Il ne s'est pas contenté de faire une remarque polie : il a agi de façon sèche, condescendante, presque comme si on était en train de commettre un crime. Lorsque je lui ai calmement demandé son nom pour signaler son attitude, il a carrément refusé de s'identifier. Ce manque de transparence, couplé à une approche aussi désagréable, est tout simplement inacceptable de la part de quelqu'un en service à la clientèle. Je fréquente cet IGA depuis des années, mais ce genre d'expérience donne sérieusement envie d'aller ailleurs. Un minimum de respect, de courtoisie et de professionnalisme, c'est la base. Top Discount is a small speciality French/European grocery store that offers mostly shelf stable foods and specialty products for the home. You can find lots of imported snacks, chips, candies, beverages, cereals and household supplies like cleaning products, detergents, body care, soaps, lotions and the like - all from France for the most part. These are the type of items that are very hard to find elsewhere and normally not sold at your regular grocery store. With the large community of French ex-pats and other European migrants in Quebec, Top Discount offers a little taste from home. I stocked up on a few body washes from brands like Dop or Cottage (not sold in Canada normally), made in France Lays chips, Haribo gummy candy and special bbq sauces. The prices are very affordable and the products are unique and fun. I am not from Europe but appreciate the variety and being introduced to new brands. Note that Top Discount has a partnership with Carrefour which is one of the largest grocery chains in Europe so they also sell many Carrefour house branded items at very cheap prices. This Laval location has the best selection, I went on opening day and compared to another Top Discount store I went to in Brossard, this new location is bigger and better. Highly recommend checking out! There's something for everyone.

Shift supervisor or lead cashier Nathalie was extremely rude and aggressive on Oct. 5, 2021. My wife was unaware store closed at 9 due to incorrect information on the door that said it closed at 10. Nathalie did tell me when I walked in at 8:45 they close at 9, but my wife walked in 10 minutes earlier and said she wasn't told. Even if she had told her, my wife probably wouldn't have understood because, unlike me, she doesn't speak French. That was an honest mistake by the store and I don't expect them to say "sorry and we'll let you shop until 10." I have no issue with that. But for her to act like a wicked witch and tell my wife and others to stop what they are doing at 8:55 and go to the cash, following my wife in the process, while not offering her any assistance even though it's obvious she is handicapped and walks with a cane, is totally unacceptable. When at the cash I explained to her in French that my wife was trying to say that the sign at the front says store closes at 10. But Nathalie rudely interrupted me, said she doesn't speak English (even though she knew very well I was speaking French and would have been able to understand me had she been paying attention and not screamed at me and interrupted). As a matter of fact, I think she did understand me, but she pretended she couldn't. Had she not understood me she would not have said the discussion is over and told me to "get out." But she did both. To my credit, I did not get out and paid for our groceries. Good thing for IGA I didn't because had I my wife wouldn't have paid for them, they would have had to have been put back on the shelf and Nathalie would be in more trouble than she is likely already in. I was polite and she was extremely rude. But even if I wasn't polite, she still would of had no business talking to me like that. The worst thing I did was tell Nathalie it's rude to tell someone talking to you in French you don't speak English. Of course I had an English accent, but it's obvious I was speaking French and working hard to do it. And how could she not of understood me if she got so nasty? She didn't like me telling her she was being rude, but I politely told her that and had a right to. You don't treat customers the way she treated my handicapped wife and I, no matter how good you think your reason is. And you have to be even more careful when dealing with customers who have mobility issues like my wife and speech defects like me (I talk fast and loud because I have Tourette's and Asperger). Otherwise it makes us wonder if people are being discriminatory. The other staff were nice and helpful and both the owner, Genevieve Bilodeau, and manager Diane were pleasant when I spoke to them on the phone the following day about the incident.

The thing I liked was that since it's mostly all from around the province. It makes us consider going to the brewery if the beer was good. But I think it was it's limitation for me. My BF was hesitating between 2 beer and I told him, take option 2, option 1 is from the ruisseau noir in Terrebonne, we could go directly. Going on site to enjoy the product for me is part of the fun. So that's why I can't fully go 5 stars. But I can understand the need and that's why I can't knock it. Ask the staff for recommendations, they know their stuff.
