My partner and I love sitting at the back, its a simple treat that cheers us both up. The second smaller screen is very intimate and is enjoyable when it is quite empty but I find it quite annoying if it is full up and there are people chatting or messing around. This is my one complaint about this cinema, I have seen quite a bit of silly behaviour from groups of teenagers and I know that this can be difficult for staff to deal with. I do much prefer this cinema to the big cineworld in Ashford for atmosphere and price, the only reason we would go to ashford is if the film we wnted to see wasn't on in Folkestone.

The seats in the larger theatre are a little small and uncomfortable but the ones in the right hand theatre have been replaced. What I love about this place is they still have a reasonable policy on charging for popcorn and sweets its only a little more than the shops, whereas at the larger multiplexes you end up paying more for a drink and pop corn than you did for the theatre tickets. This place is never a busy as a multiplex and its great for when you want to go to a new release film but cant be doing with the crowds at the multiplexes. Friendly staff, although it is upstairs so not good if you are disabled or need help.

The cinema is divided into 3 screens, Premiere, Century and Bijou screens, the biggest being the Premiere (this screen also has the most expensive seats £6 for their premier seats) and this is where most of the new releases are shown. The century and the Bijou screens are both quite a bit smaller (the bijou is like watching a film in your front room!) but both show the bigger releases a couple of weeks after and also show the more independent films. Overall a nice little cinema well worth a visit if in the area and dont fancy a trip to the big multiplex.

Although, standing at the Ickes office for 5 minutes waiting for someone to turn up and take too much money from us isn't.. No one even shouted to say where to buy tickets, instead we had to shout over to the guy selling popcorn, to which he replied..over here... It wouldn't of been a problem if there was a sign or if they hadn't watched us stand there knowing what we were waiting for. Once we bought out tickets we thought we would waste a little time in the arcade, which used to be a lot better. But we couldn't because the change machine wouldn't take any kind of money from anyone.. Sooo we just watched our film, which wasn't the best but that's not anything to do with the cinema mind, the 35 minutes of adverts was a bit much though

The Kino Rye is built in a former Victorian school building and has won several design awards. There are three screening rooms that can also all be hired on a exclusive basis (the red, blue and silver rooms).
