It is nothing short of fantastic…read more The owners are incredibly nice and accommodating, the coffee is absolutely top notch (with a daily rotating roast!), the pastries are to DIE for, the turntable always plays the perfect mood music, and so on and so on and so on... By far my favorite café in Lille, Tamper leans a little more to the American/Canadian style of faire, thus there are a fair amount of expats floating around in here. And for good reason. It does away with the typical, cold French style and service and just puts forward a warm, welcoming, and genuine face that reminds me of a good cozy corner café chez-nous. Prices are a hair higher than normal, but the quality is equitably superior. It does get busy throughout the day and can get a little cramped, but take that as a sign that the secret is out and you're surrounded by good company. Bref, Tamper kicks ass!
