Since it is wealthy people graves, these grave rob and dug out for the items that buried with them. When you visited this place, you will see a lot of empty coffins due to the same reason was robed. The coffins line up like a street straight line and lead to the chapel behind. This place is part of UNESCO world heritage site. There was a bishop buried here and his relic is now removed to a church nearby. van Gogh and Paul Gauguin have come to this place to draw the graveyard side by side. This place is nothing short of incredible! It's amazing to see something back home (in Washington…read morestate) that's over a hundred years old and we get really excited about a tree that's 300-400 years old. This structure has been around for 2 millennia and remains structurally sound - I feel like if they could get a waterway to stand for 2000 years, we should be able to figure out how to make a roof last more than 10 years! We opted for a group tour and despite not speaking French (our friends did) we learned a lot via those who could translate for us! The aqueduct traveled nearly 30 miles and only fell 35 feet from top to bottom. It also went out of commission in 500 AD due to calcium build up in the channel. The tour takes you through the actual waterway up top and provided some unparalleled views. We went on a cloudy day and I can only imagine how amazing this thing must have looked two thousand years ago on a sunny day. I can imagine it looks incredible in a sunny day today! If you have a chance to go here, you should do it. It's incredible from an engineering, history and general interest perspective!

Once u reach the top, very nice what more can be said really? the views are amazing, u can see the entire city from up there. As for the Basilica itself, it's very cool with plenty of mosaics designs & column's, inside the candles provide some light to the dimly lit interior. This was a great stop & for sure worth checking out, even if just for the outside views.
