames. What I love about the store is the range of products on display from Cartier and Missoni to Dita. You can easily tell the amazing craftsmanship that has gone into making these unique designs. The store itself is also beautiful, the layout is simple and it really lets the products speak for themselves. If you are fortunate enough to be a fellow four eyes, I would get myself down to Tattersalls arcade pronto!

They did a great job of welding the right arm back in place for only $20. Fast forward to the present and I've had the same thing happen to my main pair of prescription glasses. Once again it only set me back $20. Considering the alternative is paying $500+ for a new pair, it is certainly worth the trip. The shop itself is little more than a garage, but don't be put off, they know what they are doing.
