Unfortunately, the majority of the times I have been here have been for funerals but it must be said, it is a lovely place for private functions like weddings with a fair few footballers going here on a number of occasions. It is primarily a golf club, with a great 18 hole course along with bowling green. A lovely place, tucked well away from the houses nearby. Not too fancy, but still quite elitist as far as sports clubs go with a long waiting list.

I'm not a huge fan of golf (since I suck!) but my boyfriend & his brother have been teaching me the basics on this course, plus I really like how they have shaped the course around the park as it fits in perfectly with all the walk ways and other scenery. The course starts just behind the bowling green's towards the back of the park and inside the bowling green area is the building where the admission for the course is "paid" (although from what I've seen very few people actually pay to play here). The course has 9 holes, most of which are a par 3, with three par 4's. I'd say the course is well suited to beginners and moderate players, you're certainly not going to see a Tiger Woods level player teeing off here! I would say that the course is also kept in pretty good condition as The fairways & greens are very good but the tee off areas could be doing with some maintenance. I think this is a pretty good course in general with some good challenges for those just starting out like myself. A few negatives to point out would be that, because the course is in a public park, there is very little security so it can be a common occurrence finding yourself trying to avoid beer bottles or cans with your feet as you're taking certain shots. Also, don't be surprised if some holes are missing the flag as some goofballs seem to think it's cool to take these which can cause some confusion aiming shots blindly at the green! The final thing I would say that is super frustrating is that because the course is very spread out, you can often find people randomly jumping onto the course & beginning their round from random holes.....very annoying when they decide to jump on at the hole in front of the one you are currently on holding up your round!! All in all I think the course is pretty good in spite of those negatives. It's very ideally located, well maintained and a good course for people of average skill level, which I'd imagine most of the people who play here are at!

Clydebank and District Golf Club (or Hardgate Golf Club as it is known by locals) certainly seems to tow the daft rule line. A friend of mine was told he would have to carry two drinks from the bar to his table on a tray, even though the table was only a foot away from the bar! However, I have attended a few good functions held in here and, as the club is located on a hill, it offers lovely views of Glasgow. Afraid I can't comment on the course itself as I am not a golfer.

I like to nip in here for a light bite to eat or just a coffee. I especially love their flavoured teas. The food is made on the premises, to order so at lunch times it can get busy. Driving in to the car park, as I imagine it would be slightly difficult to get there by public transport, the number of cars was tremendous for a driving range at that time. I was soon to find out why.. Quite some way outside of the City itself, World of Golf at 8.30 on a Thursday evening was full to the brim with those professional golfing enthusiasts, and the counterpart guys swinging for the air, leaving the golf ball comfortably sitting on the green. I feel obliged to mention, I fitted in quite nicely with the later of the two, where children were leaps and bound ahead of me. That being said, a thouroughly enjoyable experience was had by both me and my boyfriend, who sadly for me fits the description of the first of the two types of players mentioned. As driving ranges go, they are generally quite satandard, rubber tees, token ball machines, small golfing goods for sale in the reception area. Well World of Golf, as highlighted by the name is Bigger and Better. The golf store alongside the reception was vast and varied in product range. Staff were very polite and accommodating, with the bonus of offering clubs, waiving the general fee of £2 per club. I was tempted again by the novelty, and choose a booth on level 2, yep thats right there are two levels. Lift was in my favour with the extra height, and I managed to re-tune my golfing prowess for a good two to three swings, as a contented Ping noise sent my ball out in to the floodlit well-kempt grass range. 150 balls between two people who haven't played in around 5 years was ambitious, leaving cramp in the hands of both my better half and I, who once out of balls, retreated to the warmth of the cafe. Howbeit, I am now hooked once again to golf, with a reasonably close location and at a one off 'pay as you go' price of just over £6 it is hard to resist. I recommend everyone who plays or has played golf and let it fade away to dig out their clubs and glove, blow off the dust and roll down to World of Golf Glasgow and hit some balls on to the fairway. I think the original building burned down a few years back so the new place is modern and fairly trendy (by usual golf club standards). I've no idea about memberships or anything but the prices at the bar were very reasonable and the barmen poured a very good pint of Guinness.

Recently, my family held a reception here for about 60 people. The space is a great place to host a…read moregathering. The food was great, we had soups, sandwiches and desserts. I would have liked to have given this a 4 star review, however they were severely understaffed which meant one side of the room was one course ahead of the other side of the room. Considering this was prebooked, with extra staff requested when booking, it meant that the hosts weren't able to relax and chat as they should of, as they spent the majority of the time helping the poor girls who were rushed off their feet trying to serve 60 people as fast as they could. As first impressions go, it could have been better. Given the circumstances, having all the friends and family come together from near and far, I would have liked to see the hosts be able to relax and enjoy themselves more.
